Story
Precious is a reactive doggie, that means she may become overly aroused by common stimuli. They may lunge, bark and growl, becoming so preoccupied with whatever is triggering the emotion that they can be difficult to control and move out of the situation. A reactive dog is usually a fearful dog and in her case it is mostly because of her abusive past. Her adoptive pawsrents would need to be prepared for the possibility of an outburst if she were to feel overwhelmed or anxious. She would do best in a home without children or other doggies, although she gets along with them so well. She has some food aggression, so we crate her or separate her when feeding. She is absolutely the best pup we have had the blessings to bring in and help overcome many challenges from her past. She is so loving, friendly and aware of her surroundings. She is dog selective and prefers to be the only doggie in the home. Precious is a loyal, passive and dainty girl. She enjoys getting treats, hugs, running and spending time cuddling her current foster parents. She is definitely an indoors gal, but loves her outside playtime with her fellow foster fur-babies. She knows a few basic commands of paw shakes and sit. She is pee pad trained indoors and will go to the door to go potty outside. She is crate trained, dog, cat and kid friendly. Walks very well on a leash especially with a harness setup. She seems to be partial to men, and sometimes follows her foster dad around just hanging out, curious of what he is up to. She loves car rides, always ready to jump in the front seat and go. She sleeps indoors at night in bed with her foster parents or on her bedding and this girl not only sleeps all through the night but she likes to sleep in late as well. We believe she would thrive in a home with another furbaby and someone she can travel with because she absolutely loves going on trips. March 16, 2023 We received a phone call on a smaller pup that was found in the street, not of good health needing to be picked up. We agreed to get her and had placement arranged! On the way to that little one, the same lady reached out to us that there was another pup in need of a rescue that was in a bad situation and needed medical attention. We were nervous because there was no plan for her, but we agreed that we could. Upon arriving she sat with a small rope tied around her neck, skin and bones, you could see every rib and backbone sticking out. Her nails were long and filthy, she smelled of urine and feces. I walked up to her and she bowed her body down as if she thought I would hurt her, I gently said hello and rubbed her nose and she was ready to go! As we were walking to the truck, the person who had apparently had her for years rudely commanded me to give him back that rope and I told him I needed to walk her to my vehicle first because I didn’t have anything extra with me to secure her but thankfully another person stepped in and said it’s okay I will give you mine. I rushed and put her in my backseat and never looked back. Never go on a rescue mission alone or without heavy protection on you, especially if you feel it’s a threatening environment. We got Miss Precious home and she was so scared it took us nearly three hours to get her out of the truck. She was so afraid of the unknown! She was covered in fleas, ticks, skin infections and she was producing milk! Yes, she had a litter and apparently it was not her first. We did ask about the puppies and were told they had been given away! Father God, we pray and ask a hedge of protection over those babies Lives! So Precious spent her life in a crate, tied to a tree or mostly kept in a camper without AC/Heat. Whatever confined area she was in definitely caused her paws to fold in and nails to curl under. She was used multiple times for breeding and has sure signs of physical abuse and neglect. She flinches to every move you make, and cowers down when you come up to her. She runs from loud noises and hides in a corner. We only know what we have been told, the information the vet clarified and what we can clearly see! Precious has had a rough life for sure. The previous owners that surrendered her said she had been with him six year! According to her dental she could very well be, but the Veterinary Clinic said approximately three years of age. We strongly believe Precious will thrive in any home and can only be an indoor family addition. She is very loyal, builds a strong bond and emotionally attaches herself to one to two humans. With her history of neglect and abuse she will require extra love and attention to feel secure and adapt comfortably in her environment. Precious is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, up to date on all vaccines, on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives and dewormed. We pray today Lord that you send an angel specifically for Precious. You know her wants and needs. We know you will provide the best life and it will replace the years that have been taken from her so well that she won’t even remember them, in Jesus name we pray, Amen. 1 Peter 5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
