Story
Cooper is ready for his close-up with a radiant smile for everyone he meets. He is a happy-go lucky 2 year-old Black Labrador mixed breed boy with an interesting brindle coat and gobs of gusto for companions and play as he awaits his forever home and family. At 57 pounds, Cooper is a medium size dog eager to play with dogs of all sizes and kids of all ages. It is not known currently whether Cooper enjoys spending time with cats.Cooper is already leash trained, house trained and crate trained. It is important to remember that although he is housetrained accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. If crate training is planned, Cooper needs a crate that is big enough for him to stand and turn around in as well as lie down comfortably. Crates should be cozy, happy places for dogs to hang out and Cooper needs time to explore his crate and go in and out as he wishes. Crates must never be used for punishment. Labradors are smart and eager to please their people so clear some time in your day, some room in your home and plenty of room in your heart, add in consistent positive training with plenty of encouragement and Cooper will flash his beautiful smile at you all day long. The adoption fee for Cooper is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. Story
Left behind in a vacant home, Matty and his brother Marty were rescued and brought to a shelter. Just a pup, now 6 months, Matty, a labrador retriever mix, has embraced his new life. He is very sweet, playful, and great with other dogs. Such a cute face to match his personality. Energy level is medium, and he is expected to be in the medium size range when fully grown, up to 60 pounds. Currently, he weighs about 25 pounds. Lab mixes are known for their friendliness towards people. They have more than enough affection to go around for the whole family, too. They are intelligent and good-natured. They have plenty of energy as pups and usually like to stay active throughout their lives. They make great family companions.Matty has been working on crate, leash, and house training. All three skills are in progress. Once routines are established, Matty will be a quick learner and eager to please. Puppies have lots of potential, and since he is smart and friendly, he can grow to be a wonderful companion in the right home. He enjoys the company of other dogs during play time and does well with children as well. He is very comfortable with people and enjoys receiving attention. It is unknown on how he would be with cats.Daily short walks (under thirty minutes) will be a good opportunity to work on leash skills as well as socialization skills. It will be a new world to him with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along his walk. Please note: He may not be a running companion until at least age one when his growth plate closes. He will also appreciate free time in a secure back yard or maybe at a local dog park. Keeping his mind active with activities that provide physical and mental stimulation will prevent boredom. Could he be a future frisbee player? The adoption fee for Matty is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue, and transport fees. Story
Looking for a sweet and playful pup who is always ready for a party? Meet Marty! Marty is a 6-month-old labrador mix, with a handsome tan and white coat and a winning smile! Marty currently weighs 20 lbs. He still has some growing to do and will likely be a medium-sized (25-50 lbs.) pup when fully grown.Marty was found abandoned in a vacant home and was brought to our partner shelter in North Carolina. After a rough start to life, Marty is so excited to find a home and join his forever family! He is a sweet and playful pup, who makes friends with other dogs and human kiddos wherever he goes. He has not yet had a chance to meet a cat, so we are not sure how he would feel about a feline companion. As a medium energy pup, Marty would be an ideal partner for outdoor adventures or for chill movie nights in. However, at this age, short walks are best as the growth plate does not close until around one year of age. At that point in time, Marty can be taken for long walks or hikes and can even be your running partner. Marty is working hard on his leash training and cannot wait to impress you with his ability to learn!Marty is also working on his crate and house training. Consistency and patience will be key to helping him learn the ropes. As with all puppies, Marty is full of curiosity and is ready to grow from adorable puppy to amazing dog with the right guidance. Marty will appreciate your care and love as he adjusts to life with his new family!Does the idea of Marty joining your family make you want to celebrate? If so, he cannot wait to meet you!The adoption fee for Marty is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue, and transport fees. Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)
