Story
LOCATION: SANCTUARY IN WILLITS, CA. Pearl is a sweet, sensitive girl, she is looking to bond with someone special. *Owner Surrender Notes* 4/14/16 "Pearl is a perhaps a sight hound mix, as opposed to a Lab - she is lean and lanky, elegant with a hounds barrel chest. She is sensitive and elegant - and fast! She can sit, shake, and lay down. She loves to chew on her bone and play with her Kong. She can be a bit nippy and territorial. She interacts and plays with our small dog just fine. Pearl is crate trained and we use this method when we leave the house. She eats a grain free diet - typically Turkey and sweet potato. She hasn't done well with chicken in the past, seems to upset her stomach. Pearl definitely needs to be placed with someone who has a lot of property because she is high energy. Our family hopes she will find a good home. Potty trained. Territorial around my kids friends. Needs a loving home with lots of room to run and play." Thank you for considering adoption of a Milo Foundation Sanctuary dog. Our Sanctuary is where our rescued dogs who have had difficulty in a home in the past, have behavioral issues, or too much energy, or for some, aggression issues with other dogs, or intense stranger danger that make them more difficult to safely and happily live in urban environments. These are not beginner dogs or for the most part nor are they for families with children. IF you are looking for an easy dog to add to your family, we suggest looking at the dogs at our Adoption Center, Milo Pt Richmond. BUT, if you can offer a safe and nurturing home to a dog with some behavioral "quirks" please do send an application today. Thank you.

Story
LOCATION: SANCTUARY IN WILLITS, CA. **My adoption fee is one half off! Adoption fee: $200.** Melody has it all and wants to share it with her forever family! This beautiful nugget of a dog is smart, affectionate, and great with teenagers (16 & up). Young, energetic, and people-oriented, she just wants to play the day away with her people in a yard or go walking on trails. Melody needs a firm guardian and correction for the jumping and nipping she does - small little grabs at clothes and occasionally that tiny little bit of a pinch on skin - she can be an exuberant jumping bean! We have worked with her but it needs to continue - trying to crop her wings and keep her grounded is a fete! Melody is not a dog park dog, she is an alpha dog, and a super physical player. She is best suited to being the only dog in a home and no cats or young children. She is happy to run and play in a yard; she loves treats and may do scent work - hide and seek.... She is best with stay at home folks with a big yard and as a running companion! This girl is a real go-getter like a big active lab crammed into a tidy little chunk of a body that's bursting at the seams! Because of her active nature, Melody will do best in an environment with a tall, secure fence. Her above average intelligence has led her to become a bit of an escape artist and she is adept at climbing fences and opening doors (but not to run away... just to be with you!). However, these tendencies are fixable since Melody is a good listener who is eager to please and very treat motivated. Melody understands hand signals and voice commands, she will stop any undesirable behavior with correction, and making the effort, providing consistency and enough exercise she will want to please! If you think you are ready for a go-getter-girl like Melody, come meet her at Milo today! **Melody's adoption fee is one half off! Adoption fee: $200. Melody comes with a 20 day get acquainted period with her adoption, time to adjust to her new surroundings. Please give time and patience to new adoptees, particularly dogs from the Milo Sanctuary. Thank you for considering adoption of a Milo Foundation Sanctuary dog. Story
Meet handsome, sweet and goofy, Bert! He can be both playful and calm, depending on what his person is doing. Playful when you're up for a game of fetch and calm when everything is quiet. He can be downright snuggly when it's time to watch your favorite show. Bert is intelligent, observant and curious about anything new. He will immediately explore and sniff to check things out - he also is a bit of a chow hound! Bert is a true romantic enjoying long walks on the beach and taking hikes with his favorite person. Bert is house-trained and knows commands like sit and shake. He walks well on leash, and needs to be a solo dog or wear a muzzle in public places as he doesn't love challenges by other dogs. Bert would like to be the only dog in the home and needs a family that can be happy without taking him to dog-centric places like dog parks. Staying home and playing, trail walks on leash, neighborhood strolls are all good with Bert! He'd love to hang out and garden with you, watch you swim in your pool, hang out on the porch happy to greet you when you return home, he truly is a love. Bert would love to meet you, so fill out an application and let's make it happen! Adoption fee: $300

Story
