Story
Meet Sprocket!
Sprocket is a handsome and unique-looking Labradoodle who resembles a smaller Irish Wolfhound. This 1.5-year-old, 57-pound boy was found as a stray in Detroit and sadly was never reclaimed, but he is now safe and ready to find a family to call his own.
Sprocket is a quiet, more reserved dog who may take a little time to warm up to new people and environments. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet and loyal personality really begins to shine. He has a calm presence but still enjoys staying active and would do best with a family that can provide regular exercise and engagement.
In his foster home, Sprocket has done well with dogs his size and similar energy level, though he may be a bit much for smaller breed dogs. He has shown little interest in cats and could potentially live with dog-savvy cats with proper, slow introductions. Due to his size and demeanor, he would do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children.
Sprocket has a great foundation and has been working hard on his manners. He is crate trained, demonstrates a good understanding of house manners, knows basic commands, and rides well in the car. He is also quite intelligent and has learned how to open certain doors—especially sliding doors—which may explain how he ended up as a stray. Because of this, his future home will need to be mindful of keeping doors secure.
Sprocket would thrive in an active home with either a securely fenced yard or a committed daily walking routine. He is not a good candidate for an invisible fence or tether system. As a Labradoodle, he will require regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and comfortable.
Sprocket is a special dog with a gentle, thoughtful nature who is just waiting for the right family to help him fully come out of his shell. With patience, structure, and love, he will make a loyal and devoted companion.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.
While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.
