Story
Little Ellie Mae is an absolute love. She is an adult lady, although we can't say her exact age. Left to fend for herself in an apartment when her family moved and left her behind...Ellie is decompressing well, and has begun to enjoy being a dog that is loved! Ellie will still give out a scream now and then when you are putting her down...she has been completely cleared healthwise, so our guess is she may have been dropped and fears the fall? We really won't ever know but we do know that it's getting better, and she has learned to trust more each day. This little lady will not be one to go on walks with you, or to the store. Maybe in time, but Ellie will need time to decompress in her new home, and trust her new people again. She is so worth the time it may take, she's just a little one truly looking for love.
Ellie would do best in a quieter household, and another small dog will probably comfort her more. She has just started playing with the small dog in her foster home, so this would be helpful in her new home. We require a fenced in yard for her, she does like to walk around the yard, and trying to put her on a harness and leash right now would not be ideal for her. Someone home more than not, whether you work from home part time, or she is not left alone all day. Older children, at least 14+, and a family again that will understand she will need time to decompress, and trust her new people. Ellie wont be going to work with you, and won't attach to everyone all at once. If you can give Ellie this time, and all that we ask for, then please fill out our adoption application.
