You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Update: Reggie is not ready for adoption at this time. We will be working with him on some behavior modification. He was not properly socialized and now he is showing fear aggression with strangers. We will post updates about him. If you would be interested in sponsoring his training please visit our website to make a donation. Any help is greatly appreciated! Reggie was surrendered to a shelter when his owners could no longer keep him. He is about 1 year old. He is nervous at first and will need someone to understand this and continue to help him gain confidence. He is super sweet when he gets to know you. He is full of energy and loves to play. We are not sure about his breed but he only weighs about 30lbs, perfect size!  He does fine with cats and some other dogs.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 22, 2024, 12:58 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please note: Our beautiful Joy does require a 6-foot wood or vinyl fence, no chain-link or split rail.    Meet Joy, my lovely, sweet, loving girl Joy Her 'Meet Your Match' designation is: Teacher’s Pet -   I’ve got the whole package — smart, four legs, love to learn, and live to please. Go ahead, teach me anything. Sit, stay, and balance your checkbook, I can do it all. Keep me entertained and I’ll be yours forever.    Joy lives up to her name as she is always joyful, so very happy that now she lives with people who love her & now she feels safe. She had litter after litter in WV & I would say her previous life was that of pure neglect. She is about young & about 60 lbs (she's gained 10 lbs since she joined the rescue) & I have her listed as a Lab/Antalion Sheperd mix. Her coat has so many shades of gold & yellow, she is really stunning, expecially in the sun!    When it comes to people, she's indiscriminate with her affection. Joy doesn't believe in strangers, she's ready to shower everyone with love. I love how when you are close, she leans into you gently, offering a soulful gaze of absolute adoration. She is also very intelligent, it seems that when I look at her sometimes I can see her thinking!    This tall, lanky and I think very regal looking young lady is a bundle of love wrapped in a desire for attention. With her keen senses, she thoroughly enjoys walks where she can indulge in the various scents around her. Her trust, which is quickly earned, is as solid as a rock, and with it, she's game to explore and try out anything.   If you're looking for a loyal companion who looks at you like you're the center of her universe and is eager to be a part of every adventure, then Joy is the young girl for you! Don't miss a chance to make Joy a part of your family. Read our adoption requirements & if you can meet them you can apply for her right here at our website. Come & meet her and get ready to be greeted with boundless enthusiasm and love!       We accept Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, and All Credit Cards for the adoption fee.      About LNF Dogs/Puppies: All dogs and puppies have undergone temperament testing. Story
*My adoption fee has been sponsored by a FFAS supporter!* Hi-ya! I'm Scrappy! Little, cute, and the best sidekick, just like my namesake! I came to the shelter when my family wasn't able to take care of me anymore and I must say - it's a big change from a cozy home to a shelter kennel. I'm one and a half years old and 49 pounds! I hope that my new family has a love for big, goofy boys, because that's what I'll be when I grow up! I love playing with other social and active dogs, so if you have a canine sibling, that would be ideal! I would love a patient family who is willing to help me learn all of my best boy manners as I grow up - could that be you? I would love to start the journey out of the shelter and into my true, forever, happily ever after!    Have Room in Your Home? Welcoming in a pet saves your new pet's life and creates space for another pet to get a chance! Not sure if Scrappy would be the best fit for you? Send in a generic app! Our team will work with you to find a pet to best fit your lifestyle! You will go home with a starter bag of food, one month of flea and heartworm prevention, and also have 90 DAYS of training help included with your adoption, if needed! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Silky (2yo and 59 lbs) is a charming Labradoodle and Hound mix who is ready to steal your heart! This adorable pup is not just super cute and cuddly, but also incredibly affectionate. Silky's favorite activity is snuggling up on the couch with his people, making him the perfect companion for cozy movie nights or lazy afternoons. While Silky loves his indoor cuddle sessions, he's also a big fan of the great outdoors. He enjoys running and romping around, and would really thrive playing fetch in a yard. He has made significant progress with his leash training. At first he was a big puller but after a few weeks of training, Silky now knows to check-in and will loop around and come back to the heel position if the leash is taut. He doesn't need to go on long treks but is happy to do so if you're up for it. Mostly, he loves sniffing around bushes and trees, taking in all the exciting scents. This intelligent boy is a fast learner and already knows several commands, including sit, down, paw, and go to bed. He's crate trained and sleeps soundly through the night in his crate. For Silky, the crate is his off switch—he knows it's time to nap when he goes inside. We are stilling working through some anxiety issues including barking when meeting new people/dogs, hearing noises, and separation anxiety. Silk is going to thrive with the right person could that be you? Please fill out an application if you are interested in adopting. abuddyforlife.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 22, 2024, 12:58 pm

Oscar is a good dog but does not do well with young kids. We have a toddler and a newborn and Oscar doesn’t like that he’s not getting full attention. He gets anxious when the toddler is being loud. We believe that he would be happier at a home without kids.

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Milo! Milo is an 8-year-old, 74 lb, Labrador who came to us after his owner passed away. He was missing his person and in need of a new family to love. Milo received a dental and had two benign masses removed. He is fully housebroken and has good vision and hearing. Milo does have arthritis and takes medications to help with stiffness. A home with few stairs would be ideal. Don’t let him fool you though; this pup has no trouble chasing after squirrels. Milo loves being outside, going for walks, and exploring the backyard. He would do well in a family with gentle, dog savvy children or an adult-only home. Milo gets along well with dogs and cats, is crate-trained, and sleeps in a dog bed. He isn’t a fan of loud noises and likes a bit of chicken mixed in with his food. Milo’s foster describes him as a love that just wants to be loved. He really enjoys hugs and kisses, and he is a dog that wants to cuddle! Milo is happy to go for car rides, lay in the sun, and just be with his people. Give him some treats and he will be yours forever. This special boy needs a new family to share his life with. Can it please be with you? Apply today!

Story
This friend has just arrived because their owner could no longer keep them. While owners can provide some history on their pets, our medical and behavioral teams will still evaluate them. Dogs that have lived in homes previously typically have some training established, but we cannot guarantee that those behaviors will remain consistent in a new home environment. They are pending interactions with other animals at the shelter until they have been cleared by our vet. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and we will update their bio with more information as we learn. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
