Approximate Age: 6 years old Approximate Weight: 56lbs Meet Francis, the foster dog who lives up to his nickname - "Fancy Pants Francis". This 6ish-year-old gentleman is known for his overall chill demeanor, but don't be surprised if you catch him doing tornado spins while joyfully tossing his toys in the air because even a refined man such as himself needs to have some fun from time to time. Francis is very friendly with other dogs (and cats!) but, for the most part, walks past them with his nose in the air, because they should be so honored to be in his presence! Francis is currently in search of a nice and quiet home where he can feel comfortable. He is the perfect combination of independence and affection, often finding his way onto your lap for a few minutes of snuggles. It's important to note that Francis may exhibit some stranger danger in the home, so introductions should be approached slowly and cautiously. He has bitten people in the past when they enter his home. However, outside of the house, he has no issues with strangers - his protective nature is solely dedicated to the King and Queen of his castle. Side note, sometimes Francis has issues with cars- he must protect the kingdom from the UPS driver!! A few sprays from a water bottle and he will retreat back to his domain. If you are a patient and understanding adopter, Fancy Pants Francis would be thrilled to become a part of your family. Loves her ball, ice cubes and playing hide and seek (when it is time to go outside) - Scared of many things - especially when outside - Not great on a leash, will need patience and practice. - Still working on house manners - Dislikes the outside This little girl is a good girl who is looking for her forever family. She is a good mix of playful and calm. We have watched her grow and come out of her shell as she learns all about this big world around her. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and Saturdays 11am-3pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd. Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs and families, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 3 days. Note: ODHS adopts within a 350 mile radius of Fredericksburg, Virginia. A $50 out of state fee applies.

Story
Pawzee was bought from a VA breeder, and we were told he was mostly Newfie, however, after a DNA test he is mostly Great Pyrenees. He loves to be outside and would thrive at a farm or big backyard. He is an extremely sweet and loving dog and has grown up around children, a cat, dogs and even a bunny and has always been a good boy with all of them. Unfortunately he has grown to be too big and strong for me to walk and can be a bit stubborn at times so he needs someone way bigger than me ( I am 5feet tall).
