Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
Everyone that meets Luna is amazed! Luna is SUPER friendly, engaging, eager and 100% fantastic. And she is just so easy to love and handle. Luna had a home but could not stay anymore. She arrived here rather thin, so she is really enjoying the steady meals as well as putting on some much-needed weight. Luna is such a great dog that one staff member said, “Luna is a doll! She loves food, eats ravenously! Super sweet for handling and exams. Little mouthy but she`s a puppy, that`s expected. Easy to redirect. Overall, a very good girl!” WOW- now that’s an endorsement, right? And how about the volunteer who said, `She`s petite at around 30lbs and short, and is so loving, just wants to cuddle and is soooo gentle!` And another volunteer spent time with her and shared, `Luna is a sweet and affectionate gal with loads of energy. She has been friendly with all humans and curious about other dogs. She is athletic - a running buddy maybe? Agility? Luna is a very responsive pup who wants to please and will thrive with someone to help her refine her exuberant `puppy manners.` Meet the loving Luna today!Luna is in a foster home! To meet her, contact her foster caregivers at amelia.graytock@gmail.com.

Story
Hi! I have owned Brownie since I was 16 years old, about 10 years. She was about 1 when I spotted her with someone less fortunate that wanted to give her away and sold her to me for 20$. The day we met, it was her hazel colored eyes that caught my attention. Shes a sweet and protective dog that loves people, walks, and belly rubs. She’s not great with dogs she doesn’t know, but my partner and I have been able to get our two dogs to live together fine. We just had a baby, and I am overwhelmed with pet care and looking for a new home for her.
