Story
*Courtesy Post* Due to some radical life changes from her owners, 4 year old lab min "Lola" is looking for another home Lola can be shy at first but quick to warm up once you gain her trust (this is true with both humans and other dogs) Lola can be excited on leash at times, and vocal when she wants something or if the crows are teasing her in the back yard. She would do best with someone who works from home or can take her with them when they leave for lengthy periods. She isn't destructive but just lonely, and let's the world around her know. She loves cuddles on the couch and is an affectionate dog full of personality. A fenced backyard where she can run around or someone with an active lifestyle is important as she loves her exercise. Spayed and up to date on all shots. Not a good fit for a house with cats.

Story
Meet Gus, a friendly and energetic dog who is looking for a loving home where he can feel safe and comfortable. Gus can be a bit nervous when meeting new people, so he'll need slow, gentle introductions to help him build trust. Once he feels at ease, his loving and loyal nature shines through, and you'll quickly see what an amazing companion he can be. He can also be a bit anxious in new situations and will thrive with slow introductions to new places.Gus is still learning about leash manners, and while he's making great progress with his harness training with a few gentle reminders. Gus loves to put things in his mouth and tends to eat things that he shouldn't and needs to learn this isn't a good idea. We've started working on muzzle training with him to help him make better decisions about what to eat when out on walks or playing in the yard.Gus would do best in a home with a fenced yard where he can run and explore safely and brush up on some of the skills he hasn't had a chance to learn yet.Gus is a sweet, intelligent dog with so much potential to thrive in the right environment that has the time and consistency to put into him. If you're looking for a dog who will grow into an incredible companion with some patience and love, Gus could be the perfect fit for you! Story
Meet Loki! This active guy would love to find a home that has lots of time for exercise and adventures. Loki is used to exploring and running around most of the day. He was not often walked on a leash and is learning leash manners here in the branch that his new guardian will need to continue working on. He would prefer a home with a nice big yard space or fenced property to have free reign of.Loki LOVES to run and play in the yard, and is particularly fond of soccer balls. We would love to see Loki enjoy a new home with an adopter who has some time to work with him on his separation anxiety. He came into shelter with another dog, and will have a hard time being apart from him. Loki can be nervous of new people and dogs, and will need slow introductions to get him acquainted with someone. He can be very hyper and chatty, so an apartment style living wouldn't be ideal for him.If you are an adventure aficionado interested in meeting Loki, you can come into the West Vancouver Branch Tuesday to Sunday between 12pm and 3pm to chat with the staff and meet Loki! Story
Meet Kylo Kylo is a sweet and lovable Lab mix who came into the shelter when his owners could no longer care for him and his friend, Loki. He takes a bit of warming up with new people, but a few treats make for fast friendship.Kylo loves to go for walks and play with toys in the yard. He is a bit on the rounder side and is looking for a companion who will take him for daily walks and help him get to a healthier body condition. He is not a picky eater and is being a good sport about being on a bit of a diet.He has been walking well on leash, though is a strong puller! He even knows a few basic commands (sit, laydown etc.). City life is proving a bit overwhelming for him, so we are looking for an experienced adopter who can work with him on desensitization and do slow introductions with new people. We feel they would be best suited to a home without children, in a house with a yard access. Bonus if it's located in a quiet, more rural environment. If you are interested, fill out an application online or meet them in person. Adoption hours are Tuesday - Sunday, 12-3 (closed on Mondays). Primary Color: Black Weight: 60.5 Age: 4yrs 0mths 2wks

Story
Young Rudy, born Feb 2024 was found one morning as a very young puppy buried in dirt near the shelter. He was taken into the SPCA PV sanctuary, and they learned that he was buried to soothe burns on his back where his hair is now discoloured. He currently weighs approximately 40 lbs, we think he’ll grow to be about 50 lbs. He was lucky that one of our sweet mamma pups Keisha took him under her wing to give him the love he should still get as a young pup. He’s a playful boy that would love a yard and adventures, and maybe even a welcoming dog friend. He has been good with cats (though exposure is limited). Rudy is healthy and ready to fly. He is currently at the SPCA PV sanctuary in Mexico, and will be able to fly to Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton (possibly also Vancouver island). If you think you might be the lucky home for him, write us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com and tell us a little about yourself, or go direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw

Story
Tangyi is a calm and gentle soul who gets along wonderfully in group settings with other dogs. Even when other dogs act provocatively, Tangyi avoids conflict and displays submissive behavior, showcasing her mild and peaceful temperament. While she may initially feel timid around strangers who approach her suddenly, she quickly warms up and reveals her affectionate and well-mannered nature once she gets to know them. Tangyi’s slightly reserved personality is balanced by her strong attachment to her owner. This bond can sometimes lead to signs of separation anxiety, so she would thrive in a home where her family can provide her with the love and attention she needs. She shows no particular interest in cats and does not chase them, making her a great fit for households with feline friends. On walks, Tangyi has excellent leash manners and enjoys exploring the world at a relaxed pace. She is also comfortable riding in vehicles, which makes traveling with her a breeze. Given her shy nature, Tangyi will need some time and patience to adjust to a new home and family. During this period, allowing her to settle in and feel secure will help her blossom into the perfect companion. Although Tangyi is currently doing well with walks in her foster home, she may feel startled in unfamiliar environments. For her safety, we recommend using a double leash during walks until she feels more confident. Tangyi is likely to adapt well to a multi-dog household. In fact, having a dog sibling could help ease her separation anxiety. Her calm and well-mannered personality makes her an ideal addition to a harmonious family with other pets. Tangyi is ready to bring love and serenity to a new home. We’re so excited to see her thrive in her forever family! Story
Meet Cooper! Cooper is a 7 year old German Short Haired Pointer. He's medium large in size, and is just the sweetest old boy you could ever imagine.Cooper was surrendered to the Kamloops Branch through no fault of his own. He was then transferred all the way to the Sunshine Coast Branch, where he currently is, through the drive-for-lives program. He can be a little bit shy at first, but he warms up to people quickly.Cooper may be a little older, but he has lots of energy still, and is a strong dog. He has been known to enjoy chasing cats, and though we haven't seen this behaviour, it is worth noting that reactivity to other dogs is mentioned in his file. Due to these points, Cooper is best suited to be the only pet in the home. This intelligent, sweet boy has so much love to give. He is a world class snuggler, and would love nothing more than to relax beside you at home on a rainy day. Cooper gets excited when he makes new friends or recognizes an old friend, and will do the most adorable tippy tap dance to signal his happiness! He's the cutest.** Cooper had a dental surgery on Nov 29th, and is awaiting a recheck on Dec 13th, so he is not quite ready for adoption yet. He is available for Foster-To-Adopt until he gets his medical clearance post-surgery! **If you feel you could offer Cooper a peaceful, loving retirement, please follow the steps below to apply for adopt.
