Story
This pet recently arrived at the adoption center and is ready to find a new home of their own! We are still getting to know them, but come on in to meet them and see if they are a good match for your family! If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by MSPCA at Northeast Animal Shelter. We have open adoption hours 11:30am-5pm daily - no appointment or application needed. Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat areas will remain open to walk through.

*Name: Shirley *Age: 2 years old (approximate age)*Current Weight: 19 pounds*Rescued from: Puerto Rico *Adoption fee: $550 (includes $50 refundable positive training commitment deposit)*Health: Up to date on vaccines Meet Ms. Shirley girl! This low riding scruffy Mama was rescued from Puerto Rico as a stray in the Condado area. Someone took her litter of puppies and left her behind. Our partner OBRA came to the rescue! Shirley was recently spayed and has been LOVING her time in her foster home. She is mellow and would love a somewhat peaceful home, where she can have unlimited belly rubs and love and the care and attention she deserves. Shirley will be available to go to the loving home of a vetted adopter starting Monday December 16, 2024. Are you sweet Shirley's forever? Shirley is learning to leash walk and has so far been potty pad trained. She is comfortable in a crate or enclosed space as needed while she is training and learning to enjoy life in a home. Every dog adopted through BNR’s Rock n Rescue comes with a great head start: your choice of a 6-week positive reinforcement training program or a one-time virtual training session provided by Bark n’ Roll! Both options are designed to help your new pup settle into their forever home using fun, reward-based techniques that encourage good behavior and build a strong bond with you. To apply to adopt, fill out an application at www.rescueallthedogs.org/adopt. Please note that RnR is a volunteer-based organization. While volunteers review applications as quickly as possible, it is helpful if you review the following information about our adoption process: LISTED BREED(S) & AGE: We are taking our best guess on age, breed, and size when fully grown, based on the dog's physical appearance and what we might have learned about one or both parents. We rarely know a dog's exact age or full breed mix of dogs, as our information is usually limited.RNR’s ADOPTION PROCESS: The first step in adopting or meeting one of our adoptable pups is to fill out an application at www.rescueallthedogs.org/adopt. Once we receive your application, one of our volunteers will contact you, review our adoption process, and answer any additional questions you may have. It is important to note that we do not go on a first-come-first-serve basis for adoptions but on the best fit for a family and, most importantly, the dog.MEETING ADOPTABLE DOGS: Meet and greets will not be scheduled until your adoption application is submitted and reviewed.APPLYING ONLINE: When completing an application, please do so from a computer (not a mobile device); make sure you answer ALL the questions in as much detail as possible and that you receive a confirmation email. ##2252815##

Good with dogs,
Story
This easy going guy is looking for a home to live out his retirement years. He is easy to handle and good with other dogs. Chai is currently in foster in Texas and is available for preadoption with a pickup on 1/20.  is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (puppies under the age of 6 months may not be sterilized prior to adoption, if this is the case your adoption coordinator will discuss the process with you)  To adopt or learn more about: , you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, visit our website: WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM ** PLEASE READ: If a dog/puppy is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. In some cases this dog may be pending an adoption already, and their profile has not been updated yet. Please note, SPR does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated otherwise. All breeds listed are educated best estimates by transferring shelter staff, our volunteers or our vets. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them the All American MUTT.  Our dogs are rescued from various situations (kill-shelters, owner surrenders, strays, etc). It is most likely that both their parents were strays and mixes of some sort. If you are interested in this dog, you MUST submit an application. Sandy Paws Rescue does not a have a public shelter in Mass, so there is no building you can visit without an appointment. Our dogs live in private foster homes or boarding kennels down south until adopted, or in some cases in our very small private kennel facility on Martha's Vineyard and foster care homes through out MV, Cape Cod and other parts of MA. A large majority of our dogs are adopted/spoken for prior to transport and release from state mandated isolation. To learn more about our rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of FAQ’s on our website at WWW.SANDYPAWSRESCUE.COM. **The FIRST step in adopting an animal from our rescue is to submit a completed adoption application. ##2250768##

**Athena is bonded with Hercules and will only be adopted out with him.**Athena is a sweet dog who is nervous being in the world on her own. She is looking for humans who will support her while she builds her self confidence.OTHER PETS: Athena lived with another dog before and is more confident when around that dog. Alone, she was uninterested in other dogs but not aggressive towards them either. Any dogs interested in living with Athena should meet her first to ensure a good match. [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: [Some Experience] KIDS: Athena is uncomfortable with handling and working on building self confidence, her best fit would be with humans who were able to respect her boundaries and work slowly to build a trust bond with her. [13+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Athena is a dog who will need daily walks and mental enrichment to ensure that her needs are met, she has the potential to be playful but she'll still need daily excercise and mental stimulation to ensure she can thrive. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Athena bond with her new owner and build self confidence as well as help her learn important skills. Athena may need extra support and patience while on her positive reinforcement training journey. [Moderate]GROOMING: [Minimal] December 2, 2024, 12:24 pm

**Hercules is bonded with Athena and will only be adopted out with her.**Hercules is a high energy adult dog who will be able to continue his active lifestyle long into his golden years with support from his humans. He is social and outgoing and is ready to add some zip to the life of his new people.OTHER PETS: Hercules has lived with other dogs before and does well meeting them; he is calm and solicits play and would likely do well living with other dogs. As with all our adoptable dogs, Hercules should meet any dog he would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: [First Dog] KIDS: Hercules is an energetic pooch who is spry beyond his years and comfortable with handling, making him a great playmate for smaller humans. As with all our dogs, Hercules should meet any minor humans he would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Hercules would do best with daily walks and mental enrichment to ensure he keeps his muscles & mind in prime shape even if he doesn't feel like playing much that day. He would likely do well on trail walks once he learns loose-leash walking, and could even compete for fun in dog sports like agility with proper positive reinforcement training. Keeping Hercules active, with moderate exercise and mental enrichment, will help him be able to stay active long into his golden years. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Hercules bond with his new owner as well as help him learn important skills. Participation in activities and dog sports will also require positive reinforcement training to help Hercules learn how to participate. [Minimal]GROOMING: [Minimal] December 2, 2024, 12:24 pm

Story
Meet Helen!   Helen is a resilient 8-10-year-old terrier mix who has overcome more than her fair share of hardships. Weighing in at just 8.5 pounds, this tiny senior girl has the heart of a fighter and the spirit of a puppy.   Helen’s story began in heartbreak—she was abandoned at a shelter in terrible condition and suffering from deadly pyometra. Thanks to the love and care she received after being rescued, Helen has made a remarkable recovery and is now ready to embark on the next chapter of her life.   Despite her age, Helen is still a lively, sprightly girl who loves to soak up attention and share her joyful energy. She’s proof that life can get better with a little love and care.   Stay tuned for more updates about this sweet survivor. One thing’s for sure: whoever opens their heart to Helen will be gaining a loyal and loving companion.   Interested in adopting Helen?
