Story
Our dogs are physically located and fostered in North Carolina until they are adopted. Once they are adopted we can transport them to your location or any of our north eastern delivery locations. We have a a very affordable transporter who comes north every other week. This boy is a Jack Russell mix. He was born 1-4-2023. This boy weighs around 15 pounds and he is extremely social and great with adults and older children and other animals except cats. He likes to chase cats. This boy has been started on crate training and potty training. Willie had horrible skin when he came in. He had a horrible flea allergy. He must remain on good flea prevention such as Bravecto, Nexgard, or similar prevention. We have gotten his skin nearly straightened out. This furbay will go home neutered, current on vaccines, preventives and microchipped. We require a prescreen application to adopt. You can get that on the website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Story
This precious little brindle girl is considered to be a Jack Russell dachshund mix girl and is always going to be what you call a lowrider dog in her life. She is looking for a home that is active and can take her fun puppy antics all in stride. She is a climber very similar to a little monkey and she loves to explore the great outdoors with her nose. She only moves slow when she's about ready to collapse and take a nap. She snuggles. She gets along with other dogs including a huge 100 lb Golden Retriever. She is a happy girl and did not like her photo session. It made her shy and not looking as confident as she truly is in real life. She is currently 9 lb at 12 weeks of age. We think that she was born somewhere around the middle of June. She will be perfect for a home that has a fenced-in backyard as she is not a fan of the leash yet and does need the ability to be able to run to her heart's desire. She will perhaps learn leash training easier in a harness. She is ready for adoption now and if you are ready for the excitement and activity of your life then sign up by writing to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com. We anticipate her final adult weight to be in the 20 lb range PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 3, 2024, 10:10 pm

Story
We are almost finished introducing you to all the new dogs we have taken in the past couple weeks 😰 Meet Columbo, one of the most skittish of the 10 little ones we took in from the home that ended up with too many dogs due to lack of spay/neuter. The males in the home all wore very tight double layer belly band wraps over their “boy parts” to keep them from continuing to breed and have more litters. A creative solution for sure, though spay/neuter would have been much more effective and humane and they wouldn’t be getting skin infections from being constantly wrapped in pee soaked diapers. The real mystery 🕵️‍♀️ of Columbo is where he got his long legs from… he’s the tallest of the bunch, with most of them having short stubby little doxie dwarf legs 🤷‍♀️. They are all supposedly a mix of doxie, Shih tzu, poodle, and some kind of terrier. So maybe it’s the poodle in there that gave him his stilts. Or a taller Jack Russell. He’s a skittish panicky guy who uses his long athletic legs to fly away from new people and things that scare him, but he’s learning from the friendlier dogs to feel safe and warm up. He’s under 3 years old and 20lbs with the cutest wiry beard. Like the rest of his clan, he will need a calm adult patient home with at least one other doggie friend in the home to help him adjust to life outside of the only home and away from the only people he ever knew. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Columbo in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
