Story
Marvel loves cuddles and is pretty chill, he'll lay by you every chance he gets. He is crate trained. He knows commands like Sit, Lay down, leave it, stay (most times), drop it, kennel, inside. He will guard his food if other dog(s) are around but does not have issues with humans touching his food. He tends to be more dominant during play, but he will also let his brother gnaw on his ear when he's winding down. He tends to jump up when excited for play, but will stop if you tell him down. He does take some time to warm up but once he does he's a love bug. Loves his ears being massaged. Posting this has been the hardest thing to do and I hope I'm able to find a loving home for him because he deserves the best.

Story
It breaks our hearts to rehome Duke, our family dog, but we want to ensure he gets the love and care he deserves. Duke is a 5-year-old black Labrador Retriever, full of energy, and loves to play. Unfortunately, due to physical limitations (I’ve had two knee replacements), I can no longer provide him with the exercise and care he needs. He pulls on the leash and requires a strong, active owner who can give him daily walks, playtime, xxxx@xxxx.x deserves a home where he can thrive and be part of an active family. If you’re interested in providing a loving home, please reach out and thank you for reading

This doggo is a real gem that no one had noticed!Andy is this handsome, sweet, smart, loyal, happy yellow lab mix who needs a forever home with a fenced yard and lots of love and attention. He is a little less than two years old and 57 pounds. I took him in about a month ago from a home where he was treated more like a stray than a pet, and since then he has learned to sit for treats and food and he is already house-trained! Super smart and beautiful dog. He loves cuddling, he barks at strangers who approach the house but he doesn't bite or show any aggression. He loves other dogs of all sizes and cats and people. He is in excellent health, has his first shots, and eats really well. He is great at the vet - let them bathe him and cut his nails without a hitch. He is young enough that you will be able to fold him into your family's lifestyle as if he were a puppy but big enough to seem like a guard dog already. My Adoption Fee is Waived!I`m an affectionate guy and called the `Snuggle King` for my love of giving kisses and affection. I`m active, super smart & have tons of personality... I know, sit, down, wait, watch me & am housebroken. I`m a busy boy always looking for my next adventure. Swimming, fetching & lizard hunting are three of my favorite activities.I do quite well walking with the EasyWalk Harness. I would do best in an adult home. I do sometimes `borrow` household and clothing items to play with... and I`m perfectly happy in my crate with a safe long-lasting chew if you`re busy and can`t watch me.I have participated in shelter playgroups with males and females and have shared my kennel with several dogs in the past. I`m a little too rambunctious for some of the boring dogs, though. If you have a dog who needs a friend, bring it to the shelter for a meet and greet. Come by and meet him soon, and for now, you can check him out in shelter playgroups videos below:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!

My Adoption Fee is Waived!Dogs: YesKids: Older kids are okCats: No Crate Trained: YesLeash Trained: Yes on a head harnessHousetrained: Working on itMeet Lionel, your future soul mate. He’s a lovable dork whose silly personality and heart-throb looks win over everyone he meets. Lionel is a lovely work in progress, but aren`t we all? He’s a medium energy guy that would love to join you on your daytime adventures and then crash on the couch with you for a Netflix marathon once he’s had some good exercise.Lionel is new to household living, but he’s learning fast. He’s still a bit like a mischievous puppy in that he’ll carry around your shoes and nibble your fingers.  Oh and he’s a tall guy so that kitchen counter is just at nose height! Right now supervision and managing him like a puppy in the house helps him make all the right choices. He really wants to make you happy and learn, so he will quickly earn more freedom and house privileges. When he gets in trouble his signature move is to flop on his back and convince you he’s totally innocent.Lionel currently lives with 4 other large dogs in his foster home.He gets along well with everyone, although not everyone appreciates his dorky clumsy play style.  No kitties for Lionel, they are too fun to chase.  His current foster home has older kids and he does well with them.  Check him out in this video with his favorite kid friend!Lionel is smart and knows the basics like sit, down, and wait, with a side of `4 on the floor` etiquette in progress. He`s a joy to walk with a gentle leader, calmly taking in the world. He sleeps through the night in a crate. He loves chew toys and bones and will even play fetch. So, if you`re looking for an epic true love who’s all heart and silliness, Lionel might just be the companion you`ve been searching for.

