Story
CALLIOPE is a mini Labradoodle we recently rescued from a puppy mill and she's a sweet girl who is quite shy but making progress and has been very slowly learning the ropes of leash walking and housetraining (but she still does require a fenced in yard). She's estimated a young adult and is just 13 lbs. She's now fully vetted. Calliope really benefits from another confident dog in the home and we'd love that for her forever home, too. She does have some separation anxiety and IS a barker when left alone, so ideally she'd match up with an adopter who is home a lot - and no apartments for her because of her very vocal unhappiness being left behind. Still, she'll be a great addition to someone's home. 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply ! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Story
Meet Iggy, who is currently at our rescue in Oklahoma and looking for a loving family in a state where animals are treated well. He must be prepaid and picked up at one of the listed transport cities. Iggy and 3 other pups came into our rescue when a "breeder" called and wanted to surrender the pups and would harm them if we didn't take them. They claimed all 4 were Labradoodles, but they all look drastically different. We have received his DNA results and he is 65% Lab/Poodle, 29% Great Pyrenees, and the rest is Golden Retriever, Australian Cattle Dog, German Shepherd, and Beagle. Male, approx. 6 months old (as of October 31) Currently 35 pounds (October 31) Loves all attention with people or other dogs Loves water Genetic testing says he has a gene for reduced shedding. Neutered, vaccinated (Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella), dewormed, will be microchipped On monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention Sleeps through the night in a crate Not yet housebroken or fully leash-trained Adoption fee: $900 (includes vetting and transport) Health certificate and exam completed within 10 days of transport Watch his video: https://youtube.com/shorts/BedJXY3v34k Apply to adopt Iggy: https://form.jotform.com/243134969050053 If you don’t hear back in 48 hours, please follow up at luckypawsdoghouse@gmail.com or call 580-257-0622.
