Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Coach and his little sister Marley have grown up in the Texas Hill Country with goats and chickens, and were surrendered to us in early December. Since coming to Windsong Ranch, they have both been to the vet for vaccinations, heartworm test (negative!), and spay/neuter surgery. We are rotating them in and out of our pasture as we confirm what we were told by their previous owner. So far, both dogs have done well with our goats, but we haven't yet tested them with our chickens. Marley and Coach both get along well with other dogs. Both are very playful, and we intentionally rotate them in the pasture separately, so we can confirm that they will play with OTHER dogs, not just with each other. These dogs are very friendly with people and would do well on a small homestead where they will get plenty of attention and affection from the family. Please complete the application on our website if you are interested in meeting Marley or Coach.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 16, 2024, 11:23 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mouse King is one of the Nutcracker Suite puppies who looks more like his dad, a purebred Komondor, than his mom, an Anatolian Shepherd. In their first home, these puppies were living with chickens, ducks, geese, a couple of goats, dogs, barn cats, and a few assorted other animals so they have had a great diversity of exposure. When he was VERY young (just a few weeks old) Mouse King suffered a traumatic brain injury believed to have been caused by a goat either kicking him or head-butting him when his skull was still puppy-soft. He seems healthy and robust, and he is growing like a weed, but his intellectual development seems delayed compared to his siblings. For example, he loves taking treats from my hand, but he doesn't seem to comprehend the concept of SIT, which his sisters learned in just a couple of days. Mouse King is really playful with other pups and sometimes seems a little more rambunctious than they are, as though he has no inhibitions. If another pup corrects him to tell him he's being too rough, he cries and backs off. He settles very quickly in the barn, but is more rowdy when outside. With all of this in mind, we don't think Mouse King should be adopted as a future LGD. He could be a wonderful PET on a small homestead where he could live around livestock. But he could also go to a traditional suburban home with no livestock, with another playful dog as his companion. In our experience with another dog who had a traumatic brain injury as a wee pup, her developmental delays did not inhibit her house/potty-training, so our expectation is that Mouse King could learn house manners too. If you have a heart for special needs pups, we hope you'll consider Mouse King. In our experience, the only real accommodation needed was to keep expectations reasonable -- to be willing to love the pup and not worry too much about obedience training. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.UPDATE: Ginger Gold (AKA Whiskers) has moved into the house and is doing great! She definitely likes being a house dog and quickly decided that the sofa is REALLY comfy. She hasn't had any potty accidents in the house, and she is content to sleep in a crate at night, which is part of how we potty/house-train dogs. She walks OK on the leash, but if she gets frightened by crowds or noise, she will quickly slip between my legs, so she definitely needs more practice walking on a leash. Whiskers gets along well with other dogs and never bothered our barn cats when she lived in the barn/pasture. ORIGINAL BIO: Ginger Gold (aka Whiskers) is one of the Apple Dumpling Gang pups. Her mom is a pinto Anatolian Shepherd who is an excellent LGD, and dad is a Komondor, also an excellent LGD. These pups were born on a small homestead in the Texas hill country with a few goats, LOTS of chickens, geese, and turkeys, plus a few other types of livestock. Since coming to Windsong Ranch, they have continued to be exposed to our goats, though we don't leave them in the pasture unsupervised because they are still young. We haven't weighed the pups in a couple of months, and they are definitely growing like weeds. Our best guess based on her growth so far, is that Whiskers may weigh 70-80 lbs by the time she reaches adulthood. Her dad is over 100 lbs, and her mom was still lean at 80 lbs when she was adopted, so it's possible she may grow larger than our estimate. If you're looking for a friendly companion for your home or homestead, complete the application on our website.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 16, 2024, 11:23 am

Story
Queen came from Wills Point, TX. She is 1 yr and 2 months old. She is friendly and loves kids. She will make a great pet for a family. She is smart, affectionate and listens well. King (male) is also from Wills Point, TX. King is 9 months old. He is also a Great Pyreneese. He weighs about 75 pounds. King is also smart, gentle, and affectionate. They have been together for 9 months. King is mellow and loves kids. I would like a family to adopt them both since they have been together for 9 months. Our work hours have increased to 12 hour days, so they are alone most of the day. They need a good family to love them. They were purchased to be farm dogs, but our move to the country was delayed.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Carson!  Born around November 2021, he weighs around 85 pounds. He is a happy boy with the most adorable freckles sprinkled on his muzzle. This handsome lovebug is obsessed with people.  He’s a Velcro dog!  He loves everyone and wants to be as close to you as possible.  He loves to gently give you his paw and sweetly give you kisses.  He might even climb in your lap if you allow it.  His happiest place is with people. Carson gets along great with other dogs.  He likes to “pet” the dogs in his foster home!  He’ll sit next to them, sweetly pat them on the head with his paw, then switch to his other paw and give them more gentle pats. He loves to be brushed!  When you use an undercoat grooming rake on him, he will lay there and roll around so you can get every nook and cranny! He could live in a multi-dog household or as your one-and-only best dog.  He is slightly playful, and occasionally enjoys picking up a toy.  Sweet Carson is totally house trained and has no need for a crate.  He rides well in a car.  He doesn’t bark much. Prior to coming to us, Carson was running as a stray and was hit by a car.  His back leg was broken and had to be amputated.  He is all healed now and walks great on his three remaining legs. Carson will do best in a one-story home, so he doesn’t have to negotiate many stairs.  Children in the home should be old enough to understand that they shouldn’t lean on him, knocking him off balance. Carson will bring joy to your world. SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 16, 2024, 2:02 pm
