Story
If you're looking for brains and beauty, you've found your girl! Cheyenne is a 27 pound spirited one-year-old Jack Russel mix with a heart full of love and energy! We don't really have any idea what her breed is, but given how hard working she is, we're guessing some sort of terrier. Being a tripod does not hold this girl back! She's still incredibly agile and athletic. Her current foster is an experienced dog trainer who has loved working with Cheyenne because she is eager to learn and follow. The foster will pass her on with a dictionary of commands, including ones that make her go to her crate, stay in her place, and heel! She can actually walk off leash! Watch the video in her bio to see for yourself! Basically, she'll do anything for food. Since she's a quick learner, she would love a family that wants to continue to work her brain and her body. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and walks well on a leash. So basically, all the hard work has already been done to make this pup perfect! She would do fine in a home with other respectable dogs but would also do well as an only dog. She doesn't need a huge yard, as long as she gets regular mental and physical exercise. Cheyenne is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. Story
Simba is a playful, sweet, four-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix. How can you resist that face. He is housebroken and in excellent health. He would love to show you all the tricks he can do. Simba needs a large fenced-in yard and another playful small dog for a playmate. As a young dog he still has abundant puppy energy. He hasn't been around small children, but loved the teenagers in his former family. Cats are a mystery, but he is a Jack Russell soooooooooo, maybe not. If you want a fun-loving dog that is a great ball player, Simba might be the dog for you. Simba is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. Story
Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie ready to play! SAM NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:  Sam      Best Guess for Breed: Jack Russell terrier and chihuahua mix   Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of April 2024       SEX: Male   Approximate Weight:  23 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested. Sam cannot go to a home with kids under age 15.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster   Check out this video of Sam: https://youtube.com/shorts/N-9ZEnGu1XM?si=Vof5zYEnwQRfa8Iq   Special adoption considerations: Sam is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!   Sam needs to go to a home with a resident dog to help him gain more confidence. he cannot go to a home with kids under age 15. Sam is nervous around men and tries to resource guard the things he values. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.   Sam is Looking For:   His forever home! This cutie, through no fault of his own, landed in the shelter. He's looking forward to his new chapter, eagerly awaiting all the sniffy walks he will get with his new humans, romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up. He's out of the puppy yips and as a wise, experienced dog, knows what's most important in life: Being safe and loved and under his own roof, and that's right at the top of his wish list. Right now, he's shy and unsure in new environments, so he needs extra patient and loving adopters who will help him become more confident in new places, and a welcoming resident dog who will show him how to dog! In exchange, he offers all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags he's stockpiling at the shelter and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see Sam trotting by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: Sam is adjusting very well and becoming more confident every day. He is still shy when outside and will stay close on walks while he frequently looks at you. He understands going to the bathroom outside but has his favorite places to go - #1 is the dog park!   Inside he is more bouncy and playful. He does have a rougher play style but hasn’t been destructive with anything. He gets along well with the resident dog and they play a lot. I would describe his energy level as medium+. He gets nervous when he sees big dogs and wants to observe them before greeting.   He is learning house manners, basic commands, and takes gentle corrections well. He does very well in the crate and will settle when asked. He loves giving and receiving affection and has the potential to be a snuggler given time and patience so he can fully relax in his environment.