Story
Sweet Tristan is a 1 year old, 51-ish lbs, male, mixed breed. He has a sleek, slender body and an agile, friendly, curious nature. We suspect Tristan has some Black Mouth Cur and Rhodesian Ridgeback in his lineage. Tristan loves canine friends. He’s a cautious in new situations and finds great comfort in the company of his canine companions. Tristan will do well in a home with a fenced in yard so he can have plenty of room to romp, play, and work on his confidence building. He rides fine in a car, but is nervous to get into one and he’s working on his leash manners, too. He’s very much a pup still and is eager to learn and please! Story
This beautiful boy is Titan! He’s a 4.5 month old lab mix. He recently joined MHCR as a transfer from a local shelter. Titan’s prior owners and the shelter staff labeled him as a bite risk because of his puppy like behavior. He was deemed in adoptable and his time was almost up if you know what I mean… Titan’s foster mom decided to take a chance on him as pups often behave much differently in a foster home than in a shelter. Well, wouldn’t ya know, he’s amazing! He’s a ball of energy and loves to play! He loves attention and people. But most of all, Titan LOVES his canine foster siblings. He sleeps through the night in his kennel and is working on potty training, too. Titan is doing wonderfully and will love a family of his own for the holidays! If you’re his new best friend please apply! Story
Richie is a 40 lbs, lab mix who is around 6 years old. He’s a Heinz 57 mixture packed with personality! Richie is a retired Houston stray looking for his forever family. We wish we could ask Richie how to describe the first few years of his life, but we will have to settle for guessing. Richie clearly had a human or humans in his life who loved him at one point. He came to us knowing about living in a house, routines and food times. He knows how to walk on a leash, how to take a bath, and how to behave in a crate. He loves to roll in the grass, get belly rubs, and give hugs. He knows ‘sit’, ‘shake’, fetch, loves playing with toys, and loves kids and people fiercely. He’s also quite the talker, not only with his amazing facial expressions but his ‘sass’ when he wants something of his humans 🤣 Ok…now for the not so good. Richie was picked up as a stray with no ID on him and never reclaimed. Then he ended up on a high kill shelter euthanasia list after he went unnoticed by everyone until our rescue agreed to save his life. He was well behaved there and only listed for space/time. Richie had pesky heartworms and recently finished his treatment. He also had many fractured teeth with root exposures and required an extensive dental surgery to remove many teeth to prevent pain and recurring infections. Given he is a well behaved boy in is foster home and in his crate, we can only imagine what he went through in life to damage his teeth to that extent. Richie is one healthy, happy boy now with no ongoing medical issues. He has a low-moderate energy level and will do well in a variety of home types, but he is a bit dog selective and doesn’t care for dogs larger than him (c’mon, is he really the first man with a size complex). Once he decides he doesn’t like a dog, he’s not really interested in working on the relationship 🤣. He seems to do best with female dogs and he likes ‘em on the smaller side (he’s a cliche, what can we say). He also seems fine with felines. If you like to have your friends and all their dogs over for drinks, he’s probably not your guy. If you live a quieter, calmer life without the comings and goings of a pack of canines, then he’s the one for you! Richie is in foster with Frenchie and he’s in looooove….should you be looking for two. Richie is in foster in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/richie You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
Darling is a beautiful, healthy, young pup who was saved from a high kill shelter. She was picked up as a stray and then was completely terrified in the shelter and tried to be invisible. We saw her in the nick of time to save her life! We think Darling is approximately 9-11 months old and lab mix. She is about 35 lbs, so given her age, she won’t be a very big girl! She’s a petite little thing! Darling is very sweet, snuggly, quiet as a mouse, smart, and observant. She is not very high energy, has been low maintenance in our care, and very non-confrontational with other animals. She’s well behaved in her foster home and working on being braver in the world and coming out of her shell because she is so shy. She is learning how to play with toys and what it truly means to ‘dog’. She walks well on a leash and likes to walk to go potty outside and keep her area clean. Darling needs a fairly calm, patient, predictable environment where she can feel safe and loved and recover from her rocky start in life. Please give this total sweetheart a chance at her forever!
