Story
❗Current location: in a local shelter in South Korea❗ • Rescue Story: Mongja was sold to an old man at a dog meat market. Luckily she was not slaughtered, but she was tied to a short leash and forced to guard the house and farm. A villager who took pity on her bought her from the old man, and that's how she was rescued. She is now protected and taken care of in a private shelter. • Personality: She is very playful, sweet, and smart. She gets along very well with other dogs and is very sociable. She's friendly with young children, but she's also sometimes seen to be wary of strangers, dropping to the floor when they visit or approach her unexpectedly. However, if you pet her, she would warm up quickly :) • Walking Manners: She tends to pull the leash on walks but will get better soon with training. • Crate-trained: yes • Health: She is scheduled to be spayed in a month (Aug 2024). ❗Our dogs are currently located in Korea, and they go through a legal process to get into the U.S. We are professionals with a lot of experience in this area. If you decide to adopt one of our dogs, the process will be smooth with us. See the experiences of other adopters on our Instagram. Please follow us @3ft.rescue

Story
** Current Location: in a local shelter in South Korea ** • Rescue Story : Meet Dugger👋 an adorable pup with a beautiful smile! Dugger was one of the 9 puppies found on a street in South Korea at just two months old and taken to a high-risk shelter. They were luckily saved right before euthanasia by the rescue team, but Dugger had to be hospitalized due to the mange treatment while all his siblings found their foster homes. Even long after he got a clean bill of health, he is still in the private shelter without a single chance to live in the loving home he deserves. This friendly pup is more than ready to find a forever home! • Personality: Friendly, Easy-going, Active Dugger's endearing and bright personality shines through with his charming smile and playful demeanor even in the shelter. We would like him to have a family who enjoys outdoor adventures so that Dugger can experience many activities he has been missing while staying in the shelter. • Affinity with -Cats: Tries to chase. -Dogs: Gets along well with other dogs. -Adults/Kids: Good with all people including men and kids, but he hasn't lived with kids in a house before, so it will be necessary to supervise him being around kids at the beginning. • Shedding: 5-6 • Food Allergies: No. • Walking Manner: in training and improving! • Housetrained: Needs work, but he would prefer to potty outdoors when adopted. • Bathing/Brushing: tolerates both well • Separation Anxiety: None. • Carsickness: No. • Bark or Howl: No. • Like & Dislike: LOVES people and attention!

Story
❗Current location: in a foster home in South Korea❗ Meet Goodo👋 a sweet lovable boy with cute curved ears! Goodo was found in a mountain in South Korea at just 3 months old in Apr 2021 and taken to a high-risk city shelter along with his siblings. Fortunately rescued right before euthanasia by the rescue team, the five siblings started living with numerous dogs in a private shelter. After spending three years in the shelter, Goodo thankfully had a chance to live in his foster home, but his foster family is returning him to the shelter very soon due to personal matters. We would love Goodo to find his forever home before he has to go back to the shelter life. He is more than ready to find one! • Personality: Calm, Gentle, Bright • Affinity with - Dogs: Good with his kind of dog, but generally he doesn't have a big interest in other dogs. - Cats: Not interested in small animals - Adults/Kids: He is good with people in general but just needs time to open up at the beginning. / He hasn't properly met a kid yet but prefers to keep some distance from people in general. However, he enjoys being petted even by new people. • Walking Manners: Generally good on a leash! Not reactive to other barking dogs when walking. • Separation Anxiety: none • Housetrained: Completely housebroken, going potty outdoors • Bathing/Brushing: Very good and calm • Car Sickness: He seems nervous but generally fine with car rides. • Barks/Howls: Only barks a little bit when someone enters the house in darkness • Appetite/Food Allergies: No allergies. • Shedding level (1~10): 5-6 • Likes/Dislikes: He likes pets, meaty treats, and walks(long walks, short runs) / He's not a fan of annoying dogs.

Story
Hello! My name is Benjamin Bear and I am a handsome 5 yr old male yellow Lab. My foster dad tells me that I am a really good boy, with a great face, and a loving heart. I am up for adoption with my sister, Princess Xena, who is 4 years old. We are considered a 'bonded pair,' which means we will be adopted out together. Two are definitely better than one! So far, since coming to our foster home, Princess Xena and I have settled down well and we love going out for walks! We used to be pretty chubby, but not anymore! We lost the extra weight and now we look great! I love to exercise and to walk a little more than my sister. We are very good with other dogs, but I am a little shy and scared at first when new people are coming into the house. Once I get to know them, it is all good! We are healthy and don't have any mobility issues. We are taking joint supplements because we are big dogs. I am about 107 lbs., my sister around 94 lbs. SCLRR took us to the vet recently and we had blood work done, been neutered/spayed, and we had our vaccines updated. We are all ready to go! We are gentle and loving and we would be wonderful dogs for someone. My preference would be for my sister and me to go to a loving family where we get to go on a walk every day! It would also be nice if our new owner stayed home for part of the day, because we love being around people so much. I am told that I am the stoic, protective older brother to Xena. If you can't find me in the house, I will most likely be snuggled up in the most random places: on the couch or most often in your bed where I know I am not supposed to be. I am great on leash and house trained. If you are considering adopting two well-behaved, fun-loving, and easy-going Labrador Retrievers, please adopt Princess Xena and me, Benjamin Bear! If you are interested in making this Lab part of your family, please contact your SCLRR family representative. If you have not yet applied with us, please submit an online application to adopt; an SCLRR volunteer will then contact you. Please note that your homecheck must be approved in order for you to be put in touch with the dog's foster home.