This pretty girl is Roxy.  She has been in our care for awhile.  She is almost 2 and has been through a lot.   Her eye developed ulcerations and it had to be removed.  It doesn't seem to have affected her at all as she is super friendly and playful and has become another of our pirate queens.  If you want, you can buy her a pirate patch and maybe a cute bandana on her head, teach her to say AARRGH - we won't judge you!  She could be a social media star and have a billion followers. Or just delight and amuse your family for the next 15 years.  We don't know what the future holds for her, but we do know that she is a happy girl who is looking for a home and we hope you take her into consideration as your new family member.   Roxy is about 2 years old and weighs about 65 lbs.  She feell behind in her exercise routine after she had surgery on her elbow.  It is an area that takes awhile to heal but she has and is doing great and dropping weight now that she can move about freely.  As she is a Lab mix we think she could become a great walking/running partner. She needs more room to move around and exercise, and big comfy beds (or maybe the couch?), and big bowls.  She will give you big hugs and big love too!!   She loves people of many sizes but she doesn't like a crate.  She is perfectly happy on her bed on the floor.  She is potty trained and leash trained.  We are a little in love with her adorable white front 'ankle socks'.  Look at these eyes saying please take this good girl? Roxy will come to you spayed and fully vetted. ADOPTION FEE:  $475.00 ##1547574##

I’m a silly and affectionate boy and will be very loyal to my humans. I was rescued with my siblings that are also up for adoption. Story
This is Pine! He’s a sweet and loyal dog we adopted from ARF in 2021. Pine is devoted to his people and loves walks, though dog parks aren’t his thing. He’s more on the quiet and shy side and can be afraid of other dogs. He is great with kids and cats and has never shown any aggression. He’s a gentle soul who wants to hang out and be part of the family. We’re heartbroken to be rehoming Pine, but we are moving into an apartment, and with our work schedules getting crazier, he’s spending way too much time alone. We want him to have more attention and love than we can give him. Pine would be awesome in a home with a family who’s into walks, cuddles, and spoiling him with attention. He’s well-behaved when left alone—he’s never chewed anything or had accidents in the house. Also, he is super quiet and rarely ever barks. Since he was rescued off the street, we are unsure of his exact age and breed, but we believe he is about eight years old and is a lab mix.

Story
MIKEY 2-Year-Old Black Lab Mix 67 Pounds, Neutered Background: Mikey is a remarkable boy who defies all odds with his boundless enthusiasm and infectious zest for life. He does have malformed forelimbs, but don't let that fool you – his mobility remains untouched. Mikey found himself searching for a forever home due to circumstances beyond his control. His previous owners, regretfully, had to part ways with him because their apartment complex didn’t allow large dogs. What Mikey's Foster Says: Mikey is a super sweet energetic pup with a loving and goofy personality and easy-going manners. He's an incredibly cuddly dog and loves belly rubs. He will pull for the first few minutes of every walk or whenever he sees a dog but otherwise settles down and walks well. Mikey loves attention and is great with passersby out on walks or when sitting at an outdoor restaurant. He loves meeting dogs, but won't "play" with them until he's met them a few times and then he'll chase them or play tug. He doesn't love super aggressive or energetic play and will walk away if a dog is too high-octane for him. When he's off-leash, he can be shy at first when meeting new people and he sometimes barks, especially if he's approached by men or if they try to pet him before he's ready. However, we've had him for two months and have seen a ton of improvement. He goes to an off-leash dog play area twice a day and we've been having most new people feed him treats before he can bark. He's become much better with strangers to where he'll approach them to see if he can sniff out treats or get pets. His leg deformities (overgrown ulnas in each leg according to the vet) barely slow him down, with his only limitations being longer walks. Otherwise, he has all the energy that one expects of a two-year-old and wants to play. He's well-behaved at home. With the exception of one flip-flop, he only plays with his toys and will stay off furniture he's not allowed on. He's crate-trained and sleeps through the night in his crate with no issues. However, we are working on not jumping on people (especially people with food in their hands!) or checking out the countertops. He has been quick to pick up commands (it seems like he knew some basic ones) and very eager to please, but will shy away from harsh words or discipline. Overall he has a middling-to-good recall. He needs some additional work with separation anxiety — he will yelp/whimper/bark a little when left in his crate alone. He would be ok in a home with another dog or dogs — he's lived in his previous foster home with two additional black lab rescues aged 5 and 6 — but feel he would really flourish in his own home. Ok with cats — is curious and will follow them around but doesn’t appear to have any aggression towards them. What Mikey's Rescue Rep Says: Upon