Story
Meet Daphne - the beauty queen! Daphne is about 2.5 months old and is the cutest little love muffin. You better watch out, because she is bound to steal your heart with her velvety soft coat and endearing personality. She is looking for a large dog-savvy active family who has the time to dedicate to helping her grow up to be the best girl she can be. Daphne currently weighs around 12lbs and will likely be at least 50-60lbs when fully grown. Daphne came to us from a local shelter after she was found abandoned with her three siblings. The puppies were at the shelter for a few weeks, during which time one of the four siblings was adopted. One of our foster homes then stepped up to foster the remaining trio. Daphne is the last of the group to be adopted. Daphne is the pretty one of the group, but she isn't just a cute face. She is such an affectionate girl who loves to make new friends and explore. When she isn't adding new people to her fan base, her favorite activities include wrestling with her siblings and racing around with her squeaker toys. She is doing great learning her basic manners, but has lots to learn and needs a family who can commit the time to continue her training. She would be a great candidate for puppy classes. Daphne has done well meeting new dogs and we think she would do best in a home with a playful dog who can mentor her, and so she always has a buddy to romp around with. Daphne hasn't met cats before but is young enough that she could probably do well living with dog-savvy cats with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Daphne could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years or older. Daphne is still working on her house and crate training but has been doing well learning. Her new family will need to be patient with her and consistent with letting her out to help her learn. Daphne hasn't spent too much time alone, so she needs a family who has a schedule that will allow her to slowly get comfortable with being left alone. Daphne is such an amazing little girl and she can't wait to meet her fur-ever family. if you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Daphne's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website  (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. Story
Magpie is the epitome of adorable! Magpie (aka Maggie) is estimated to be about 2 months old and is a sweet and sensitive girl who can't wait to meet her fur-ever family! She would thrive with an active family who has the time to dedicate to keep her days full of fun and enrichment. Maggie currently weighs around 7lbs. Her mom weighs around 55lbs and her suspected dad weighs around 50lbs. She is a super mutt, but we think she will be medium/large sized when fully grown based on her parents' sizes. Maggie came to us from another rescue, BONES Pet Rescue, in Covelo, CA. BONES works with the stray and feral dogs in the area to get the puppies to other rescues and gets the parents spayed/neutered and adopted. They reached out needing rescue placement for two litters of puppies. We were able to take a little or four (Robin, Drake, Jay, and Phoebe) and a puppy from the larger litter (Mapgpie) and the rest went to other local rescues. These kiddos are looking for individual homes so they can get the one-on-one attention they need. Maggie is the baby of the group. She is a loving girl who is looking for a family who can help her gain some confidence. She is slowly learning how big and great the world is and has been adjusting well to life as an indoor puppy. Maggie loves to cuddle and is more than happy to make herself cozy in your lap for naps.  She is still learning all her basic manners, so needs a family committed to continuing her training and socialization.  Maggie has done great living with other dogs and we think she would do best with a playful adult dog in her new home to help mentor her. Maggie has been very polite with the cats in her foster home and could do well living with cats in her new home with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Maggie has done well living with kids and could be a great addition to a family with kids 10 years or older. Maggie is still working on her house and crate training, so her new family will need to be patient with her and expect accidents. She would do best with a family who has a schedule that will allow them to slowly acclimate her to being home alone. Magpie can't wait to be your new best friend! If she sounds like the girl for you, submit an adoption application today!   Magpie's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website  (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. *** THIS IS A COURTESY POST, THIS ANIMAL IS NOT AT THE SHELTER. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MEETING THIS ANIMAL, PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE OWNER AT: amberlimonbeall@gmail.com *** Biscuit is a 4 year old intact female labrador/schnauzer mix. She is looking for a new home without children or other animals. This is what her current owner says about her: Over the past two months she has become very aggressive to our elderly dog. Has attacked her a few times. (She’s a small poodle mix) she just recently nipped at one of my kids. My child wasn’t doing anything to her but she was sitting on a blanket that he was playing on and she got upset and nipped him. Didn’t draw any blood but I have another child who is autistic and I can’t take that chance. She nipped my son. No stitches. Right after it happened she got up and went to her kennel. She didn’t growl to warn anyone either. She was being protective of a blanket on the floor(that is my kids Lego blanket so she had no claim to it) She’s really a great dog but I think she’s better for a home without kids or other animals. She’s an absolute sweetheart. We have no idea what is going on but we our special needs child we cannot take a chance. *** THIS IS A COURTESY POST, THIS ANIMAL IS NOT AT THE SHELTER. Story
We found Kairo dumped on the side of the road, dodging traffic on the highway on-ramp. He had no collar, no chip, and no claim made on him. We took him in, but can no longer keep him. He is not a good fit for our family. Our oldest dog does not like him, but Kairo loves and gets along with our other dog. Kairo is very sweet and loves quality time. He needs an active family who is willing to take him out on trips, and who has the time to give him the attention and care he needs. He needs a loving and patient home. We believe he has abandonment issues, so being 100% transparent, he is an excessive barker when anyone leaves the room. He is just like a little puppy in a big dog’s body, so he has the excitement of a puppy and the strength of a big dog. He is incredibly intelligent and when he is properly exercised he is very calm and gentle. We want him to have a second chance to find a beautiful and fulfilling forever home. We believe Kairo will be a wonderful lifelong partner for someone.
