Story
Xander – The Gentle Soul 🖤 Xander’s story isn’t an easy one. Life hasn’t always been kind to him, and his past has left its mark. He carries a shy, cautious air, the kind that tells you he’s seen more than his fair share of hard days. But beneath that timid shell is a heart aching to trust, to love, and to finally belong. Xander isn’t the dog who will come crashing into your lap right away. He’s the one who will quietly watch, waiting to see if your kindness is real, if your patience is steady, and if your love is the kind that doesn’t give up. With time, gentle encouragement, and consistency, Xander begins to unfold—like a flower opening in the sun after a long storm. And when he does? You’ll see the makings of the most loyal sidekick you could ever ask for. The kind of friend who doesn’t just follow you—he chooses you, every single day. ✨ Shy but deeply sensitive. ✨ Needs a calm, steady home filled with patience. ✨ Blossoms under gentle guidance. ✨ Has the heart of a true sidekick once trust is built. Xander may not be everyone’s dog—but for the right person, he’ll be the dog. The one who teaches you the beauty of second chances, the power of patience, and the unshakable bond that comes when a wounded soul learns to trust again. 🐾

Story
Meet Pearl! Pearl is a beautiful 2-year-old Great Pyrenees with a soft heart and a goofy, lovable personality. She spent about six months living as a stray in a rural area of California before finally making her way to the shelter. Because of that, Pearl likely hasn’t experienced life as a typical indoor family dog yet, so she’ll need a patient home willing to help her learn what it means to be part of a family. Despite her rough start, Pearl is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and eager for attention. She has a playful, silly side that shines and she truly enjoys spending time with her people. True to her breed, Pearl also loves being outdoors, so a home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely explore and relax in the fresh air is required. Pearl has done well with other friendly dogs and may enjoy having a canine companion. However, we were told she has chased chickens in the past. Her history with cats is unknown, but cat testing can be done for serious applicants. Pearl will thrive in a home that understands she’s still learning as she adjusts to indoor life. With patience, kindness, and a little guidance, this sweet girl is sure to be a loyal and loving companion. If you’re looking for a gentle, goofy guardian with a big heart, Pearl might just be your perfect match. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled on Instagram (@nwdogproject) for updates! If you would like to be considered as Pearl's forever home, be sure to submit an adoption application on our website! Adoption fee includes; spay/neuter, microchip, microchip registration, dewormer, fecal testing, flea/tick prevention and age-appropriate vaccines. Pearl would do great in a home with...Cats : Dogs : Yep!  Kiddos : 10+   ##2662678##

Story
Meet Baloo! Baloo is a mature Great Pyrenees with the softest personality to match his big, fluffy appearance. This calm, squishy marshmallow was found as a stray at a school, happily spending time playing with the children. It’s clear that Baloo enjoys people and has a naturally gentle, easygoing nature. Since coming into our care, Baloo has proven to be an all around easy keeper. He’s relaxed, affectionate, and takes life at a nice, steady pace. While we don’t know his exact age, we believe he is fully mature and likely around 5 years old. Baloo gets along well with other dogs but his history with cats or livestock is unknown. Cat testing can be done for serious applicants. Baloo enjoys spedning his time outside so a home with a securely fenced yard is required.  If you’re looking for a laid-back, loving dog who brings calm energy and plenty of fluffy cuddles, Baloo might be the perfect addition to your family. This sweet boy is ready to trade his stray days for a warm home and people of his own. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled on Instagram (@nwdogproject) for updates!
