Story
Dog Name: Kizmet Breed: Rat Terrier mix Sex: male Age: 2ish Weight: 10lbs Medical Needs: none! Housebroken: Working on it, will not go in crate, holds it all night and during working hours. Has accidents while out of the crate for long periods. Taking him out to go potty immediately after crate time, nap time, play time, and eating will keep him on track. Crate trained: Yes, you have to put him in the crate, but he’s okay once he’s in. Occasionally will bark and squeak, mostly if he needs to go potty or if he’s feeling very lonely. Good in the car: So far so good, he’s skittish so curls up under a blanket and doesn’t move. Good on a leash: He’s “good.” Definitely a flight risk. He’s only 10lbs so it’s easy to control him, but if something scares him he will pull away so best to keep a martingale collar on him so he can’t slip out. He likes to run circles around you but so far we can only walk him at night when there are less scary things like men and cars. Energy level: medium, he’s a peppy little boy, he mostly likes to just sit and cuddle next to you. Occasionally he will be naughty and pull a tea towel down, and lots of zoomies. Need a fenced in yard: Not necessary but must be kept on leash and under supervision at all times. Even with a fence I’d recommend keeping him leashed until he’s settled in. Dog Friendly: His previous foster said he spent lots of time with another little dog and they would sleep together. He’s not a fan of big dogs at all. Should not have big dogs in the home. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? He does not need another dog in the home. Cat Friendly? Unknown, he’d probably be scared of them. Kid Friendly: Kizmet is not a fan of kids. He is not aggressive towards them, just terrified. Children move too quickly and loudly for this tiny boy. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? A calm teenager Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Kizmet came from a terrible situation. He didn’t know love at all for the first two years of his life. Men and children are terrifying to him, any man in the house will need to accept and understand it may take months for Kizmet to cozy up to him. Kizmet loves women and feels the safest around them. Kizmet gets the silliest little zoomies jumping and prancing around. He loves to chase a tennis ball and enjoys being a little naughty and destructive occasionally. I like to give him a small piece of cardboard to tear to his hearts content. Kizmet is mostly very chill and sweet he’s just had a hard time and needs a calm loving home to learn how to be a real dog. Story
Dog Name: Tofu Breed: Rat terrier/Chihuahua mix Sex: spayed female Age: 2-3 years Weight: 9 pounds Medical Needs: none Housebroken: yes on a schedule Crate trained: yes but she will whine for a while if she can't see you or your dogs. Good in the car: yes, if in a crate will she nap, if in a car seat she needs a blanket to go under. Good on a leash: she doesn't pull, but she doesn't quite understand walks yet. A collar/harness is still a new experience for her as well. Energy level: medium Need a fenced in yard: no but a leash or harness is a must as strange noises startle her. Dog Friendly: yes If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Yes! She is most happy and confident when she has a little dog friend to match her energy. Cat Friendly? Not tested Kid Friendly: Not tested If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? She is afraid of sudden movements and noises so I wouldn't recommend a home with children Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Tofu is one of the many dogs who came up from a hoard situation from the south. She hasn't known kindness, toys, treats, or structure until getting rescued from there. The best match for Tofu will be someone who has patience and understanding that she will be suspicious of humans for quite some time. Story
Dog Name: Ida Breed: Jack Russell/Terrier Sex: Female Age: 2 Weight: 13 pounds Medical Needs: None Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: Yes. She might cry a little in the beginning, but she calms down shortly after going in. Good in the car: Yes, she’s happy just curled up in a blanket on the seat Good on a leash: Somewhat. Still working on that. Energy level: Has bursts of energy but will calm down and snuggle on the couch with you Need a fenced in yard: Preferably to get some of her energy out. She has been running around with her foster’s resident dog in the backyard and loves it. Dog Friendly: Yes If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No, not necessary Cat Friendly? Unknown Kid Friendly: Unknown Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Ida is extremely attached to the female of the house and will follow her around. However, she gets along with men and is not afraid of others. She was skittish when first entering her foster home, but it didn’t take long at all for her to warm up to her surroundings and feel comfortable. I do not doubt that that will be the case in her adopter’s home if they’re the right fit.
