Gentle and easy-going! Grrrrr!! I’m Bear, and I’m a 10-year-old, 98-pound Labrador Retriever Mix looking for my furever home! I came to TAP after being abandoned by my past owners, sadly due to my older age.  I’m a gentle and easy-going boy who is already potty-trained, leash-trained, and neutered.  All you have to say is “potty time” or “let’s go” while on a leash, and I know exactly what to do.  My health is in pretty good shape, but I will need to be evaluated once I have an established vet.  Being the seasoned guy I am, I have slight vision impairment related to normal aging, and I use eye ointment for extra support.  This condition will not lead to blindness, but I may need eye repair surgery in the future.  I also take Cytopoint injections to help with my allergies.  I’m a gentle and introverted pup, who loves my humans.  I’m very smart and pick up easily on the schedule you set for me.  I can be energetic when you come home or when it’s time to go for a walk, but other than that, I’m pretty mellow and love my naps.  My favorite things (besides taking naps) are taking walks, chewing on thick teething bones, and occasionally, playing with balls.  While I don’t mind being around other doggies, I like having my alone time and need slow introductions so that I have time to warm up.  I am very gentle around kids of all ages, and I enjoy receiving love from them.  However, no climbing on me, please, and no sudden movements around me since I can’t see as well as I used to.  Due to my mellow nature, I’d like to be in a mellow home, as well.  However, I’ve done just fine in a busy household with my foster family, living with multiple doggies and constant foot traffic of family and friends who come visit.  I enjoy being in the mix, as well as having a safe area to retreat to when I want some alone time. Overall, I’m a great companion and am just looking for someone special to look past my age and give me a chance.  My adoption fee is $150 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/. ##1698906##

Making it right for Left Eye!  Hello there! My name is Left Eye, and I'm a 2-year-old, neutered male Labrador mix, looking for my forever home. I weigh about 53 lbs. Since my rescue, I have been at my lovely foster home and learnt amazing manners. I am fully bathroom, crate and leash trained. Talk about a lovable smartie pants! I'm friendly, lovable, and have a lot of energy to share with my new family. I get along great with one of my fellow foster dog siblings, one more than the other. I need very slow introductions to other dogs and am working on my dog and leash reactivity. I will be starting my muzzle training to continue ot be the best boy! I will need a strong leader dedicated to maintaining my structure around new dogs and when meeting them. Cats intrigue me, and though I might bark at them from a distance when I'm in my crate, I'm quite curious and approach them with gentle sniffs when we meet face to face. I haven't met kids yet! I must admit, I can be a bit mouthy like a pupper, but I'm learning the ropes of good behavior. All I really want is love, affection, and a warm place to call home. I'm getting better at asking for attention the right way, and I'm eager to please. If you already have a dog or a cat at home, I'd be a fantastic companion for them after a slow, intentional period of introduction and acclimation to set us all up fpr success. I love going for walks and runs, so we can have loads of fun together outdoors. I'm also content to be an only pet. Whether it's just you and me or a home with other furry friends, I'm confident I'll fit right in. I promise to be loyal and loving, bringing joy and happiness to your life. My adoption fee is $450 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/ ##1765260##