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13329Meet Zoey – A Sweet, Gentle Companion with a Heart Full of Love!Name: ZoeyGender: FemaleBreed: Jack Russell Terrier MixAge: 9 years youngWeight: 12 lbs.Current Location: Frederick County, MDAbout ZoeyHi there! I’m Zoey, a 9-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix with a gentle soul and a big heart (literally—I have a unique heart-shaped spot on my side!). OPH rescued me, and I’m now enjoying life with my foster family in Maryland. I may be a bit shy at first, but with patience and kindness, I warm up quickly and will soon become your most devoted companion.PersonalityI’m a calm, easy-going girl who loves gentle attention. I’ll nudge your hand or press my nose against your leg to let you know I’m ready for some love. Once I feel comfortable, I’ll follow you around, snuggle up at night, and even stash a few toys in my crate. My foster mom says I’m an absolute joy, bringing a warm, peaceful presence to the home.Routine and Daily LifeEvery morning, I take a slow stroll around the backyard to check on things, and at night, I head out for a final potty break. While I’m not one for a lot of excitement, I do have a job to do—making sure no unwelcome visitors enter the yard! I bark to let intruders know this space is protected. My eyesight isn’t what it used to be (thanks to cataracts), so my foster family has put up motion-sensor lights to help me find my way along my ‘trail’ without bumping into anything. When it comes to stairs, I’m not a fan. I tried them once, but I’ve decided they’re not for me. If stairs can’t be avoided, my foster mom helps me out by carrying me, which I appreciate so much.Energy LevelI’m a low-key, peaceful soul who enjoys quiet moments and gentle company. I may be a terrier, but I’m not a high-energy one—I’d rather spend time with my people in a relaxed environment. I enjoy short walks, exploring the backyard, and occasional playtime, though I’m working on staying trim under the vet’s advice. My treats are limited for now, but I still savor a snack now and then!Health and Special ConsiderationsI recently had a dental cleaning, and though I’ve lost a few teeth, I still eat like a champ! I also have a slight heart murmur that’s well managed with the help of a cardiologist. My vision has dimmed over time, and my bladder sometimes has a mind of its own, so my foster mom places pee pads where I rest as a precaution. I try to let my family know when I need to go outside, but the pads give us peace of mind.CompanionshipI’m looking for a calm, patient family who will appreciate me for who I am—a loyal, affectionate companion who takes a little time to warm up. I would do best in a low-key home where I can enjoy my golden years surrounded by understanding and love.Love and AffectionIf you’re looking for a gentle, sweet friend to share quiet days and cozy nights, I’m your girl! I may be a bit camera-shy, but my heart-shaped spot is ready to remind you each day of the love and joy I’ll bring to your life. Apply to meet me, and let’s see if we’re the perfect match!

ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/12742Meet Ben – The Quirky, Lovable Companion You Never Knew You Needed!Name: BenGender: MaleBreed: Mixed BreedAge: 3 yearsWeight: 30 lbsCurrent Location: Parsonsburg, MD.About BenMeet Ben, a charming, quirky 3-year-old mixed breed who’s guaranteed to keep you smiling. Weighing in at just 30 pounds, Ben brings a lot of personality in a small package. He loves to be the center of attention, especially with other dogs, and will happily bark to make sure they know he’s around! With his unique mix of lovable quirks and his natural talent for snuggling, Ben’s sure to be your perfect companion.PersonalityBen has a playful, goofy side that’s hard to resist. From chasing his tail to sitting with his bone during family movie nights, he’s all about providing entertainment. He’s also a certified snuggle expert—he’ll jump right up on the couch or bed to curl up with you, and his favorite spot is on your lap. Ben is a big fan of head and belly scratches and will happily bask in the attention. See me being silly here!Energy LevelBen enjoys a good outdoor stroll and exploring the world around him. Though he may get a little distracted, he’s always game for a wander. Inside, he’s a bit of a homebody who loves his crate (set up next to his foster mom’s work desk) and his own cozy bed. He’s learning to feel safe in his spaces, and his own little “zones” help him feel secure and loved. I love bringing my toys into my crate to play. Watch me here!Skills and TrainingBen is food-motivated and loves toys, which makes him a great student for learning new tricks! He’s shown he can let his people know when he needs a bathroom break by barking and running to the door. While he’s generally good with potty training, he may need a bit of patience in new environments as he adjusts. With a little time, he’ll find his routine and feel right at home.CompanionshipBen would do best in a home without small children since he’s still working on understanding personal space. Kids 6 and older are more his speed, and he enjoys their company when they’re calm and gentle. Ben is also happiest in a home where someone can spend time with him, especially as he settles in. He loves being part of the family and is truly content when he’s surrounded by his people.Love and AffectionIf you’re looking for a lovable companion who’s equal parts snuggler and entertainer, Ben is your guy. He’s ready to bring joy, laughs, and lots of love to his forever family. Apply to adopt him today—this sweet, silly boy is ready to become a cherished member of your home! To see me feeling some head-scratch bliss, click here! Please Note: This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. The disease was treated while in foster care.
