Story
Hi there! My name is Brutus!I ’ve been having some amazing adventures lately. Here’s what my friends have to say about me:Doggie Day Out - 1/18:Today, my girlfriend and I took Brutus around town for a Doggie Day Out! He was so sweet and happy all day, and his tail never stopped wagging!Despite being a stone’s throw from an ‘athletic’ physique, he surprised us by being a driven walker, putting in well over two miles on the day. We took him to Southside Park, McKinley Park, Pushkin’s Bakery, and a ‘Sniff Spot’ we found in West Sac. He doesn’t seem to have a reactive bone in his gigantic body, and he seldom barked. When he saw other dogs and people, he was very friendly and wagged his tail. His leash skills are pretty good, but he does put his weight into his desired direction, which is not always the direction desired by you. He is also very curious and loves to explore and sniff everything!Brutus is both toy and food motivated, but keep in mind when choosing toys that he is a super chewer! He was great in the car, apart from the fact he seemed a little anxious due to some panting. Overall, Brutus is a big, goofy, cuddly dude, and he will be a spectacular addition to any family willing to spend a bit of time training and loving him!Doggie Day Out - 1/22:Easy as a Sunday morning. This big guy is so chill and sweet. Don’t let his size fool you—he listens very well, comes when called, and stays close. He seems a little anxious in the car, with some panting, but he got in and out of the car on his own (even though I helped a bit). As a small female (115 lbs), I felt in control the whole time because he never tugged on the leash. He’s the perfect companion for a mix of exploring and sniffing around, followed by a good, long nap.We started our day by cruising Home Depot, where he made lots of friends (even in the garden center). Next, we stopped at PetSmart for some more exploring and socializing. Afterward, we hung out at Starbucks, people-watching, where he was calm and well-behaved, even with people walking by.Our final stop was the park, where there was a lot of action—cop cars, fire trucks, and even an officer who walked up to us to ask a question and meet Brutus. Brutus didn’t react at all and was as calm as ever. He spent time sniffing around and then relaxed in the grass, surrounded by people, children, and squirrels. He would look at them but didn’t react.Brutus truly is an amazing dog who would make a wonderful companion. He deserv

It breaks our hearts to rehome Duke, our family dog, but we want to ensure he gets the love and care he deserves. Duke is a 5-year-old black Labrador Retriever, full of energy, and loves to play. Unfortunately, due to physical limitations (I’ve had two knee replacements), I can no longer provide him with the exercise and care he needs. He pulls on the leash and requires a strong, active owner who can give him daily walks, playtime, xxxx@xxxx.x deserves a home where he can thrive and be part of an active family. Story
Hi I’m Zorro! I’m a 5 year old Pitbull/Lab mix. My two favorite things to do are play fetch and sunbathe. I’m also a huge fan of cuddles and belly rubs. I make my family feel very safe, yet am always excited to meet new people and would do great with a single owner, couple or family who has older children. I’m potty/house trained and know sit, stay, lay down and shake commands. I’m high energy and love to run around or go on walks. I am neutered and vaccinated.

Story
I got her in May 2024 from my son as a temporary situation due to housing, but it has turned into longterm, so we decided to rehome her. She is chipped in my name and I got her shots. She is around 1-1/2 years old. I have mobility issues so it is hard to take her for a walk. I just cannot take care of her. She loves being outside, so having a fenced in backyard is a must. She is friendly with everyone. She jumps up on everyone, so she needs some training that is why I do not know how she would do with small children. She loves playing with her ball and cuddling up to you at night. I fell in love with her, so I need her to go to someone who has time for her and can add her to their family. I have not had her around other dogs and cats so I do not know how she would do. I just got her fixed through the SPCA. She has a tendency to play rough and I cannot handle that as it is hard on my body.

*** THIS IS A COURTESY POST, THIS ANIMAL IS NOT AT THE SHELTER. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MEETING THIS ANIMAL, PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE OWNER AT: amberlimonbeall@gmail.com *** Biscuit is a 4 year old intact female labrador/schnauzer mix. She is looking for a new home without children or other animals. This is what her current owner says about her: Over the past two months she has become very aggressive to our elderly dog. Has attacked her a few times. (She’s a small poodle mix) she just recently nipped at one of my kids. My child wasn’t doing anything to her but she was sitting on a blanket that he was playing on and she got upset and nipped him. Didn’t draw any blood but I have another child who is autistic and I can’t take that chance. She nipped my son. No stitches. Right after it happened she got up and went to her kennel. She didn’t growl to warn anyone either. She was being protective of a blanket on the floor(that is my kids Lego blanket so she had no claim to it) She’s really a great dog but I think she’s better for a home without kids or other animals. She’s an absolute sweetheart. We have no idea what is going on but we our special needs child we cannot take a chance. *** THIS IS A COURTESY POST, THIS ANIMAL IS NOT AT THE SHELTER. Story
Meet Delta! Delta is a friendly and energetic 6-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever looking for a new home where she can thrive. She’s been part of her current family since she was 10 weeks old and has been well-loved, but her owners feel she would do best in a home where she can get the one-on-one attention she deserves. Delta is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, potty trained, and crate trained. She has lived as an inside dog and is used to being part of the family. While she allows people to take away toys and food, she has recently shown signs of food aggression toward the family’s elderly dog. She would do best in a home without other pets unless they are fed separately. Delta gets very excited when meeting people and may jump in her enthusiasm, so she’s often crated when small children are around to prevent accidental tumbles. She’s looking for a new family who can provide her with consistent training, patience, and lots of love. With the right attention and guidance, Delta has so much potential to be a wonderful companion. If you’re interested in meeting Delta, please contact McKenna at 916-284-9338 or email mmckennasisemore10@gmail.com. Let’s help Delta find her perfect forever home! Story
We found Kairo dumped on the side of the road, dodging traffic on the highway on-ramp. He had no collar, no chip, and no claim made on him. We took him in, but can no longer keep him. He is not a good fit for our family. Our oldest dog does not like him, but Kairo loves and gets along with our other dogs. Kairo is very sweet and loves quality time. He needs an active family who is willing to take him out on trips, and who has the time to give him the attention and care he needs. He needs a loving and patient home. He is just like a little puppy in a big dog body. He is incredibly intelligent and when he is properly exercised he is very calm and gentle. We want him to have a second chance to find a beautiful and fulfilling forever home. We believe Kairo will be a wonderful lifelong partner for someone.

