Story
I named this handsome fellow Spirit because he`s definitely a free spirit. He was brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 11/4 as a stray. Spirit is approx 2 years old and weighs 65 pounds. Though listed as a Husky, when checking with my Dog Scanner app I note that he is listed as having Akita and Korean Jindo Dog in his breed mix with perhaps some Canaan Dog thrown in for good measure. Spirit is a spunky high energy dog that can be a bit restless. It was raining outside so I brought him in inside to do his eval. He made it clear by whining and pacing that he did not like the confined space so i took him back outside where he was more cooperative. Spirit walks well on a leash. He may be house trained as he did his business outside. He knows the sit command, loves treats and takes them quite nicely. He is playful and loves quaky toys. He is friendly and has a pleasant nature. Spirit is ok with being petted but he is a fellow who has places to go, people to see and things to do so you have to catch him between all those activities to give him some loving.

Story
Hi! My name is Jinsook! I'm a 13 year old, female, White Korean Jindo mix and weigh approximately 43lbs. I was surrendered by my owner on 4/26/2023 because my owner was moving and was not able to take me. I am currently living the good life in foster care while I wait for my new family. I am currently living with 3 big dogs (male and female) and get along well with all of them. I do need to be fed separately from other dogs when it's time to eat. Don't let my age fool you; I have some pep in her step and am still quite playful! I enjoy morning walks, with or without my friend Honey, and am good on the leash. I am a sweet, affectionate lady who enjoys being petted. I am house and crate trained. I do not get on the furniture (although I am allowed to do so and am capable of jumping on the couch). I would do best in a home without children or cats. I am spayed, microchipped, current on my rabies vaccination, basic boosters, and heartworm negative! Because I am currently in foster, meet and greets will be scheduled by approved application only! To apply, please visit https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense. November 6, 2024, 7:31 pm

Story
Meet Gorda! Our amazing 9 year old Chow mix girl Gorda is ready to find her forever family! She’s looking for someone who can provide daily walks and an active lifestyle. Here’s some info about her.Walking Needs: She tends to pull strongly at first but eases into the walk as she settles. Daily exercise is essential for her happiness!Family-Friendly: Gorda has done well with children in the past and thrives in a family home environment.Dog Compatibility: While she enjoys the company of other dogs, she does best with neutral, low-energy, and submissive companions.Cat Tolerance: She has shown neutral behavior around cats. She spends a lot of her supervised time around our cat, and she shares the bedroom with us at night. She occasionally gets curious, but a simple `no` or `leave it` redirects her attention.Affectionate Nature: This girl craves companionship and prefers being close to her humans. She enjoys cuddling and often sleeps at the foot of the bed or beside you.Crate Training & Anxiety: Gorda struggles with crate training and struggles with separation anxiety, which is currently managed with Trazodone.Active Lifestyle Lover: She adores outdoor activities like walking, jogging, and sniffing sessions. If you`re physically active, she will be your perfect match!Car Rides: She`s enthusiastic about car rides but can get a bit anxious during them. Patience and reassurance are key here.Stubborn Spirit: Although she can be a little stubborn initially, her loving nature more than makes up for it.If you have experience with dogs and are ready to welcome this sweet senior into your home, please consider adopting her. She promises to fill your life with love, joy, and plenty of outdoor adventures! To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt It doesn`t obligate you, but it is the first step. We don`t get to all of the inquiries but respond to all applications. Thank you for choosing to rescue!
