Story
Note: Special Needs Dog due to Behavior/Shyness. Pepe is an adorable medium sized Scottish Aberdeen Terrier mix who was transferred from another rescue to Jelly's Place in March 2020, along with his sister. Pepe is extremely nervous and timid around people. He LOVES other dogs, and has become best friends with another Jelly's dog named Chee Yoo. Ideally the 2 will be adopted together. Pepe has a very similar personality to Chee Yoo and the two of them are like 2 peas in a pod. During his time at Jelly's Place, Pepe has gone from hiding in his dog house to taking daily walks on a leash. He is becoming more comfortable and confident, but still has a long way to go. He has learned to trust his primary caregiver, but is still not comfortable interacting with other people. Pepe would do best in calm, quiet home with dog experience and older or no children. Pepe is not a dog for first time adopters. He needs adopters who are willing to be patient and to give him the time and space he needs to feel comfortable, confident and loved. Another dog in the home is essential. If you are interested in adopting Pepe, we recommend that you come and spend time with him on several occasions so that he becomes comfortable with you. Pepe is UTD on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. Applications are being accepted and qualified applicants will be contacted.

Story
Welcome to Muttville's newest polar bear rescue venture. Appa is a small, poofy, winter bear (well, small for a bear, pretty medium-sized for a dog). What Appa lacks in eyesight she makes up for in fluff. It's true, you're going to need to buy a separate Roomba specifically for Appa fluff, but the ROI you'll get in love will be well worth it. See what her foster has to say! Appa is such a gentle fluffy teddy bear - wow! She is sweet, slow going, and oh-so-cute! She is still getting her bearings in our new environment but she did great with all the different dogs running around at HQ and has been an ANGEL with all the volunteers giving her hugs and love and cuddles. She has been good with my two year old kiddo (basically just ignores her) and also does well with my resident dog, husband, and guests. Appa's current favorite past times seem to be waddling and sniffing around our back patio area and napping on our cold tile floors (despite the many beds and blankets provided - ha!). One important thing to note is that she is significantly over weight, so much so that she cannot navigate stairs or walk much on leash without some help and her vision seems to be impacted by this as well (her fat folds and fur seem to block her eyes most of the time), but we're excited to see what she is capable of once she loses some lbs! We have a resident female chow chow that is almost the same exact size (but not overweight) and she navigates our stairs with ease and loves walkies and playing chase. The two of them are so cute and sweet together! We're hopeful and excited to see Appa's personality (and mobility) really bloom with some TLC. Her previous name was Lucy and she does seem to respond to that, and great news, she is very clearly potty trained! If you love oversized teddy bears or small slow waddling clouds, this is the gal for you!

Story
Hiromi was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but in less than 10 days, she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She greets people with ease as long as they approach with the same calm energy that she emits. She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. This gorgeous girl is approximately 4-years old and weighs 57 pounds. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! Interested in adopting?