Story
Hello! My name is Princess Xena and I am a beautiful 4 yr old female chocolate Lab. I am a good girl and am told I am a sweetheart. I love my foster Dad and love being right next to him! You might call me a Velcro girl! I am up for adoption with my brother, Benjamin Bear, who is 5 years old. We are considered a 'bonded pair,' which means we will be adopted out together. Two is always better than one, right?! We were a little concerned when we first came to our foster home, but we settled in nicely and discovered that we love going out for walks! My brother likes the walks a little more than me, but I am still all about it. We used to be pretty chubby, but not anymore, we lost the extra weight and now we look great! I am very good with other dogs and people and I love everyone I have come in contact with! As long as I am with my people, I am happy! We are healthy and don't have any mobility issues. We are taking joint supplements because we are big dogs. I am 94 lbs. My brother is a little bigger, around 107 lbs. SCLRR took us to the vet recently and we had blood work done, we were neutered/spayed, and we had our vaccines updated. I also had entropion surgery to fix my eyelashes that were bothering me. I feel so much better! We are gentle and loving and we would be a wonderful dog for someone. My preference would be for my brother and me to go to a loving family where we get to go on a walk every day! It would also be nice if our new owner stayed home for part of the day, because we love being around people so much. I am told that I was probably a stand-up comedian in my past life. I am really eager to get ALL your attention and will not leave your side. I will assume the belly rub position in the morning - the only way to say good morning - and have an endless amount of love and kisses. I am great on a leash and house trained. If you are considering adopting two well-behaved, fun-loving, and easy-going Labrador Retrievers, please consider adopting Benjamin Bear and me, Princess Xena! Story
Hi, world! My name is Moomin, I'm 4 years old and I can't wait to meet you. What's a Moomin, you ask? Well, it's a cartoon character that looks a little like a white hippo and lives in Moominvalley. I'm glad I have Moominvalley to think of when I sleep, because I don't have a forever home right now, and that makes me sad. My last family loved me so much and I loved them back. I was really sad when they had to let me go, but the 'landlord' says I am too big. I don't understand because I'm pretty petite at about 55 lbs, but I guess it mattered a lot to him. I would really love to be in a forever home like all the other dogs with a family that I can love forever and ever and ever. My foster mom says I am the bestest dog in the world. I'm SUPER smart and know a lot of things already (sit, down, stay, wait, paw, high five, inside, outside, go potty)... but the most important thing I know how to do is play fetch! Wait until you see me catch a frisbee! I absolutely love to run after a toy and bring it back to you so we can play again! I would like to be with a family that is active. I would play all day if I was allowed, but I also understand when playtime is over and am really good at respecting my foster mom when she says playtime is 'all done.' I think I could be a really fun running buddy and I know I would be a really amazing agility dog. Agility course work would be a really good way for me to exercise my brain and get my energy out. I am a very respectful girl and I have not had a single accident in my foster mom's house. I don't steal things and I am not a counter surfer. I am crate trained in case I ever need to go in a crate, but I can stay out of my crate for hours at a time, unattended in the house. I am very well behaved and don't touch anything that doesn't belong to me. I only jump a little when I'm excited but I don't throw my body weight into the human- instead, I just give soft paw taps and ask for belly rubs. I do pull on leash when I'm excited, so I have been walking in a prong collar while I learn about leash pressure and that seems to be going really well. I need some time to get the hang of things, but my foster mom thinks I'll know the rules in no time. In order to meet my basic daily needs, it's important that I go to a family who is able to give me exercise and mental stimulation every day. I should get a minimum of 1-2 solid hours of exercise daily. This exercise can be broken up into walks and play time inside and outside, but it should start first thing in the morning. I would also love to have mini training sessions (a few minutes each) every day, because it makes me feel really happy and confident to use my smart brain. I will do basically anything you want if it means I get rewarded with a ball or toy, so it isn't hard at all! I know people don't always pick black dogs but I swear I'm a super cute girl! I am so shiny and soft and I don't shed half as much as my chocolate foster brother. I am really well behaved around other dogs and never react when I get barked at on walks. I think I would like to be your one and only. I do love playing with my foster brother, but at the end of the day I really just want to be with you. The most important thing to me is having a fun and loving family! I just discovered I LOVE swimming! Add a frisbee or a ball and I am in heaven! You don't have to pool, but I would love if we could go to a lake or the beach. Anywhere with water! I don't chase birds or other animals on walks and I have met a cat and did just fine! If you think I sound like a good match and can give me the active lifestyle I need, I would love to meet you! If you are interested in making this Lab part of your family, please contact your SCLRR family representative. If you have not yet applied with us, please submit an online application to adopt; an SCLRR volunteer will then contact you. Please note that your homecheck must be approved in order for you to be put in touch with the dog's foster home.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED! Malcolm is a sweet and mellow 2-year-old Lab mix. He's very well socialized, so we think he was kept in somebody's backyard before he was found scavenging for scraps on the street. Neighbors say he had been living for weeks in the area, drinking from the gutter to survive. Malcolm is so friendly, he came right up to us and asked to be saved. We searched for an owner, but without a collar or chip, we didn't have any luck. Now, Malcolm is getting used to living in a house and sleeping on a warm, cozy bed. He's very smart and is responding well to training. He already knows many basic commands. Malcolm is a good boy and walks well on a leash, which is pretty amazing for a big dog! Malcolm likes other dogs and gets along well with dogs in the home as well as those he sees on the street. He's still getting used to cats but should go to a home without cats. Malcolm is super friendly to everyone he meets and loves to cuddle. He'd make a great companion for long walks, jogging or hiking. He really is a great dog! We've had Malcolm examined by our vet, neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. If you'd like to meet this healthy, happy boy, please complete our adoption application found on dexterfoundation.com Malcolm needs a foster or forever home. *PLEASE NOTE: The first step is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org * KC is ready for her furever family! We rescued this adorable girl, her 8 littermates and her mama off the streets a few weeks ago. Mom is a golden but dad is unknown. She is now 9 weeks old and can’t wait to meet her furever people. KC is full of playful energy and so much fun. She’s not afraid to tell the boys who’s boss and has some major diva energy going on. We just love her! KC would be best in a home with another dog so they can both be a great mentor and help to put her in her place when her diva tendencies go a little too far. She is incredibly smart and already knows sit! She would participate in puppy school all day if you let her. She loves her snacks! This lil cutie is going to be a fantastic addition to the right family. She is goofy, cuddly and has the biggest personality! If you’re interested in adopting KC please head our website to complete an adoption application! roversretreat.org *PLEASE NOTE: KC is being fostered in Torrance and her adoption fee is $600*

