Story
Do you love snuggles and cuddles?  Arlo, a 1-year-old labradoodle, came to us after a difficult experience in a home where he was attacked by both a protective mother dog and the male dog. He’s healing quickly and will soon be ready to find his forever home.   Arlo is as precious as he is handsome! His sweet personality makes him a favorite. We have had 100’s of dogs walk through our doors as a foster, but Arlo is a true favorite. I need him to find his forever home before my husband decides we should keep him.    We can't wait to see him thrive in a loving home where he can get all the care and attention he deserves.   Age?Arlo just turned 1! DOB: December 10, 2023   Favorite activity? Arlo loves to cuddle but love to play with toys.    Crate Trained? He absolutely hated the crate when he first got here, but he’s starting to settle in.    Potty-training- Arlo is house trained but did have an accident when he first arrived.  How does he do with kids? He’s an absolute love.    How does he do with other dogs? He gets along great with other dogs.  He does love to play.    How does he do with cats? He’s terrified of the cat!      Is he Hypoallergenic? Who knows! While we would love to say all doodles are hypoallergenic, nobody can really guarantee that.  It’s a mix between a dog who is considered “hypoallergenic” and a dog who isn’t. So, we have no idea which side wins on this one.     How big will he get? He’s full grown and weighs about 30lbs.    Training? He’s a smart boy so training should be fun with him.    He’s looking for a home that will love his snuggles as much as he loves giving them. A home that will give him lots of exercise and let him play with all the toys!   What's included in his adoption fee?  His adoption fee is $550 and includes each animal being current on age appropriate vaccinations including DHPPL, bordetella, influenza, and rabies. De-wormed for any internal parasites (round worms, hook worms, tape worms and whipworms), neutered and micro-chipped. Each of our dogs also receive flea and heartworm medication every month.   We look to place our dogs in homes where they are loved, allowed on furniture and treated like family so please do not apply if you are looking for an "outside dog" or if you have any dogs who live outside only. He’s a young guy so for the safety of all involved, we want you to consider this when applying to adopt. If you're looking for a dog who will keep you warm at night or snuggled by your side while watching TV, one who will enjoy playing in the yard, or one who’ll enjoy going and doing whatever the day finds, this may be the guy for you. Arlo’s wish list consists of an inside forever home. A home with lots of toys and pet parents who understand the time commitment that a new puppy requires. We’d like to see Arlo have a fenced in yard to be able to roam and play, but that’s not a deal breaker.    If you think you have the perfect home for Arlo and have questions, please contact us at HootiesHaven@yahoo.com We do out of state adoptions, but require you to come here and meet the pup if you are approved to adopt. Please feel free to ask for more details. We work hard to place our fosters in the very best homes. Please be aware that we have a lengthy application. Our application weeds out those who are not serious about adopting. When filling out the application, please be sure to include as much information and be as detailed as possible- your explanation could be what sets your application aside from the rest.    Please, if you are not serious about adoption, or if you are considering another dog, we respectfully ask you to please not proceed as our volunteers have other full time jobs and reading through applications and calling vet references is time consuming.   Please know, if you’re asked to come for a meet and greet, it’s just that- you are coming to meet the dog. We are the dogs advocate, so we are watching to see how the dog interacts with the family, and how the family interacts with the dog.  Our goal is to place all of our dogs in the home that’s best suited for them.    Link to Arlo’s Adoption Application:    https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/22197/generic   IMPORTANT MESSAGE  Our adoption interviews are being held strictly by invitation and appointment only. We are not be open for walkins. ##2272877##

Story
Java is a sweet well behaved old man whose caretakers for the last 12 years just recently passed away within a week of each other. I’m looking after him and going over to their empty house because I can’t bring him to my house due to cats and other circumstances. He would love a quiet happy home to live out his remaining years. He has lived with a medium fenced in yard and isn’t super familiar with leash walks but I’m working on it. He’s not high energy by any means. Mozy would be his speed. He also doesn’t bark. I will update the profile when I can take some more pics. He’s a sweet boy and is trained to not get on furniture or beds. He’s happy taking naps in the sun on the floor, no dog bed required.

Story
Star is a two-year-old, 30-pound lab mix that was picked up by the shelter. While she was seemingly in good shape with a shiny coat and good weight, her eyes were severely damaged, and she was terrified not to be able to see the barking dogs around her or know that she was safe from them. She stayed curled in a ball pressed against the chain link the whole time she was there. She dared not move from that spot because she didn't know what was around her. Once we got her to the vet, she did the same thing, curling up in a corner and not moving even to eat or go to the bathroom. Fortunately, We found a foster and got her into a quiet home. Unfortunately, as soon as she relaxed and trusted, it was time for her to go to the vet to be spayed. An exam of her eyes proved that she was blind, and her eyes were likely causing her great pain, so they were both removed. She is not comfortable with her blindness, and we are not sure what happened, but it is evident that she has not lived her life this way. Although scared, there is no aggression toward people or other dogs, and we think that another friendly dog to mentor her would be great. She spends her days on her bed, her safe space, and only moves to eat or potty, which she dutifully does on the "pee pads" in her room. Star has a challenging road ahead of her, but she is coming along well, and with some patience and time, she has so much potential to have a whole and happy life. If you want to nurture this girl along this new road, ALR will stand beside you and give you all the support needed.  If you want to adopt or foster to adopt Star, please click the "Adopt" button and submit an Adoption application. FROM THE FOSTER: Star has made good progress in her foster home adjusting to her new life of blindness.  She has the run of the house and easily navigates the 8 stairs off the back deck to go out to potty.  She gets along well with my two 10 yr old male large dogs.  Even though my Shepherd kept showing her the play bow and bringing her toys ( of course she couldn’t see) she has never shown any desire to play.  She is not intimidated by them and none of them have shown any aggression.  She also allows affection on her terms when she wants it but immediately comes running when she hears “treats” or the sound of a plastic bag being opened. Star takes treats softly and occasionally will lay beside you and allow petting.  She is not an overly affection or a cuddly dog. Star is crate trained but at night I gate her in the bedroom where all 3 sleep on their beds separately. (No accidents)  She did share her bed with her smaller dog friend, Sally who passed in June.  I think  having Sally gave her confidence in the beginning.  She can walk on leash but is very anxious about any new adventure. ##805877##

Story
Hot Dog is a five-year-old, 50-pound lab mix found tied to a pole, where he had been for a week before someone realized he had been abandoned. His big smile would never lead you to believe that his life had ever been anything but good, and we’ll make sure that this time around, it will be. Hot Dog was boarded with our rescue partner in south GA for several weeks and was around other dogs, but since he’s been in a foster home, he’s decided he’d like to be an only dog and get all the attention. He will be a great companion dog. He is calm, sweet, attentive, and excellent in the house, whether you are there or not. He loves her fenced-in yard and can exercise and entertain himself, so he doesn’t need walks. If you want to adopt or foster to adopt Hot Dog, please click the “Adopt” button and submit an Adoption application. ##1717498##
