Story
Thomas is a nine-week-old, all-black Labrottie who, based on his appearance, might resemble more of a Rottweiler. One of twelve puppies found in an alley in Chicago on a cold November evening, Thomas has already shown his resilience as a survivor. Despite enduring the harsh cold with his siblings, Thomas remains a calm, cool, and collected pup. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and while he’s generally laid-back, he can be emotional at times and is quick to express himself with a little whine or even a bark or howl when he needs something. His foster mom affectionately calls him a "little lion," though Thomas is quick to remind her that he’s definitely a boy dog!
While he enjoys snuggling and being held, Thomas tends to get hot with his fluffy "Fabio" hair, so he prefers a cool floor or a thin mat or blanket to lie on. However, he’s never too far from his family, and he loves being around them, especially at their feet—sometimes even on top of them. He loves to be involved in whatever action is happening around him and isn’t the biggest fan of being alone, so he makes an ideal companion while cooking or cleaning.
Potty training has been going well, even in the cold snow, and Thomas absolutely loves it—especially eating the snow! He doesn’t mind his crate during meal times but is still working on staying in it for longer periods. Wearing his collar is no issue, but he’s still adjusting to leash training. While the leash feels a little strange, Thomas knows it will keep him safe as he gets older, though he may occasionally cry when it’s on.
Thomas is a slow eater, preferring to savor his meals, and he drinks plenty of water. Belly rubs and almond butter are among his favorite things, and he loves playing soccer with his favorite wiffle ball, especially with his sister, Choo-choo. Wrestling is another fun activity they enjoy together. Thomas is smart, playful, and full of affection. He loves giving kisses to both his dog and human family members.
Thomas would thrive in a forever home with another dog, where he can continue to enjoy companionship and playful moments. He’s eagerly awaiting the day he meets his forever family and can start his next adventure!
