Story
Hello everyone. My name is Kaila and here is a little info about me: Breed: Jindo/German Shepherd MixAge: 2 yearsGender: Female    Weight: 44 lbHeight:  57 cmHighlight(s): Good with other dogs, rarely barks In February 2022, I found myself in a city pound as a stray, along with my Shepherd mom and two siblings. While they were lucky enough to find their forever homes, I was left behind, feeling a little lonely. But hey, that's all in the past now because I'm ready to find my own loving family! I must admit, I can be a bit shy when I first meet new people. But if you approach me gently, I'll warm up to you quickly. I even enjoy being petted and lifted once I feel comfortable. Treats? Oh, I love them! I'll happily take them from your hands. However, if I'm feeling too nervous, I might pass on the treats for now. It's all about finding that balance, you know? Guess what? I had the pleasure of meeting a two-year-old human boy once. He whined a lot, but you know what? I was super patient with him. I understand that little ones can be full of energy and noise, and I'm more than happy to be a calm and gentle companion for them. When it comes to meeting new dogs, I have different approaches. Sometimes, I'm all about play and will actively approach them, ready for some fun. Other times, I prefer to just say a quick hello and then mind my own business. It really depends on my mood. Oh, and when I visit a dog park for the first time, I might feel a bit overwhelmed. In those moments, I'd love to find a cozy corner where I can feel safe and secure. Now, let's talk about cats. I've encountered a few stray cats during our walks, and I must admit, they make me a little nervous. I prefer to keep my distance and just sniff them indirectly. I'm still learning to be more comfortable around them, but for now, I'll stick to walking with my handler and exploring the world together. I have a moderate energy level - at a lower side. At home, I'm a pretty calm and relaxed pup. I love to chill out and take naps. In fact, I've already found my favorite spot under the desk, and that's where I like to set up my comfort zone. When my handler puts me on a leash, I'm a good girl and follow her lead. During walks, I can still be a bit tense and timid. You might notice that I tuck my tail most of the time. But don't worry, I'm learning to trust and feel more at ease. I walk well on a leash and won't pull you around. Now, car rides are a bit of a challenge for me. I tend to get carsick and vomit, but I'm getting better at it. Short drives are becoming easier for me, and I'm hopeful that with time, I'll overcome this little hurdle. Oh, and did I mention that I'm pretty independent? I can jump into a car all by myself, and I'm totally okay with being brushed. Baths? No problem! I tolerate them well. Now, let's talk about food. I have a healthy appetite, but I do get a bit uncomfortable when people get too close while I'm eating. It's just a little quirk of mine, but with some patience and understanding, I'm sure we can work through it together. So, if you're looking for a sweet and gentle companion who's still learning to navigate the world, I'm your girl! I may have had a rough start, but I'm ready to find my forever home where I can feel safe, loved, and cherished. If you think we could be a perfect match, please reach out and let's start this beautiful journey together.  I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: yesKids: yes   Fears: Unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition. Training: Yes, Leash and crate trainedLeash skills: Yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please be prepared to help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes: I have been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. ##1830305##

Story
Hello there! My name is Aleck, and I have an incredible story to share with you. Rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea in 2021, I narrowly escaped a life of unimaginable hardship. Now, I'm ready to embark on a new chapter filled with love, joy, and endless tail wags. Here's a little more about me: Breed: Jindo mixAge: 4 yearsGender: male    Weight: 51 lbHeight:   cmHighlight(s): Calm, Happy, Rarely Bark Despite the challenges I've faced in the past, my heart is full of love for humans. I'm a social pup who isn't shy around strangers - in fact, I quickly warm up to new faces and love making new friends. Even at the vet, I approached the nurses with confidence, eagerly accepting treats and showing off my friendly personality. I've been staying in a foster home since last March, and let me tell you, I've settled into home life perfectly. I'm completely house-trained and have no issues with separation anxiety. When my foster mom goes to work, I patiently wait for her to come back so we can go on our walks and have fun together. Whether it's a cozy condo or a spacious house, I know I'll fit right in and make myself at home. I get along well with other dogs, especially with gentle female pups. While I may be a bit reserved around male dogs, I'm friendly and enjoy saying hi and sharing space with my furry friends. I'm not much of a wrestler, but I love exploring the world and going for walks. I get so excited about our outdoor adventures that I voluntarily hop into the car because I know it means more fun times ahead. Recently, I even got to dip my paws into the sea water for the first time - what a thrilling experience! I do have a strong prey drive, so it's important to keep me leashed and away from cats, squirrels, and bunnies during our walks to keep everyone safe. I'm looking for a loving and understanding forever home where I can continue to heal and thrive. If you're an experienced pet owner who can provide a secure environment and help me manage my prey drive, I think we could be the perfect match. Let's shower each other with affection and create lasting memories together. I can't wait to find my forever family - could it be with you? Let's find out! Energy Level: I have a moderate energy level. I'm very calm at home. I like to chill out or take a nap. It doesn't mean I don't like walks. I love walks! I'm not nervous in new areas. I'm curious and adventurous. I get along with:Dogs: YesCats: No Kids: Yes Fears: Unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition. I haven't shown any signs of separation anxiety and I don't have escape tendency. Leash skills: Yes. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1823851##

Story
**update** I'm currently being fostered in Seattle, WA Hello everyone. My name is Sweetie and here is a little info about me: Breed: Jindo mixAge: 5 yearsGender: Female    Weight: 36 lbHeight: 49 cmHighlight(s): Good with other dogs, not scared of strangers, no escape tendency, no separation anxiety Found lokced up in a rusty and filty wire cage in South Korea, all I was given was food waste. I was very skinny and looked lifeless when my amazing rescuing saved me.  From the very beginning, I was very friendly to humans and a very cheerful girl. You may find me a bit shy at first but I am very submissive to humans and would allow you to pet me and even lift me if you take the time and do it slowly. Once I completely open up to you, I'll be even more comfortable with pets and scratches. Car rides are not my favorite thing as I could feel very car sick and start drooling a lot.  My energy level is moderate and I enjoy outdoor activites and like to rest/calm at home after walks. At the dog parks, you will find me focused more on sniffing here and there and minding my own business rather than trying to play with new friends. However, I do gently say hi to my new dog friends at the park but I will quickly run away and continue my sniffing adventure.  Rarely will I bark at home, even when I'm left alone. I'm also crate trained and 90% hourse trained.   You will see I am friendly, cheerful & calm with no resource guarding issues toward humans or other dogs. I have only shown aggression to one dog among 30-40 dogs. During walks, I look very happy and confident. I follow my handler pretty well while enjoy sniffing here and there. Passing cars don't scare me and I'm not afraid of pedestrians, indeed I like approach people and say hi. After I finish peeing, I love kicking my back legs while looking really happy.  Energy Level: Moderate I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknown / I have never met a cat!Kids: yes Fears: Unknown/none observed. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs.