Story
We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs home leaving on 1/31/25 to NorCal and OR. Surrounding states will be added to our route if needed ☺️ We would love to add Ruby to our trip for the right home 💕 Meet our beautiful Ruby ❤️ She is a 7 month old. purebred, red golden retriever. She currently weighs 35 lbs. No, she is not full grown yet. She is estimated to be around 45/50 lbs full grown. Yes, she will be your smaller golden as she matures into adulthood. She is set to be thourely examined by our vet on 1/28/25 where she will recieve her one year vaccines, be microchipped, and will be given a health certificate stating everything went perfect, and that she is in great health. We already sent in a fecal test to the lab to check for worms, and once the results are back in she will be treated accordingly to what's seen, if anything. All of her medical records willl go home with her new adopting family. She is too young to spay, as it's recommended for her to reach full maturity so that her growth plates can fully close prior to sterilization so she will be going home on a spay contract. She is crate trained, and currently sleeps in her crate at night which she does beautifully with without a sound til morning. She does patiently wait for you to wake up, but is an early riser herself so if you tend to sleep in a bit to long she will let you know that she needs to potty. She is very good at communicating with you when she needs something, so I would recommend to beat her to the punch and set your alarm so you can meet her needs first 🙃 She is doing very good at house training, and as long as you have a good schedule of letting her outside throughout the day then she will not have any accidents in your home. She is alert and communicative in the crate, but during the day we are very diligent in letting her out every few hours, so she rarely has to tell us she needs to go out as we are just on top of it! Leash training is new, but she is doing much better at it the more we work on it. She is young and will learn in time the joy the leash brings when she gets to partake on the many ventures every goldens heart desires to partake in. Continued training will need to be happen in her next home, but I assure you that she will not make it hard whatsoever to pick up where we leave off ❤️ She is wonderful with all dogs, and cats alike. She is a sweet girl, with a kind spirit, and a gentle soul. She is a friend to every single animal she has ever met while with us here, and as long as the animals in her next home welcome her with love, she will be their friend too 😊 She has really great house manners, and listens very well. She is a bit mischievous at heart, and will try and grab things she shouldn't have (and she knows she shouldn't have 😂, ) but once we lock eyes she already knows she has been caught and will surrender whatever she has freely 🙃 She overall, is absolutely a joy and has brought a lot of laughter to our home and has definitely taught us to give full attention at times 😅 but all in all we love her and all of her antics, as we know you will too! She rides wonderful in the car, and will make an amazing road trip partner to anyone looking to travel with their dog in tow! She is very good at bath time, and loves to lay in the tub soaking, so we make sure to top her off with warm water to keep the experience enjoyable 😂 she is very spoiled, but we wouldn't have it any other way 🙃 Her prior home didn't quite know how to raise a young golden, and instead of working with her they proceeded to leave her outdoors with their bigger dogs who sadly weren't very nice to her. They started bullying her to the extent she couldn't eat unless her owner was present. They didn't know what to do as their other dogs were older, and had been with them their whole life while Ruby was new to their family and ultimately felt that maybe they shouldn't have brought a new dog into their pack as it didn't go as they had hoped, and without them wanting to really put any effort into training her to be inside away from their big dogs they decided the best thing to do was to surrender her to us here to find her a better home. (Which we are extremely thankful for!) Ruby is very shy when she meets anyone she doesn't know. She is learning that everyone around her is here to help her, and love her the way she deserved to be from day one. She gets so excited and will run and leap around you when you are showing her attention (you can just see and feel the joy radiating from her in those moments,) which tell us every thing is going to be okay! We are looking for an adopter/adopters that will come in and take over loving her as unconditionally as we have, who has understanding she will still need some time to settle in and feel secure in her next home, and that will commit to her growth for the rest of her life simply because she deserves nothing less! Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/_ruby-1 (If she needs to be dewormed then her fee will increase to cover the deworming needed.) Her adoption fee covers her vaccines, microchip/registration, exam with our vet, the overall care involved in the time she has been here with us, her grooming costs, and her training that we will continue to do with her until she finds a home all her own ❤️
