Story
Looks like: Labrador Retriever mix Female, 8 years old (estimated), 69 pounds Magnificent Mihla is a sweetheart with lots of love to give! She has these mesmerizing eyes full of wonder and adorable floppy ears that really make her stand out. Miss Mihla enjoys spending her time going for car rides or long walks, playing surgeon with squeaky toys, alerting her fosters about squirrels and birds that dare to cross her path, and attending training regularly to work on building up her leash manners. This lovely lady would be ideal for a home where she can be the star and not have to share your attention but she may also fit right in with a household that has a mellow dog who doesn't mind sharing the spotlight. Due to how excited we have seen her get around prey animals we suspect she may not be ideal for a household with cats. We have not seen how she is with children. The SPCA of Monterey County reached out to us for help because Mihla was becoming increasingly stressed in the shelter environment. She was a favorite among many volunteers who worked with her there, so how could we resist?

Story
Meet Gator! Gator is a mellow black Labrador looking for a forever home and a front-row seat to literally everything you do - he does have a serious case of "FOMO", and we mean serious. He is also what experts call “low energy with high curiosity.” He loves relaxing, lounging, and supervising… but if you stand up, open a door, start getting ready to leave the house, or look like you might do something interesting without him, he will absolutely need to come investigate. Gator's hobbies include: 🛋 Professional couch warming and snuggling (nuzzling up against his favorite human's neck is a must) 👀 Quietly following you from room to room like a very polite security guard 🍿 Watching you cook in case something falls (for safety reasons, of course) About Gator's FOMO: He doesn't need to do everything… he just prefers to be present. Bathroom trip? He'll attend. Laundry time? He'll supervise. Opening the fridge? That’s a team activity. He does have significant separation anxiety, so a high impact kennel and continued training is going to be an absolute requirement for your sake and his! Gator is one of the calmest and sweetest labs we have ever met, and he is loyal to the point of mild shadowing (ok, maybe stalking). He loves being pet so much that when you do stop petting him, don't be surprised by the not-so-gentle reminder that he is still there and available for more pets. Belly rubs are among his favorite things. Gator is a rare lab who has so far shown himself to not be extremely food-motivated, but is very much affection motivated. Although turned into Hitchcock Road Animal Services as a stray, we can tell that this gentle giant has experienced life in a home before coming to AFRP. In his foster home, he has gotten along well with other large male dogs. While not exposed to face-to-face with cats, he has seen cats in their condos and has only had a reaction of mild curiosity. He has been a perfect houseguest and has not done any "marking", but we would encourage his adopter to use belly bands initially for training purposes. On walks, he does tend to pull (but not too aggressively) and he would benefit from loose leash training and general obedience training. He is not leash aggressive and displays mild curiosity when he sees other dogs on leash. Gator would love to find a home with adult adopters, or with families who have children over the age of six at this time, mostly due to his size. He would do well as an only dog, but he would most likely do well with a compatible canine companion after proper introductions. Adopt Gator and you’ll never have to walk alone again. Ever. 🐕🖤

Story
Rhyno-18 month old black lab blend. Neutered- Hi! My name is Rhyno! I’m an 80 lb. neutered lab mix boy that’s 18 months old, full of puppy energy, and up-to-date on all my vaccines and preventatives. My biggest goal in life is to please my person, so I learn quick. I’m house and crate trained, and walk well on a leash. I live to give kisses and to receive belly rubs! In short, I’m a big lovebug! In Texas, I was picked up as a stray with a broken jaw. The shelter tried to stabilize it but was unsuccessful. After a couple of months in the shelter, my jaw healed on its own, albeit a bit crooked. My foster mom says it gives my face character. I enjoy other dogs, but a home with small children probably wouldn’t be a good fit for me as I don’t realize how big I am. Will you give me a forever home to love and be loved in? I promise you won’t regret it! ##1419259##
