Story
Maui is a beautiful, sweet, and silly 75lb Double Doodle (her wisdom panel shows 45% Labrador Retriever, 32% Golden Retriever, 22% Poodle, and 1% Flat-Coated Retriever). She came to SPAR facing life and death, having to undergo her second gastrointestinal surgery. She luckily pulled through the surgery and the weeks of recovery. She had previously had a foreign body removal 6 months prior as a puppy. Maui is looking for a special home. Having already used two (or more) of her spare lives, her body cannot afford another foreign body removal or gastrointestinal surgery. She cannot have access to any toys or anything left out she can chew on (blankets, dog beds, her leash, plastic dog bowls, etc). She sleeps in her kennel at night and is great around other dogs of all sizes. She is learning about cats in her current foster home and might be okay around dog-savvy cats. She would be okay in a home with older kids that understand the safety concerns of leaving things out where Maui can get into them. She has decent leash manners and enjoys going on walks. She is very smart and would love to take additional obedience classes to bond more with her new family. Maui also has already had an incisional gastropexy, so no future risks of GDV, or “bloat”. If you are interested in meeting Maui, please complete the adoption application. We go through a multi-step process for our dogs that includes meeting at the fosters home, a home inspection, and reference checks.

Story
Mr. Simba is a dapper 7 month old Labradoodle. He is still a young pup full of energy. He was in a home for several months where he was trained to bark at the door to go potty outside and sleep through the night, and he was taught commands such as "sit," "shake," "bed," and "lay down." So he already has a good foundation to be a wonderful house dog, or for any further training. He had to be rehomed due to his family moving, so they brought him here so he could find his new forever home. He was around a dog, cats, and a bird while he was living there, and he thought they were all best friends. He loved to cuddle with the dog and play with the cats. He is used to monthly grooming due to his Doodle coat, so his new owner will need to keep up with it so he doesn't get matted as Doodles are prone to. He enjoys a car ride and his favorite thing to do is play with toys and fetch with rubber balls (no cloth ones or rope - silly guy will try to eat it!). His vaccines have been updated and he was microchipped. We will neuter him before he leaves to his new home. $400.00 adoption fee. Story
Sandra Dee  is a very sweet and cuddly dog.  It takes some time for her to warm up to humans, but once she does, she is such a delight!  She is surprisingly very social and lights up when friends visit with their dogs as well. She is happy to share her food and toy with the other dogs. She gets a bit fearful when she comes across a dog who is a bit too much for her.  For instance, if they won't stop sniffing her, or they try to play too rough, she will yelp and run to you for protection. Energy Level?  Medium House trained?  Yes Describe how they are on leash?  She freezes as soon as the leash goes on. She will need someone to help leash train her. Describe how they are with other dogs?  She is lovely with other dogs. At first, she is timid, but once she gets to know them, she will play with them as long as they do not play too rough or sniff her too long.. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?   He did fine meeting a cat, but of course, slow safe introductions are always recommended Commands they know?  Trying to teach her to sit and come.  She still needs more work, but she is smart! What are their favorite things?  She loves everyone and treats (she is picky with the treats though). She loves to just hang out, cuddle, and play with their humans. What do they need to work on?  Confidence. She needs to be with someone who has patience until she builds that confidence with you. Also needs to work on basic commands and walking on leash.   How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  She has been left home alone (with my dog) 2 days a week while I am at work (8hrs). At first she was confined to an Xpen, but now she has free roam the house.  She whines and howls at first, then settles down.  I leave a pee pad and she has only used it once, otherwise she can hold it. Where do they sleep?  At first she slept in her Xpen. She whined but after some reassurance, she quieted down and slept the entire night.  Now I let her free roam the house at night and she sleeps on her bed or in her open crate by herself and she is totally fine. What is their ideal home?  She will do well in a home with children (preferably older), single person who works from home or works partly from home, or in a home where adopters are retired.  She'd do great with other dogs as long as they do not play too rough, but also can be the only dog in the household.   Our Adoption fee is $325.   For adoption consideration or to meet our dogs , please complete our online application:   www.everypetsdream.org/adopt  and  we will have everything we need to know to call you back and set up an appointment.  Follow us:  Facebook  and  Instagram   November 5, 2024, 12:10 am
