Story
Hi there lovely people, I am the cool dude Carter and here's some information about me Age: 9Breed: Australian LabradoodleWeight: 40 lbsHeight: 18-20 inchesGender: Male I was adopted at 8 weeks old from the Shuswap area and back then I was just a redheaded ball of fluff. Over the years, our family has grown. and unfortunately I have been neglected with the arrival of the second child. Even though I have access to a wonderful back yard that I play in daily, I really miss going on walks, which is such a necessity for feeling part of the pack. I'm still very energetic and turn right back to my puppy ways when I get cuddles or attention. At home, I am a well mannered and respectful boy when left alone. Up until two years ago I was at a doggy daycare every single day while my parents were at work and I really enjoy the company of other dogs. I have good behaviour off leash and at dog parks. It usually helps if I have a soft introduction to new dogs. I haven't had any experience with cats yet. While I get along with older children, small children make me nervous.  My perfect home would have people with enough time and energy to spend with me, preferably without small children. Energy level: Moderate I get along with:Dogs: YesCats:  UnknownKids: No Fears:  I can be skittish around skateboards, rollerblades and scooters, but these are just things I need to get accustomed to and can be addressed with patience and training. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Leash skills: Yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: YesHealth notes: I have no health issues and have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped My adoption fee is $500 CAD plus applicable taxes. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##2298349##
