Story
Sweet Lydia is looking for a calm family to love her! She has a history of coming in and out of the shelter environment for the past 4 years. In 2019, Lydia was surrendered to the shelter when she was just 2 years old because she kept escaping from the backyard, yet she was kept outdoors 24/7. She was a cutie, so of course was adopted just a couple of days later. This adoption lasted for a few years! She stayed with this family until a few months ago when they surrendered her because of needing to concentrate on caring for an elderly family member. She again was adopted quickly. She was returned for the third time in November for "being aggressive towards the family, including their small child". Mind you, Lydia has lived her entire life with children and other dogs. Unfortunately, we don't know the circumstances behind what happened in her third and most recent home. She is very afraid and confused.Lydia has been tossed around time after time. Now that she is under our rescue, we will strive to do right by Lydia and find her a home where she can relax, settle in, and spend the remainder of her life being loved and cherished. Lydia is now 6 years old and weighs 20lbs. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative.************************************Lydia is located in a foster home. We are happy to coordinate a meet & greet for pre-approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at https://bit.ly/USAHOTNADOPT2024Adoption process:Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved.From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption.Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption. ##2238887##

Story
Tinsel DOB is 10-2-15 and was adopted from Catawba County humane society. Tinsel is a very loyal and loving dog but would be a much better match for a family that had her as an only dog. My son has moved in with us and brought his dog, which Tinsel does great with until there is food, treats or toys involved. When that happens she becomes very aggressive towards the other dog and has started fights. We have another older lab that Tensile gets along with but she is definitely determine to be the alpha dog and the lab lets her.

Story
Hi there! I’m Hiccup, an 8-year-old Jack Russell Terrier with a heart as big as my body is small. Despite a detour in his journey that led him to seek a new forever home, Hiccup's spirit remains as lively as ever. While he may take a little time to warm up to new faces, he'll be your most loyal companion once he does. Hiccup is an ideal match for households with other dogs, as he is friendly with all dogs he has met. His manners extend to potty time, whether it's indoors on paper or outside. He is fully potty trained. Hiccup's medium activity level means he's not always the most energetic pup on the block, but he'll be glad to join you for a relaxing afternoon at home. Hiccup prefers the freedom of not being confined to a crate but has proven himself to be a model citizen when left alone in the house. With his gentle nature and laid-back demeanor, Hiccup would thrive in a loving home where he can be given the time and space to adjust at his own pace. Lastly, Hiccup has a heart murmur and dilated cardiomyopathy with pulmonary edema. He will require lifelong medication for his condition. If you're searching for a loyal companion who's as sweet as he is spunky, look no further than Hiccup. He's ready to embark on a new adventure with a loving forever home that will cherish him for the wonderful dog that he is. Before emailing- please read: - Yes, this dog is available for adoption - The adoption fee for Hiccup is $365 - Apply at c2cnd.org - The adoption fee covers their age appropriate shots, microchip, deworming, spay/neuter, and any other medical expenses while in our care. - Local adopters only. Due to our thorough adoption process including home visits, we limit our adoptions to local families in the greater Charlotte area. - If you have any additional questions, email us at dogs@c2cnd.org and we will respond as soon as possible!
