Story
Rowena is a 9-10 year old lab mix (we did a DNA test and it came back lab/chow/golden retriever/pointer and several others) - about 60 lbs. She is house/kennel trained, and definitely wants to learn how to dog! She was found in 2019 living in a wood pile in Oklahoma protecting her puppies, so has some trauma there that needs worked through and a dedicated adopter will do so much for her. She needs a very structured living environment and a strong dog-savvy owner. She loves to be outside so would enjoy a nice physically fenced yard (no invisible fencing with her history, sorry). Privacy fencing will be preferred as she guards her territory. She will not do well in an apartment setting since she has a fear of strangers and needs muzzled on walks in strange places. She has been through heartworm treatment and will require an adopter who will keep her on preventatives and regular testing. She does well with dogs as long as they aren't tiny/can't be mistaken for squirrels or rabbits. She chases cats. She is food protective with other dogs, so will need to be fed separate / in kennel as a precaution. Once she is comfortable with you, she likes to snuggle and give kisses and hugs -- but it may take a few weeks for her to warm up fully. No kids for Roe -- fast movements and small creatures with her don't mix. Her adoption fee is $250. If you have an easy-going and patient lifestyle that will give this girl the structure she needs and are interested in meeting Rowena, please put an application in at www.foreverhomedogs.org and we will set up a meet with you!All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older. But we feel these dogs deserve to live out the rest of their lives as part of a loving family.

Story
Sky is estimated to be about a 3 year old 40ish lb lab mix who was found as a stray in Texas with a bullet above her wrist in fall of 2024. Once the bullet was removed, she was sent to us where she was in a split for a couple weeks to try to help her leg heal, but ultimately the vets decided amputation was best. Sky is doing great after her surgery. We can’t believe how well she is getting along on three legs! She loves going for walks, car rides and being near her people. She is your typical lab, very playful and energetic at times (you would never know she was missing a limb) and then she crashes and likes to nap on blankets and the couch. She is kennel trained and has not had accidents in the house while kept on a consistent schedule. She has done well with other dogs of all sizes, and is learning to be around cats. She is very smart and trainable. We can tell she has once had an owner because she gets very excited when we get the leash out to go for walks. Sky does need a few minutes to warm up to humans, she’s timid at first but then she will love you. She would probably do best with older kids in the home as quick movements can sometimes make her nervous. She can be vocal so we are suggesting a place without shared walls - or someone who can handle some barking. She would benefit from basic training and she deserves the best home where people will show her love and attention she deserves. Sky's adoption fee is $250 - apply at www.foreverhomedogs.org to meet her!All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots.
