Story
Maple is just as sweet as her name makes her sound! She loves playing ball and running around with her toys. She came to us from the local shelter where she was found wandering the streets of Hollister. Maple is a giant sweetheart and she loves all people and kids. The only thing about Miss Maple is that she is dog selective, she likes certain dogs and really can't stand others. Right now she likes all the dogs we have but when she was at the shelter she wasn't a huge fan of the ones that were around her. Maple would love to be the only dog in the family and lounge and play ball with you forever!

Story
Puppy is the little brother of Honey, he’s petite in comparison, a great jumper, and far more active. He’s smart, attentive, and likes to trick you into thinking he’s going in one direction when he heads for another. He likes to greet with a leap and a bark. He’s whiny and attention-seeking, hence the name. Both dogs know Cantonese and English, but Puppy understands “sit”. He is easy to handle cause he doesn’t pull as much and cares about your feelings. Puppy is raised on a farm and is in good health. He’s easy to care for, as long as you don’t mind him chest-bumping you and sweeping your floor with his wagging tail. Both dogs are being neglected and not receiving the love they deserve. They are victims of owners who do not believe in illness or treatments. I am the only one who takes symptoms seriously. But I will be going to college and cannot bear leaving them behind. Please save them and give them a new home.

Story
Meet Georgie, a charming guy with a playful and goofy nature. He's a gentle soul, shy at first, but once he warms up to you, his endearing antics will melt your heart. Georgie is still learning the ropes when it comes to playing with other dogs, but he's making great strides every day. He thrives in familiar environments, making him the perfect companion for those seeking a calm, comforting presence at home. His preference for familiar environments doesn't make him a globetrotter, but it does mean he'll be your loyal friend in his cherished surroundings. Adopt Georgie and discover the joy of a companion who will fill your home with playful goofiness and gentle love. I am eligible for Foster to Adopt! Please speak to a SPCA staff member for more information.Georgie is currently available by appointment. Please call 831-264-5422 to learn more about him and schedule an appointment to meet her! Story
Looks like: Labrador Retriever mix Female, 7 years old (estimated), 56 pounds Magnificent Mihla is a sweetheart with lots of love to give! She has these mesmerizing eyes full of wonder and adorable floppy ears that really make her stand out. Miss Mihla enjoys spending her time going for car rides or long walks, playing surgeon with squeaky toys, alerting her fosters about squirrels and birds that dare to cross her path, and attending training regularly to work on building up her leash manners. This lovely lady would be ideal for a home where she can be the star and not have to share your attention but she may also fit right in with a household that has a mellow dog who doesn't mind sharing the spotlight. Due to how excited we have seen her get around prey animals we suspect she may not be ideal for a household with cats. We have not seen how she is with children. The SPCA of Monterey County reached out to us for help because Mihla was becoming increasingly stressed in the shelter environment. She was a favorite among many volunteers who worked with her there, so how could we resist?

Story
Looks like: Hound mix Male, 7 years old (estimated), 52 pounds Sweet sweet Rover has been through a lot over the last couple months. In September, he landed at a local shelter, where it was surmised he had been hit by a car. Rover was unable to stand or use his legs. Fortunately nothing was broken! Fast forward to today, Rover is a bouncing, running, highly spirited buddy. He is living in a foster home and making leaps and bounds in progress. Quite literally! The only remaining sign of his accident is a stiff back leg at times, but he is never one to miss a walk and loves the beach! Rover is a youthful 7-year-old, comes with all the adult training he needs, and is great with children. (He was a huge hit on Halloween, welcoming all the kids and handing out treats.) He makes the best four-legged friend, and will stick by your side whether it's for a stroll around the neighborhood or a snuggly night in. He will keep you entertained with his happy-go-lucky nature, smiles, and morning zoomies around the kitchen while he waits for breakfast. He is also a tennis ball fanatic. Rover will need an adopter willing to continue to work on his mobility with him, including regular exercise (tennis ball tossing) and rest when needed. This darling boy adores people and love. He is a true gentleman who likes to gaze lovingly at his people with those big, soulful eyes. Rover joined Peace of Mind after he was brought into Hitchcock Road Animal Services. We can't wait to see the progress he makes in his forever home!

Story
Meet Rolo!-8 year old neutered male chocolate lab-Surrendered to the Shelter after his previous guardians were unable to continue caring for himRolo did not love kennel life so he is hanging in a foster home. His foster fam gave us the following update: `Rolo is 8 years young. If you like that big Lab energy, with the big Heart that comes with it, he is your guy. He’s potty trained, knows how to sit and sort of stay and he is excellent at ‘shake’. We are working on crate training. He will protest for a few minutes when he first goes in and then will settle and nap. He LOVES fetch and hikes. He needs work on the leash, he likes to twirl and pull but just thinks it’s better than Disney Land. He’s in a foster home with a female Lab and a few cats and is minding his manners. He can come in a little hot when he meets other dogs but takes corrections/queues well and with proper guidance and introduction should do fine. He is the sweetest, most fun loving, handsome boy. He was stressed in the shelter and didn’t show well but now that he’s in a home, he is blossoming.`Now through December 17th, BISSELL Pet Foundations is sponsoring reduced adoption fees and we are participating! Adoption fees for all cats and dogs are reduced to $50. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
