Story
We adopted Rocco in January of 2024. He is sweet and loving, has a ton of energy, and unfortunately is unpredictable to us in the way he responds to discipline. He can become hyper-focused. When attempts are made to redirect, he sometimes responds aggressively. He has bitten my wife on several occasions. He does not respond to me in this manner. However, because of this unpredictable nature, we are not able to keep Rocco as we have a grandchild who is less than a year old and we cannot trust Rocco to be around him. I would love for Rocco to have a home with an owner who is able to train him properly and is able to give him the proper amount of exercise and discipline that he needs in order to live a happy life. Our lifestyle is not one that allows for us to manage his high degree of energy, nor are we able to predict his reactions. For this reason, I am seeking to rehome Rocco as soon as possible.

Story
PARVO MOMMA UPDATE!! Sweet Momma LilyBeth and her 4 puppies were pulled from a local shelter after 2 puppies had passed away. We were told this family had a severe case of worms but sadly once they arrived at our vet we realized it was much worse. Not only were they loaded with parasites but all 5 tested positive for the deadly parvo virus and were seriously ill. All 5 had to be hospitalized for the next week in ICU at the awesome Parkway Animal Hospital. After a week of around the clock care it’s finally safe to say they have BEAT PARVO! Momma LilyBeth appears to be a yellow lab mix around 3 years old. She came to us severely emaciated and has filled out nicely. Shes finally at healthy weight which is around 40-45 lbs. This girl was absolutely terrified at the shelter but she has warmed up so much in her foster mom. She still will coward down at first but she quickly comes around. She absolutely adores her foster mom and is much more comfortable around females than males. She doesn’t mind other dogs as long as they are not dominate to her. She is not a fan of cats. She doesn’t mind a crate and is super loving once she gets to know you. She’s very excitable. She loves kids but she doesn’t understand her size. She walks on a leash and loves to play. She will require a little extra patience but she is totally worth it. She is Utd, hw tested and will be spayed on 4/21 and then will be ready for her perfect forever home. We are taking apps on this sweet girl now. All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. We also have full-time jobs and Families. We will try to answer all questions and applications in a timely manner. Please be patient and bear with us . Do not contact Parkway Animal Hospital as they are a vet clinic and can not answer questions on behalf of Wags and Whiskers. All questions and comments must go directly through the rescue. Story
UPDATE! This handsome boy is Alvin. He was found with his 8 siblings as a small puppy dumped on a dirt road. This litter was so sick we never thought they would survive the awful parasites they had. Thankfully, they did and all have found amazing homes but our sweet Alvin. He’s now around 1 year old and 40ish lbs. He’s a total sweetheart and there is no reason he should still be in foster care. He’s great with dogs of all sizes, cats and children. He’s a smart boy and willing to please. Playful but not crazy. He loves the outdoors and he loves his people. Alvin is fully vetted and ready for a home of his own.   Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!    Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up.   Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. We also have full-time jobs and Families. We will try to answer all questions and applications in a timely manner. Please be patient and bear with us .
