Story
Hello! My name is Silky Nutmeg and I'm a 1 year old lab mix. I had a rough start here at the shelter and I'm still learning that people are friends. I'm a very shy girl, but with time I'm a really sweet and playful dog. I love other dogs, they help me come out of my shell around people. Treats are a great way to get on my good side. I could really use someone to help teach me how to be a great dog.  Interested in adopting? Visit our shelter during open hours and ask about Silky Nutmeg A056828January 7, 2025, 1:25 pm

My Adoption Fee is Waived!I`m an affectionate guy and called the `Snuggle King` for my love of giving kisses and affection. I`m active, super smart & have tons of personality... I know, sit, down, wait, watch me & am housebroken. I`m a busy boy always looking for my next adventure. Swimming, fetching & lizard hunting are three of my favorite activities.I do quite well walking with the EasyWalk Harness. I would do best in an adult home. I do sometimes `borrow` household and clothing items to play with... and I`m perfectly happy in my crate with a safe long-lasting chew if you`re busy and can`t watch me.I have participated in shelter playgroups with males and females and have shared my kennel with several dogs in the past. I`m a little too rambunctious for some of the boring dogs, though. If you have a dog who needs a friend, bring it to the shelter for a meet and greet. Come by and meet him soon, and for now, you can check him out in shelter playgroups videos below:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!

My Adoption Fee is Waived!Dogs: YesKids: Older kids are okCats: No Crate Trained: YesLeash Trained: Yes on a head harnessHousetrained: Working on itMeet Lionel, your future soul mate. He’s a lovable dork whose silly personality and heart-throb looks win over everyone he meets. Lionel is a lovely work in progress, but aren`t we all? He’s a medium energy guy that would love to join you on your daytime adventures and then crash on the couch with you for a Netflix marathon once he’s had some good exercise.Lionel is new to household living, but he’s learning fast. He’s still a bit like a mischievous puppy in that he’ll carry around your shoes and nibble your fingers.  Oh and he’s a tall guy so that kitchen counter is just at nose height! Right now supervision and managing him like a puppy in the house helps him make all the right choices. He really wants to make you happy and learn, so he will quickly earn more freedom and house privileges. When he gets in trouble his signature move is to flop on his back and convince you he’s totally innocent.Lionel currently lives with 4 other large dogs in his foster home.He gets along well with everyone, although not everyone appreciates his dorky clumsy play style.  No kitties for Lionel, they are too fun to chase.  His current foster home has older kids and he does well with them.  Check him out in this video with his favorite kid friend!Lionel is smart and knows the basics like sit, down, and wait, with a side of `4 on the floor` etiquette in progress. He`s a joy to walk with a gentle leader, calmly taking in the world. He sleeps through the night in a crate. He loves chew toys and bones and will even play fetch. So, if you`re looking for an epic true love who’s all heart and silliness, Lionel might just be the companion you`ve been searching for.

Story
Hi there! My name is Brutus!I ’ve been having some amazing adventures lately. Here’s what my friends have to say about me:Doggie Day Out - 1/18:Today, my girlfriend and I took Brutus around town for a Doggie Day Out! He was so sweet and happy all day, and his tail never stopped wagging!Despite being a stone’s throw from an ‘athletic’ physique, he surprised us by being a driven walker, putting in well over two miles on the day. We took him to Southside Park, McKinley Park, Pushkin’s Bakery, and a ‘Sniff Spot’ we found in West Sac. He doesn’t seem to have a reactive bone in his gigantic body, and he seldom barked. When he saw other dogs and people, he was very friendly and wagged his tail. His leash skills are pretty good, but he does put his weight into his desired direction, which is not always the direction desired by you. He is also very curious and loves to explore and sniff everything!Brutus is both toy and food motivated, but keep in mind when choosing toys that he is a super chewer! He was great in the car, apart from the fact he seemed a little anxious due to some panting. Overall, Brutus is a big, goofy, cuddly dude, and he will be a spectacular addition to any family willing to spend a bit of time training and loving him!Doggie Day Out - 1/22:Easy as a Sunday morning. This big guy is so chill and sweet. Don’t let his size fool you—he listens very well, comes when called, and stays close. He seems a little anxious in the car, with some panting, but he got in and out of the car on his own (even though I helped a bit). As a small female (115 lbs), I felt in control the whole time because he never tugged on the leash. He’s the perfect companion for a mix of exploring and sniffing around, followed by a good, long nap.We started our day by cruising Home Depot, where he made lots of friends (even in the garden center). Next, we stopped at PetSmart for some more exploring and socializing. Afterward, we hung out at Starbucks, people-watching, where he was calm and well-behaved, even with people walking by.Our final stop was the park, where there was a lot of action—cop cars, fire trucks, and even an officer who walked up to us to ask a question and meet Brutus. Brutus didn’t react at all and was as calm as ever. He spent time sniffing around and then relaxed in the grass, surrounded by people, children, and squirrels. He would look at them but didn’t react.Brutus truly is an amazing dog who would make a wonderful companion. He deserv

Story
I got her in May 2024 from my son as a temporary situation due to housing, but it has turned into longterm, so we decided to rehome her. She is chipped in my name and I got her shots. She is around 1-1/2 years old. I have mobility issues so it is hard to take her for a walk. I just cannot take care of her. She loves being outside, so having a fenced in backyard is a must. She is friendly with everyone. She jumps up on everyone, so she needs some training that is why I do not know how she would do with small children. She loves playing with her ball and cuddling up to you at night. I fell in love with her, so I need her to go to someone who has time for her and can add her to their family. I have not had her around other dogs and cats so I do not know how she would do. I just got her fixed through the SPCA. She has a tendency to play rough and I cannot handle that as it is hard on my body.
