Story
Meet Leo!Leo can be initially reserved but warms up quickly to his human friends. He is a playful pup who loves gentle scratches and is learning to embrace the great outdoors! Once he's outside, he enjoys zooming around and loves playing with and chewing his toys. Leo is looking for a patient family that can help him gain confidence with exploring places aside from his home. Since he is a bit unsure of the leash, he will need some training to help him learn that walking on a leash is a fun activity.Leo would thrive as the only dog in the home but has shown he gets along with other dogs given a proper introduction. Leo would do best in a home with older or dog-savvy children who understand his need for time to warm up and build confidence. If you're seeking a sweet companion who's ready to bring joy to your life, Leo might be the perfect match! 🦁Do you think you could be Leo's person? Here are some ways to find out:1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Wednesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or2.) Submit an online application at adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions, an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hours. Story
Meet Enzo! This sweet and energetic guy is excited to meet new people and is always ready for a fun adventure. Enzo is eager to learn and would thrive with a patient and understanding guardian who can help him with his good manners. He's very playful and food-motivated, making training a great bonding opportunity. While Enzo has had canine friends before, he can become overstimulated and struggles with communication around other dogs. A home where he can be the only pet would be best. Enzo also needs training to manage his resource guarding behaviour around food with other dogs. If you have questions about this topic, please reach out to the staff to discuss! This charming boy loves being active and would make the perfect hiking buddy, though he does need some work on leash manners since he tends to pull when excited. ⛰️🌲🐾👣If you're looking for an affectionate, playful dog who's ready to learn and explore the world with you, Enzo might just be the perfect match!Do you think you could be Enzo's person? Story
Meet Molly, a super sweet and snuggly girl who absolutely loves to be pampered and spend quality time with her humans! This affectionate pup is all about companionship and is sure to bring warmth and joy to your home.Molly walks well on a leash, making her a great candidate for daily strolls in the neighborhood. However, it's important to note that Molly is a bit of an escape artist and has been known to climb fences, so a secure yard or leash walks are essential to keep her safe and sound. While she tends to be reactive towards other dogs, with proper introductions and management, she can learn to navigate her interactions more comfortably. Molly also appears to have some food sensitivities but is thriving on a lamb-based diet.If you're looking for a loving companion who will be your loyal snuggle buddy, Molly might be the perfect fit for you. Come meet her today and see how this sweet girl can become a cherished member of your family! Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. Story
Young Rudy, born Feb 2024 was found one morning as a very young puppy buried in dirt near the shelter. He was taken into the SPCA PV sanctuary, and they learned that he was buried to soothe burns on his back where his hair is now discoloured. He currently weighs 22 lbs, we think he’ll grow to be about 45-50 lbs. He was lucky that one of our sweet mamma pups Keisha took him under her wing to give him the love he should still get as a young pup. He’s a playful boy that would love a yard and adventures, and maybe even a welcoming dog friend. He has been good with cats (though exposure is limited). Rudy is healthy and ready to fly. He is currently at the SPCA PV sanctuary in Mexico, and will be able to fly to Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton (possibly also Vancouver island) or Seattle in fall when flights resume. If you think you might be the lucky home for him, write us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com and tell us a little about yourself, or go direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw
