Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Spot, our newest resident at the Mikey & Me Kennels for Happy Days Rescue. Spot is a Jack Russel Terrier Mix, he’s just 9 months old, he weighs about 32 pounds, and he has the cutest brown ears.   Spot is friendly and attentive, he loves going on discovery walks and spending time in the outdoor play area. Spot is reported to love and be patient with kids, he’s good with men, women, other dogs and he’s even lived with cats. Spot had his initial vaccinations, he has been neutered, he was given a microchip, and he will have his first Vet appt. in Dexter on July 16th. He will be given a wellness exam and heart worm test at that time. Spot lived in an apartment prior to the shelter so he may be potty trained. Apparently his owner had to surrender him as she wasn’t supposed to have more than one pet. If you would like to meet Spot, please submit an adoption application at  happydaysdogandcatrescue.org . This little man shouldn’t be living in a kennel and deserves to find his new family. More photos will be forthcoming at a later date. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  The name's Eddie, though my foster family likes to call me Edwina when I’m being cheeky, Dennis the Menace when I’m extra naughty, and my favorite—Eddie-Beddie-Boo! A Bit About Me: I’m a one-ish year old Jack Russell Mix, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. My foster mom says I have springs for legs, never-ending energy, and a “nutty” personality—whatever that means! I’m quite mouthy and might have some herding breed in me, which adds to my unique charm. I came in as a stray, clearly never socialized, and with no basic training. New things, especially new people, scare me, and I will bite if I feel cornered. My foster mom is helping me build confidence, but it’s a long journey. So, whoever adopts me needs to know that the dog they meet initially won’t be the dog they ultimately get. Getting to Know Me: When meeting new people, my foster mom advises them to ignore me completely, even if I’m barking and sprinting around. This helps take the pressure off and lets me get used to new smells, sounds, and movements. Typically, it takes about 30 minutes of being ignored before I show my true self. The Real Eddie: Once I warm up, I love exploring backyard woods, standing on tables and chairs, zooming around at 100 mph, thrashing in kiddie pools, and playing with other animals—though I can be dominant with male dogs. I’m also very mischievous, in true Jack Russell fashion. My foster mom says I’d be a TikTok star because I’m constantly entertaining! I love stealing toys from my human foster siblings and making them chase me to get them back. My Ideal Forever Home: No kids under 13 - I like to bite little kid legs when they run by, just ask the human kids in my home. Playful dog siblings - I will annoy older dogs. Confident cats - I would chase a cat that runs, not to hurt them but to play. Active lifestyle - I’m always ready to run, romp, play, and go on adventures. Patient family - I need to keep working on my confidence with new people, sounds, and places using positive reinforcement. Boundaries - I’m smart and will get into things if you don’t set clear boundaries. Preferred: Jack Russell experience - We are one of a kind! ;) I don’t have resource guarding tendencies, love mealtime and treats, know “go to bed” when asked (I go to my crate), and am potty trained everywhere except the basement. For some reason, I can’t resist peeing in basements, so my foster family keeps that door closed! Ready for an Adventure? If you’re up for a project (me) and want to be constantly entertained, apply for a meet and greet! I promise you, life with me will never be boring!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.All animal breeds and ages are a best estimate August 7, 2024, 10:37 am

Story
Meet Rocko! This 15-pound Jack Russell mix is ready to rock-o your world! He's a year old and has a whole life of love to share with you! Like many others, Rocko's story starts out in sadness. He was abandoned in a trailer when his owners moved away. Thanks to the kindness of a good Samaritan, Rocko was rescued and brought to GLDR. We promised him we will find him a family that will treasure him his whole life! Hanging out with Rocko will be the highlight of your day! He's a spunky little man who isn't afraid to speak his mind. Rocko knows how to sit and takes his treats gently. He'll benefit from continued training as he grows. After sitting with him for a few minutes, he'll gladly crawl in your lap and soak up all the attention he can get. He also appreciates a good back scratch- after all he's earned a little r&r! Based on our evaluation, we feel Rocko would do well in a home with adults or families with kids ages 8 and up. He may have the ability to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you'd like the chance to show Rocko just how wonderful life can be with a loving family, please visit greatlakesdogrescue.com and submit your application today!

Story
Lucy is a 3 year old rat terrier that we rescued as a puppy. Lucy is a very sweet and loving girl. She loved cuddles and play time! In July 2023, she unfortunately slipped out of my screen door and injured a dog that was in our front yard. I believe it was a territorial response. However, with a new baby at home I unfortunately do not have the time to give her the training and attention that she needs. I love Lucy and recognize that this environment is not the best place for her to thrive at this point. She is a lovable girl who will make a family very happy!