Story
Meet Kenny, a young male Golden Retriever Mix (possibly mixed with shepherd) who came into rescue after his family didn’t have time for him. Kenny is approximately 1 - 1 1/2 years old and is big, playful, sensitive, and very smart. Kenny is basically a big puppy. He is a tall boy with a gorgeous coat and long, fluffy tail. When he chases the ball or runs he is a bit klutzy! He hops and pounces on his toys (and his humans sometimes, but he’s learning). He loves to play tug and fetch.  He is a smart boy and a fast learner. His foster family is working with him on ‘drop it’, and also on some typical puppy behaviors (being mouthy, jumpy, and pawing for attention). He needs daily exercise (30min-1 hr, twice a day walks plus play in between). He’s very energetic but will calm down nicely. Mental stimulation in addition to aerobic exercise is important for him. Kenny can be a bit shy and timid initially.  For instance, the first couple days in your home, he may not eat. Then, you may need to sit nearby while he eats. Or, you may need to hold the bowl while he eats.   Kenny LOVES attention and is persistent about getting your attention if you’re not engaged with him (ie, nose-butting you or grabbing your ankles with his paws). He walks very well on leash, with a few gentle reminders along the way. He will pull toward other dogs and maybe a bark or two but redirects pretty easily. This is not aggression but excitement. He does the same with the neighborhood cats. He is curious and alert when he hears noises around the house. He will alert to it, watch, and cock his head in the most adorable way. New sights and sounds can spook him, so he will need patience and reassurance. If something startles him in the backyard, he will bark, run inside the door…and keep barking toward the outside. He was afraid of the rocking chair, and the black granite fireplace. His foster family is reassuring him by introducing the “thing” again, slowly. They stay near him and let him sniff and explore. This is working well. Kenny was treated very roughly by his former owners, so earning trust can take some time. To help him, Kenny has spent some time with a positive reinforcement trainer where he learned a lot, including “go to place/bed”, Sit, Down, Ready (ie to receive a cue), being gentle with treats, crate training, etc. He was also evaluated for head, neck & ear handling sensitivity which resulted from his former owners rough handling. He does not like being handled around the neck and ears; and will cower and twirl around if you sneak up from behind. Giving him a cue or alert so he knows you’re there helps a lot. Until he learns to trust, Kenny’s humans will need to go slow with him. Kenny thinks every human and dog is a play toy for him. He greets by going fast, right up to a dog’s muzzle and nudging, then going in for the play. He also will “belly-down” and crawl to them. Or, he might just do the play bow, and jump right up to start pawing and gnawing on them (a bit fast for some dogs). Kenny would like a home with active humans and an all-adult home, and also social opportunities to play with other dogs. A yard is important for him as throughout the day he trots around and explores. Someone home more than not – Kenny is smart and will “self-employ” if left alone too long (he gets curious and bored and needs direction). We would like humans who will respect that Kenny needs time to adjust and a continued positive reinforcement approach to be followed to recondition his previous “punishment oriented” training. If you are interested in Kenny, please complete our adoption application. Questions can be directed to nancy@roversretreat.org