Story
Meet your magical sidekick! ‘Ello there! My name is Ron. Just like Harry Potter’s loyal, loving bestie, I’m ready to be your sidekick. I’m a 4-year-old, 36-pound Labrador retriever mix. I was rescued from Azkaban… ahem, I mean the heartbreaking conditions of ESLR in Ensenada. It took more than a little magic to get me out and it’s going to take a bit more spellwork until I’m a fully healthy fella. I’m so excited to turn the page and find my furever family! I’m searching for a loving witch, wizard, or muggle who will foster to adopt me. I have Cerebellar Hypoplasia, Meningoencephalitis (currently under going chemo treatment to try and improve my condition), and a possible seizure disorder. Due to the CH, my hind legs are weak which impacts things such as commands requiring "sit" and jumping onto couches. I’m taking Phenobarbital (~$15.00 a month) and Prednisone (~$7.00 per month). I’m partially blind and do not get vaccines at this time, including oral flea/tick preventatives. Trust me, I know this sounds like a lot, but I pawmise that I’m an easy-going guy who just wants to be loved! I’ve gone through a lot in my little life and I’m so hopeful for a fresh start at Hogwarts… I mean, a home with you! When I’m not brushing up on my Quidditch skills or studying Herbology, you can find me chewing on squeaky toys or bones. I LOVE mealtime and do the cutest hop around the house. I also enjoy exploring around in circles and getting a lay of the land. I get along well with other dogs and currently have foster siblings. I have had a couple of incidents where I’ve nipped out of sheer excitement or for attention(non-aggressive, I swear!) This only happened when I was first in my foster home. Since then, my foster fam has been able to wipe my eyes, paws, and hand-feed me treats without any issues. I’m a well-behaved boy who benefits from a steady routine. I’m very good with my crate, bathroom, and leash training. I need frequent trips outside and may take a little time to acclimate to my new environment but practice makes pawfect! What I need is someone who will be my rock… my Sorcerer’s Stone, some might say. I would do best in a home that can provide me with routine and stability. I’m not necessarily the most affectionate or high-energy pooch, but I’m a great companion who is easy to be around. I have been through a lot and I’m a total trooper. I hope that I’ll charm you and that you can work your magic on me as well! I am a TAP MEDICAL DOG" available for Foster-to-Adopt. My adoption fee is $200 and that includes spaying/neutering and microchip. Story
A steaming cup of Mocha to make your day! Hi friends! I am Mocha, a chocolate Lab mix, about 2.5 years old, 65 lbs and recently spayed female. I was found tied to a tree in Chula Vista, pregnant, and had my litter in the safety of TAP foster home. My littles are off and it's time for mama bear to shine! I am fully bathroom, crate and leash trained. I am working on not being reactive on leash to other dogs and skateboards. I can stay in the crate at home by myself too. I have had a tough life and that's made me a bit shy. But once I open up, I am such a sweet girl full of heaps of sugar! I can be quite timid with strangers, but given the time to trust, I will make pals. I am incredibly cuddly like a steamin' mug and my intelligence has wowed people. With dogs, I am selective, and need to be introduced slowly. I can be reactive at first. I have lived with kids at previous fosters. For me ball is life! I love the beach, sand, and long walks. I would love a sweet and patient family that allows me plenty of time to decompress and trust. I pawmise that once I warm up, I am the sweetest dog ever. I would probably be best in an active home with daily walks and ball fetch sessions. If you ready to grab this cuppa, let's meet up for a cafe date! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. Story
Dip, baby, Dip! Hello! My name is Dip, and I’m a one-year-old spayed Terrier mix female, weighing in at 51 pounds. Since I’ve been in foster care, I’ve been polishing up my skills before heading to my furever home! I’m already potty-trained and couldn’t walk better on a leash.  Though crate training is a work in progress, I’m sure I’ll master it in no time.  My health is in pretty good shape, but I am dealing with some skin allergies.  Currently, I am getting Cytopoint injections (as needed) to help manage this issue (price varies based on established vet), and I’m eating a novel protein diet that includes NO chicken ingredients in food or treats. As for my personality, my foster dad says that I’m pretty special! I’m a sweet, cuddly, and easygoing girl, who loves to talk to everyone.  In fact, I’m jokingly called Hillcrest’s Mayor, since I love saying hi and wiggling my tail to anyone I come across.  I’m also super athletic, and I love to run unleashed in dog parks and play with doggie friends.  I’m not the anxious type, and I don’t make a peep once left behind on my own.  However, I have destroyed some my foster dad’s belongings when she’s out, so I’ll need some additional training in that area. I’d do best in a home with a lot of space, and a big backyard would be ideal.  Doggie siblings would be A-OK with me, but I’m not sure about kitties or kiddos.  Other than that, lots of love and attention would help me become the best girl I can be! Ready to dip your toe in the water with me? If so, my adoption fee is $400 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.  You can also check me out on Instagram at @gahamsi. ##2119198##

Story
This beautiful dog has not had an easy start and needs lots of love and patience to help hertake those last steps to being with a forever family. Apple and her 8 puppies were found at a construction site in TJ where the workers would feed them. They were in a dangerous area just 20 feet from a 4 lane freeway where several dogs had been hit by cars. She would go miles to find food for herself and her pups. She is a happy dog who loves to play with her other doggy friends. ##1355714##

Story
Trolley has undergone an amazing transformation over the last several months.  He came to us after spending several months living in a bush feet off an active trolley track.  He was likely struck at one point based on his face and head scars.  He would run from people, was often seen crossing the tracks from one bush to another and had grabbed the heart of the neighborhood where he roamed.  When we responded to the plea for help our first order of business was putting a halt to the leftover meals and home made dinners everyone would bring over to put in his bush for him when he was gone to find when he returned.  Once humanely trapped it was clear he bore not just physical scars but trauma emotionally.  He would stare at you wide eyed and tense at any attempt to interact.  He was guarded but never showed a sign of aggression.  After several weeks of very slow progress and concerns for his rehab we made a choice to flood him with activity by watching us with other dogs.  The change was almost instantaneous.  He watched the dogs and immediately his behavior changed.  He started to grab toys and in fact to this day has to grab his "baby" when he greets you.  He began to embrace and invite touch so his journey began.    His fear of the world, noise, stimulation and people was intense.  We were not sure he'd ever leave our care.  Regardless, we pushed and balanced his fear with building confidence.  He started to enjoy his walks on property rather than end them in panic.  He now requires careful handling because he's huge and thinks walks are all about zoomies so training has replaced rehab. (that is a good thing)  He would attend intial events quaking behind the table buried in the other dogs just wanting his favorite person to soothe him.  He now rushes forward to greet kids, takes treats and rolls over for belly rubs.  His pack walks used to consist of controlled panic and now start with a body shake off the van and tail wag when he gets back.  It's finally time for him to fly the coop.  His transition will be tough and require someone to be patient while he adjusts.  We are hear to help and visiits to start would be best until he feels safe.  He is great with dogs but underestimates his size and power in play so should not be left with other dogs unsupervised but would do best with another confident dog in the home.  He is big and strong, will always be prone to unexpected panic so requires a strong handler.  His heart is HUGE and when he lets you in you'll drown in it.   Because of my Flight Risk I cannot be left unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures and my new family must be aware of open doors and windows.  NO offleash activities in unfenced areas for life. Story
Macy is 10 years old and I bought her from a breeder when she was 5 weeks. She's a loving animal but my recent divorce has landed me in an apartment and her losing her backyard and her family. I work long hours and it's not fair for her to be locked up in an apartment all day long, she deserves better than what I can provide for her. Macy is great at dog parks and the ocean and she loves looooong walks. That hound in her keeps her nose working while walking and she could care less about other animals which is great at times. She responds to sit, come, lay down and leave it and my whistle sound.