meeting Mikey, I met a very friendly and sweet dog that jumped up for attention. He let me touch him all over and welcomed pets. He lived with two small dogs, one that was a little bully and was biting at Mikey's legs, to which Mikey could care less and was more interested in saying hello. We walked around the apartment complex; Mikey did pull but the harness he was wearing was pretty loose. He appeared happy to be out, eagerly pulled towards another dog to say hello, and was fine encountering different people out on the walk. Mikey is the epitome of loyalty and affection. Once he knows you, he becomes a steadfast friend, always by your side, ready to offer cuddles and companionship. He appreciates slow introductions and gentle approaches, which will allow him to blossom into the trusting and affectionate dog he truly is. Mikey harbors a deep aversion to visits to the vet, likely stemming from past experiences. While his fear may make these trips a challenge, it also presents an opportunity for his future family to nurture a sense of trust and security within him. With patience, gentle reassurance, and understanding, Mikey has the potential to overcome his fear and establish a trusting relationship with a caring and patient veterinarian. In the right hands, he can blossom into a confident and happy pup, ready to embark on countless adventures with his new family. Mikey will require a home where he won't be left alone for long stretches of the day and one where he will be a welcomed part of the family. Mikey is searching for a patient and understanding family who can provide him with a loving, forever home. An existing furry companion could be a bonus, as Mikey truly enjoys the company of other dogs. Because he tends to jump on people, a home with small children is not recommended. Medical: Mikey is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date with Rabies, DHPP, and Lepto. Mikey's forelimbs were x-rayed and two vets didn't believe anything practical could be done but as he gets older, could likely develop arthritis. He has shortened ulnas which has led to bowing in his radius. The recommendation was to start him on Dasuquin, which we have, to slow down any arthritis. In consultation with a specialist: surgery was recommended if there was any significant discomfort or impairment to the quality of life which is not the case with Mikey. Should Mikey begin to experience any mobility issues in the future, the specialist suggested exploring surgery at that time. Located In: San Francisco. Story
Dominic -- 10+-year-old black male Lab mix 70-lbs Neutered Background: Dominic's owner recently died, and his caretaker has asked us to find him a fabulous new home. Dominic has lived as an outside dog for the past few months... (but he is now really enjoying life indoors)... What Dominic's Former Caretaker Says: My friend passed away in March and I have been trying to find a home for his dog since then. I believe he is a 12-years-old. I think Dominic has lost some weight since he's been with me; his prior owner had fed him way too much people food. Dominic loves to go on walks. Not sure if he is housebroken. He loves to play with other dogs. He doesn't show any possessiveness over food or toys, but he really hates to give up his toy...no growling, just a stubborn old man. We play ball with Dominic in our backyard and he loves to play with and chase my grandson. Likes to chase cats, but does not harrn them. What Dominic's Evaluator Says: Dominic is probably 10-12 years old. Dominic is very engaging and friendly. Loves being touched and petted. Let me touch and poke/prod him all over. No food guarding -- for both dry kibble (which he wasn't really interested in) and wet canned dog food (which he gobbled right down). Not interested in squeaky toy. Pulls on leash (with flat collar). Did fine with my dog Diesel. Videos from caretaker showed Dominic hanging out just fine with little dogs. Dominic is definitely a mix... I see Lab and possible Rottie -- I think Dominic is a mix of multiple breeds... A little bit of a drooler. What Dominic's Foster Says: What a nice, affectionate dog. If you have a lap, he wants to climb up into it. Rides great in the car. Loves going on walks, but kinda meanders all over the place. Sleeps through the night with nary a peep. Not interested in squeaky toys. A bit of a picky eater, I've had to dress up his dry kibble with some wet food which he gobbles down. He is house broken but not crate trained. He sleeps on a coach (covered by a blanket). Dominic is good left alone and doesn’t chew things up, but I pick up the recycling bag at night if there is a used dog food can in it. He alert barks; Dominic is quiet in the house except when the doorbell rings... but he doesn’t keep barking and stops when told to. He doesn’t have separation anxiety. He is great with people and kids but suggest supervision around toddlers because he is a big guy and could accidentally knock them over. He is okay with most other dogs but gets excited so supervised meet and greets are best. He is a lover. Dominic loves to be cuddled first thing in the am. He Is good on a head leash and a 30-min walk is best. He sleeps a lot, loves the car and loves to be with people. When he needs to go out, he