Story
(born May 2022) I adopted Frankie from a family when she was a year old - she was so calm! She is unfazed by fireworks, sudden noises, or garbage trucks driving by. At the dog park, she loves to run, but, if other dogs start playing too rough, she walks away! She is great with other dogs, my grand kids and strangers, men and women. She loves going to the dog park, is great walking on leash around the neighborhood, and riding in the car. She is a very social dog but I have left her home alone for up to six hours with no problems. (Have I mentioned that she is very smart?) Recently, Frankie started barking at other dogs when both are on leashes; I believe this behavior has more to do with wanting to play than feeling aggressive. Same two dogs off leash and free to play and sniff butts and everything is fine. With a bigger & more active household and more freedom to run and play, this frustration on her leash would fade away. She would love a canine housemate.

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog J:4Meet Diamond, a 2-year-old, 37-pound black lab mix who is ready to sparkle! With her adorable wiggly tail and a heart full of love, Diamond is a total cuddle bug who will quickly become your best friend. She’s a sweet, affectionate girl who loves to be close to her humans, always eager to climb into your lap and shower you with affection. Whether she’s curling up for bedtime (she’d love to snuggle in bed with you!) or settling down in her crate, Diamond was a well-behaved girl in her short-term foster home. She was also potty-trained! She does need continued obedience training and will need to be monitored if there is food on counters (she’s a bit of a sneaky one when it comes to snacks!), Diamond’s affectionate nature and willingness to please make her an ideal companion for a dedicated adopter. While Diamond loves people and is a champion at giving cuddles, she does best in a calm, solo-animal household. A home without young children or cats is ideal. She would be best as the only dog in a home where she can be the center of attention she so deserves! Diamond is highly food-motivated, eager to learn, and enjoys walks—she’s great on a leash and listens well. She’ll alert you to any passing dogs with a bark, but she’s easily redirected and stays calm during walks. She’s also content being left home alone in her crate for a few hours at a time. If you’re looking for a playful, loving, and loyal dog who will be your best friend and cuddle buddy, Diamond is ready to make your house her home!January 26, 2025, 10:47 pm

Story
Meet Sorry, an adorable 12-week-old pup from the "Board Game" litter! This little guy is full of energy and always ready to join the fun. Whether it’s playtime or a party, Sorry is right there, bringing his cheerful and enthusiastic spirit wherever he goes. Though he’s got a lot of pep in his step, he can be a bit mouthy at times, which means he’s still learning the ropes of how to be a well-mannered pup. Sorry would thrive in an active home with a resident dog who can show him the ropes, curb his mouthy habits, and help him build the confidence he needs to flourish. If you’re looking for a fun, playful companion who will bring lots of joy and energy to your life, Sorry might be the perfect match! He loves to play fetch, has done wonderful with crate training, he sleeps through thel night, and is house broken! ##2272776##

Story
Lab Mix Male, neutered 35 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Levi was picked up as a stray in Stockton, CA. One of his front legs had an elbow fracture that wasn’t attended to. The tendons were seized up in the fracture, so he couldn’t move his other joint either. The vets think he was probably hit by a car about a month before going to the animal shelter. He wasn’t well cared for before arriving at the shelter, but he was still the sweetest dog - loving everybody. Because of his bad leg, he needed a rescue group to take him in, so the shelter called us. Once he had his leg amputated, he became a whole new dog - loving the freedom of not having to lug around that useless limb. Unfortunately, he has osteoarthritis in his hips. The surgeon thinks his previous injury damaged the blood supply to his hips. He needs to stay thin and active with low impact exercise. Luckily, he loves to get daily exercise! Watching him run around, you wouldn’t guess that he has hip issues. He will be need to on lifelong arthritis treatment. He currently gets monthly injections of Librela and Adequan and a daily joint supplement. No surgery is recommended on his hips at this time. Levi loves going for walks and going jogging. He is leash reactive when other dogs are close, but when they are across the street, he doesn't react and has learned "look" to get a treat and focus on his foster mom. He currently wears a muzzle while out for walks for when a close encounter is unavoidable and he does well with it on. Levi lived with a large dog in his foster home for eight months and was great with him. He would do well being the only pet or living with the right dog with slow introductions. Levi entertains himself with chew toys and stuffed Kongs when he's home alone and does well by himself. Fetch is Levi's favorite game in the backyard and the house and he is good about bringing it back and dropping it. At home care is easy with Levi, as he allows ear cleaning, nail clipping, brushing, teeth brushing, monthly injections and getting a bath with no problems. He loves to cuddle up next to people on the couch and in bed. He has met a lot of strangers of all ages and does very well with everyone. Bikes, skateboards, canes, hats, etc. don't bother him. Levi is potty trained using a dog door. Levi has shown some prey drive tendencies in the backyard, so he probably wouldn't do well in a home with cats. He also shows some barrier reactivity with the neighbor's dog, and is still working on that behavior. If you are looking for a super sweet, smart, resilient dog and are up for continuing his training and arthritis meds, Levi might be the dog for you. He is also a great watch dog. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. For more information about Levi, contact: nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com

Zuma is a loving and sweet girl! She is good with people, gentle with children, and does well with other dogs. She is doing well in her foster home and ready for her forever home. Zuma started some leash training and is learning at a good pace. She is crate-trained and doing well on her housetraining. She rides well in the car and can wait patiently while her foster mom runs errands. Zuma is a wonderful dog and will make a good family dog. Zuma’s Rescue Story Zuma was rescued from a government shelter before her time was up. Shelters across the island were completely full and every week, there is a list of dogs that will be thrown back to the streets to live as homeless dogs. A kind volunteer reached out to an experienced international rescue organization to help save them. The founder of the rescue organization has over 180 dogs waiting for homes. However, she could not bear to see them going back to the streets to suffer. She agreed to take them home and give them a chance in life. Zuma had a thorough medical checkup. She had been spayed, vaccinated, microchip, and passed negative on her blood tests. Please give Zuma a loving home where she will never be left behind again.
