Story
Hello there, I am Crocs! I am a groovy, quirky older fellow who will always keep you laughing! I am a collector of toys and will hoard tennis balls, and if I hear you squeak one of my toys I will prance up to you, remove it from your clutches, and return it to its proper place on my bed. After I sniff every inch of you and determine you are a good egg, I will back my booty up to you and ask you to give me scratches. My back legs go crazyyy when I start getting good back scratches! Even though I still have lots of pep, I also settle down so nicely and love to take long afternoon snoozes. I know sit and seem to be fully housebroken, and I`m so gentle when accepting snacks. I thought the younger whippersnapper dogs were annoying before, but I`m starting to loosen up in playgroups and can actually be a silly goose myself. I would love to spend my golden years with my own collection of toys and a big ole cozy bed, so please make me the king of your castle! Let`s meet today!

Story
Howdy there! We are Trouble (smaller, pointy ears) and Snap, a bonded pair of older gentleman in search of a proper home in which to spend our golden years. We have spent many years together, and as such, we would really love to find a home for the both of us! We tend to be low energy but curious, we like to follow you around and know what you are up to. We seem to be housebroken and are familiar with sit and down, and we both love to snack on jerky treats. We can be around other animals and think we would do okay with kitties, but we prefer calmer dogs that will respect our space. Do you have enough room in your home and your heart for the both of us? We really hope so! Ask to meet us!

Story
I am so pleased to make your acquaintance! I am Camilla, AKA Cuddle Bug. I was a shy little thing when I first arrived at ACAR, but thanks to my foster family, I`ve blossomed into my most authentic cuddle bug self! It might take me a few minutes to sniff ya and make sure you`re good people, then I`ll be snoozing in your arms before you know it. In my foster home, I was quickly getting the hang of potty training and crate training, and having another confident pup in the home really helped me come out of my shell, so I would not mind having a pup sibling! I was a little toooo interested in my kitty sibling, so no cats for me, please and thank you! As my confidence has grown, my leash manners have also improved significantly, and I love to go for peaceful strolls in the morning. How about we take a little stroll together right now? Ask to meet me!

Story
Say hello to Mani, a 2-year-old ball of energy who's looking for her perfect forever home! Mani is sweet, loving, and playful, and she'll attach herself to one special person, though she's more than happy to spread her love to the whole family. She enjoys cuddling up with her people after a fun game of fetch, and she's ready to find a home where she can thrive and be her energetic, affectionate self. Mani is crate trained, mostly housebroken, and a quick learner, which makes her an easy companion to train and enjoy. She's currently living with a 16-year-old, whom she adores, and an English Lab, with whom she loves playing. Mani is dog-selective and would do best in a home with a laid-back, submissive dog. She's not suited for a home with young children, small dogs, or cats, as she prefers her space and will do best in an environment where she can focus on bonding with her people and one or two canine companions. Mani does best with specific toys, such as a braided bone or a wood bone, and will need some gentle redirection if she gets mouthy. While she's full of energy, she is a quick learner and eager to please, making her a great fit for someone who enjoys active playtime and has the time to help her continue learning. If you're looking for a sweet and loyal companion who's ready for adventure and affection, Mani is your girl! She's excited to find a home where she can continue to learn, play, and shower her family with love!

Story
Updated 6/20/2024: Sioux (pronounced "Sue") is a sweet, silly Lab/hound mix girl. She was born in late June 2022 and is very friendly. She weighs about 60 pounds - and is probably fully-grown now. (We do not know her exact breed mix.) The adoption fee for Sioux is $200. She has fully recovered from her spay surgery, and has been microchipped and is fully vaccinated. She's receiving monthly flea and heartworm prevention - and had a recent fecal (negative) and heartworm test (negative.) Sioux did fantastic with crate training as she recovered from her spay. She's very affectionate and is quite fond of peanut butter. We've working with Sioux on leash walking - she loves to explore (and choose her own direction) and will need some continued training - but she will pee on leash. Her ideal home would have a large fenced yard so she can sniff, explore and zoom. (She has not been introduced to young children or cats.) Sioux has a brother, Jackson, also currently available for adoption. If you want more information about Sioux, call or text Jody at 352-316-5155 or email her at SCRWestLevy@gmail.com. Thanks for your interest in adopting - and for your patience as we are an all-volunteer rescue! (We do keep our posts current! Sometimes we have to repost a pup when an adoption falls through. Thanks for understanding.) - - - - - PS. Second Chance Rescue posts our pets on AdoptAPet.com. Brock is an 81lb guy around 5-years-old. He came from a local animal control where he was picked up with a few other dogs. He is mellow, but also still has some pep in his step. He is a strong boy, but listens pretty well. He is content with a few long walks a day or running around a yard for exercise. He loves people and getting plenty of attention!Visit us at the Gainesville Petsmart on Archer Rd Saturdays 11 am to 5 pm and Sundays Noon to 5 pm. UPDATE:  465 DAYS AT OUR KENNEL looking for a home.  Sweet Max.one year old black lab mix. Max seems to have been incredibly unsocialized, we think possibly locked in a crate in a room alone for quite a while.  He acts like an 8 week old puppy with no boundaries but he's in a big boy body.  He needs a lot of work. Housebroken. Loves bath time and water. Loves toys. Playful and energetic, as any lab puppy should be. He's great with other dogs. Unknown with cats and other animals as he has never been around them. He needs a big yard and grass and sunshine. He is a good boy.  ##1039448##

Story
Daisy was found after being ejected from a vehicle during a crash. Her owner surrendered her due to the medical bills that accumulated for her recovery. Vets think she is between 6-8 years old. She came to us completely trained and is the sweetest dog. She is currently in a home with small children and 3 other dogs and does great but we believe she would thrive in a home where she was able to get more attention. She loves being outside and soaking up the sunshine.
