Story
No. Dot Com, the peewee Maltese Yorkie mix currently setting the Muttville world afire with dainty adorability, did not get an ear lift. Those highflying beacons of lace-trimmed glamour are natural. Or supernatural. Real for sure. So is her gentility and quiet curiosity. Firm on her feet and friendly to new people, dogs and experiences, she takes it all in with magnanimity - and the intention of using it in poetry she composes whilst sunbathing. She may be a scant 7 lbs, but girl can do the stairs! Nothing left to do but adopt her this instant. Here's some notes from her foster: Dottie (DotCom) is just waiting to become your teeny, bubbly, new best friend! Dot’s favorite things are attention, food and especially people who give her attention and food! This friendly girl is great at reading the room— if you’re up and doing stuff around the house, she’ll be chasing you, running around and paying attention to what you’re doing. If you’re chilling out, watching tv, doing some work… she’ll calmly find a comfy spot near by to take a nap, or sneak in some cuddles. Dottie sleeps through the night, likes other dogs, enjoys car rides, loves being outside going on walks or being carried in a sling. I believe Dottie was trained to use a pee pad as I’ve seen her use the one intended for one of my own dogs multiple times, but I keep her on a schedule and still take her out every few hours. Dot is tiny in size, but has a huge personality- silly, sassy, sweet..mixed with perfect amount of crazy bedhead, you just can’t help falling in love with her! Dottie is going to bring so much love and laughter into your home. I can’t wait until she find the perfect forever family she deserves!

Story
Meet Turnpike! Turnpike is a sweet-as-sugar senior who’s ready to steal your heart! This lovable boy has a gentle soul and a wagging tail that never stops. Whether it’s a quiet cuddle on the couch or a sunny stroll in the park, Turnpike is always by your side, bringing endless joy. Turnpike gets along with everyone he meets and has a soft spot for treats and cozy blankets. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion, Turnpike is ready to find his forever home. Here's some notes from his foster: Turnpike: A Sweet and Mellow Addition to a Family with Pets Turnpike is a charming, hairless little guy with an irresistible, funny, sweet personality! In just a few days, I fell in love with him, and he won over everyone he met with his gentle and easygoing nature. He's a quiet, independent dog who's happy to go with the flow. Turnpike is 100% potty trained and also pee pad trained. He's incredibly earnest about holding it until he can go outside, which is especially important considering how much water he drinks. He'd thrive in a home with easy access to a patio or yard for frequent potty breaks so he doesn’t have to be uncomfortable. When he needs to go, you will learn his quiet little gestures to let you know. Although one of Turnpike’s biggest charms is his independent nature happy to explore the smells of his environment by himself, he truly blossoms in a lively home with other dogs and plenty of human activity. His walks are much more spirited when he's in a social environment, and he loves greeting people and other animals with gentle nose bumps. He's incredibly gentle and not at all aggressive, suggesting he would do well in a home with other small pets (cats, squirrels, hamsters, etc.). Turnpike is a very quiet dog – I haven't even heard him bark! He's content to find his bed and settle in for a nap when left alone, showing no signs of issues being left alone. Being blind, Turnpike explores his surroundings by gently bumping into things. He's more confident in daylight and a little more cautious at night. I've found that walking close to him and shuffling my feet helps him navigate, and a gentle sniff of my leg or shoes reassures him I’m right here when he seems unsure. He quickly learned where the door to the house is and is always happiest when returning to the warm inside. Turnpike sleeps soundly through the night, but having a pee pad nearby would be helpful for any nighttime potty needs. While he enjoys snuggling on the bed, it's important to be cautious due to his blindness and ensure he can't fall. He loves nose, ear, belly, and chest rubs to help him drift off to sleep. He might be a little restless or grumble the first few nights in a new home as he adjusts. Turnpike is a truly special dog who deserves a loving and understanding home. He's such a good boy who brought so much joy to me! If you're looking for a gentle, low-key companion who’s house-trained, the quiet type, and adaptable, Turnpike is perfect!

Story
Macie is a sweet, silly girl who is about 5-8 years old and 15.5 pounds.  She loves her foster mom’s dogs and is sweet to her cat. She was closed down and ill when we pulled her from the shelter. Every day her personality is blooming a bit more. She is a real homebody and will walk around the block, but would rather stay home and hang out.  She is vaccinated, chipped and spayed and has had a recent dental. Macie is a special needs dog. She needs to take medication morning and evening for her heart murmur and arthritis. She also has ointment for dry eye and is probably blind in one eye. Macie was a stray so we don't know how she got to this state, whether an accident or genetics, but she takes pills in pill pockets easily and she is a wonderful companion. Her medications and  supplements cost about $100 per month and she is a dog that will need regular grooming. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Macie is $300. If you are interested in adopting Macie, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. January 17, 2025, 2:25 am
