Story
In very Lab fashion, Russ intends to be a puppy for many years to come. He deserves it, after a rough start in life. Now, he has developed many loves - loves people, loves treats, loves learning, loves squeaky toys! This youngster is learning his manners (he's a quick study) and looking forward to a fun family to continue his new, happy life! With other dogs, he is the geek who thinks he's cool - so he needs an easy-going dog who doesn't mind having a weird friend. He is not compatible with cats or small pets.   ***Our pups don't tell us who their parents are - BREED is a GUESS*** ~  Est DOB:  Dec 2020 ~  Est weight:  55#  ~  Adoption details:  calhouncountyhs.blogspot.com/p/adopt.htmlNovember 1, 2024, 11:11 pm

Story
It's okay to talk about *this* Bruno! All he sees in the future is good times with a great family. Bruno is as lab as they get! Be it a sprinkler, a pool, or a lake, Bruno is prepare to dive in. Got a ball launcher? He'll wear himself out without you getting up from your lawn chair. High energy? Yes, but high smarts too as he knows his basic commands and appears to be housetrained. Bruno came in stray, so we don't know the history on his damaged eye but the only change it has made in this Lab's Lab is that he distrusts other animals. He needs to be your only pet, but he'll be all the pet you need!   ***Our pups don't tell us who their parents are - BREED is a GUESS*** ~  Est DOB:  Jan 2019 ~  Intake weight:  56#  ~  Adoption details/application:  calhouncountyhs.blogspot.com/p/adopt.htmlJanuary 24, 2025, 8:44 pm

Soulful Andy is that steady companion you've been looking for! Good on leash and gentle of heart, he makes it easy to want to spend your time hanging out with him. He is a fan of treats and pats, but he is not a fan of cats - he finds them positively terrifying! Before you think he's all couch potato, he does loosen up and show a playful side with his human friends. At this time, he is not interested in doggie friends. ***Our pups don't tell us who their parents are - BREED is a GUESS*** ~  Est DOB: Jul 2021  ~  Est weight:  54#  ~  Adoption details/application:  calhouncountyhs.blogspot.com/p/adopt.htmlNovember 1, 2024, 11:11 pm

Story
Donatello - better known as Donny - loves his soft little squeaky toys and hanging out with puppy pals in the yard. A cute kid with big puppy-dog eyes, he is loyal to his friends, and becomes friends in the usual way - treats! The way to a dog's heart truly is his stomach. He has learned leash manners and sit, and likes to show off his smile (don't mind that it is 'toothy'!). New things and quick movements can spook him, but a dose of your confidence helps overcomes his suspicions. Shelter pups are pad trained and worked with on housetraining. Donny is used to a dog door.  Donny is diagnosed with hydrocephalus - talk to the shelter and your vet about his needs.  ***Our pups don't tell us who their parents are - BREED is a GUESS*** ~ Est DOB: July 2023~ Est weight: 50#~ Adoption details/application: calhouncountyhs.blogspot.com/p/adopt.htmlNovember 1, 2024, 11:11 pm

Story
Lucas got his wires crossed a little bit and seems to think he's a cat! A dog-loving cat, that is. He is great with others of all ages and would thrive with a confident dog to guide him in a home. He is a very quiet and calm boy with really nice manners and a love of treats. But, cat-like, he prefers to live in the background. He might follow you and observe your goings on...or not. He's not a cuddle bug and will move off under too much social pressure. So he is looking for a calm home full of respect for his true, somewhat feline, nature. ***Our pups don't tell us who their parents are - BREED is a GUESS*** ~  Est DOB:  May 2022 ~  Est weight: 48#~  Adoption details:  calhouncountyhs.blogspot.com/p/adopt.htmlJanuary 24, 2025, 8:44 pm

Story
Oscar is a Lab/ Rhodesian mix boy that is 3 year old! He loves life and came to the rescue with his siblings when they were young puppies. He was adopted but then life happened and Oscar came back to the rescue. He is a sweet boy and weighs about 60 lbs. This big boy did come back to the rescue with Osteomyelitis in his mandible or lower jaw, possibly from an injury. This is an infection of the bone which is treated with antibiotics. While the infection has been treated, this has left Oscar with a build up of excess bone on his lower jaw. This does not cause pain and also does not require medications  or further treatment. Oscar is doing well now and is a wonderful boy to work with. He is good with dogs, cats and kids, and is HOUSEBROKEN! He has been neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and is heartworm negative. His adoption fee is $250.January 4, 2025, 12:52 am
