Story
Name, age, breed: Dixie, 4 years old, Lab mixLikes: food, walks, being pet, sleeping in your bed, cuddles, scratchiest and overall attention. Dislikes: new people coming into home, loud noises, things being thrown in the air (yes if you throw something in the air, she will hit the deck)What would be the ideal home? A balance between quiet and active. Routine is a huge part of Dixie and helps with her anxiety.Good with other cats? Unknown Good with dogs? Somewhat - if properly introducedGood with children? Unknown (but she is very good with our gerbils)Temperament: shy, incredibly loving, pretty laid backMotivators? FOOD. Food food food. Will do anything for food.Any commands? Sit, stay, wait, lay down, up, paw, “go pee pee”, come here.House trained? Yes, never had even one accident in the house.Crate trained? No. We tried but she just couldn’t due to anxiety. How long will it take to settle into a new environment? 2-3 months - at least that’s how long it took for Dix to settle in here (foster home).Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? She’s a pretty shy girl around new people, new dogs, new environments. Trust me, once she comes out of her shell, she’s the sweetest dog with no bad bone in her body. She’s very polite and will only jump on the bed if invited up. She loves her dog bed, it’s her safe spot. She has never picked up a toy here. All sorts, but never. She will always make you wonder if you fed her because all she does is ask for food. Medical: Has allergies therefore on a hypoallergenic diet. Has chronic ear infections that will need to be cleaned & treated as neededIf you think Dixie is the girl for you - fill out an application today!