paces by the door and looks at you. He doesn’t bark though so you need to let him about after 3-4 hours in case you missed his signal. When I am gone, he self-limits the water drinking so no accidents. He is used to going about 10-11 hours overnight. He is a lovely guy. What Dominic's Rover.com Dogwalker Says: This boy deserves a good home. Anyone would be lucky to have him. Dominic is a lovable pup that is all about genuine affection. He's such sweetheart, always eager to be close and show his love with cuddles and occasional kisses. What makes Dominic stand out is his easy-going nature. He just wants to love and be loved. On walks, he's generally well-behaved, but his excitement can occasionally get the best of him when he spots other dogs or humans. He might give a gentle tug, but we've been working with him and he's quick to correct, eager to continue the stroll with a wagging tail or say hello when given the “okay”. He shows no aggression, just excitement at the possibility of a new friend. Despite his tough looking exterior, Dominic is a softie at heart. He is always eager to please and be a loyal companion and shows no resistance to any kind of training given to him. Dom is proof that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! Dom would be the perfect addition to a person or family looking for a loyal, gentle, and affectionate companion. What Dominic' Rescue Rep Says: Dominic appears to have lived a hard life. Deserving of a nice relaxing new home. Dominic would do fine in a home with other dogs but he may appreciate being an only dog so his people can focus solely on him. Probably not house-broken so that will take some work. Time for this guy to learn what living inside a home with his people is all about. Great dog for older folks that just want a wonderful dog hanging around. Medical: Dominic is current on Rabies and distemper vaccinations, and heartworm negative. In Mid-September he was microchipped, neutered, and had a benign mass on his lower abdomen removed. Teeth are quite worn down but we did not see any broken, cracked or rotten teeth (maybe from chewing on rocks). Appears to have some fur loss on his hind quarters and tail -- likely due to fleas and has been growing back. Located In: Petaluma. If you are interested in adopting Dominic, contact Rescue Rep Dave at david.c.ely@sbcglobal.net. Please note our service area: GGLRR adopts to the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Story
Hunk is a 2.5 year old black Labrador, probably a mix, intact. He was acquired as a 7 month old puppy; the story provided was that he was in training to be a guide dog for the blind but failed training due to anxiety issues. Hunk is very friendly with other dogs and wants to play. He doesn't fetch but likes to run and tug. He can be off leash but his recall isn't great, though he's not a bolter, just a selective hearer. Hunk lived with two cats and has lived part-time with a Chihuahua mix. He's proven to be good with cats and small dogs; he wants to play but will back off. Behavioral problems: Hunk is anxious, afraid of loud noises and traffic. He startles easily, and if on leash, will pull very hard to get to safety (home). He's nervous about strangers but easily soothed. Outside of his anxiety, Hunk has a delightful temperament, and it seems like most of his behavioral issues could be fairly easily resolved with a change in environment and companionship, which we cannot provide.

Story
Note: Special Needs Dog due to Behavior/Shyness. This dog is bonded and must be adopted with Pepe. Are you looking for a gorgeous dog? What about a very shy dog? If you answered yes to both of these questions, Chee Yoo could be the perfect dog for you. Chee Yoo is a beautiful, 5 yo medium/large female dog that came to Jelly's Place from South Korea in July 2021. Why has such a wonderful dog not been adopted yet? Read further to find out. Chee Yoo is very timid and nervous around people. She LOVES other dogs, and has become best friends with another Jelly's dog named Pepe. Pepe has a very similar personality to Chee Yoo and the two of them are like 2 peas in a pod. Chee Yoo can guard her food which is not surprising given where she came from. So, care needs to be taken with another dog when food, especially high value foods, are around. During her time at Jelly's Place, Chee Yoo has gone from hiding in the corner to taking daily walks on a leash. She is becoming more comfortable and confident, but still has a long way to go. She has learned to trust her primary caregiver, but is still not comfortable interacting with other people. Chee Yoo would do best in a calm, quiet home with dog experience and older or no children. Chee Yoo is NOT a dog for first time adopters. She needs adopters who are willing to be patient and to give her the time and space she needs to feel comfortable, confident and loved. Another dog in the home is essential. and we prefer to keep Chee Yoo with her buddy Pepe. If you are interested in adopting Chee Yoo, we recommend that you come and spend time with her on several occasions so that she becomes comfortable with you. Chee Yoo is UTD on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. Applications are being accepted and qualified applicants will be contacted.
