Story
Halloween litterGhost and Goblin were adopted as puppies! They recently came back to us at no fault of their own! Their owners couldn't handle them anymore. They are approaching 2 years old, so they are full of energy and need an energetic family to burn their energy. A fenced yard is okay, but they do dig, so they would need supervision outside, and preferably training! These are sweet boys and love to run and cuddle. If you would like to make these boys a part of your family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org/adopt THEIR ADOPTION FEE IS $170 (TOGETHER)The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    November 4, 2024, 9:21 am

Story
MEET GIDGET! She and her siblings came to us from southeastern KY as the remaining four in an accidental litter. They are ready for their forever homes and will make a wonderful addition to any family! We anticipate them to be medium size at full maturity. As far as their breed, your guess is as ours. We do believe them to be jack Russel or rat terrier mix. Gidget is a big snuggler and love to hide in a vest like. Baby kangaroo. If you're interested in adopting, our process begins with the submission of OUR online application at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com, or email us if you submitted an application within the last six months. We review and schedule meets (with approved applicants only) based on the order received. Keep in mind she is a young puppy with a life expectancy of up to 15 years. Our guiding principle for adoptions is to seek the right fit for family and for dog, including a home that can stay committed to her for life.

I'm a bit overwhelmed by this big world! Can you show me the ropes of living like a real dog? This little Jackshund Terrier is frightened of the big world he has been newly introduced to. He needs a patient owner who can help him come out of his shell and live the good dog life. He is a two year old Jack Russell/Dachshund mix that weighs around 25 pounds. Our adoption fee of $80 helps offset the cost of preparing our guests to enter a forever home! While expenses for each animal varies, the average healthy dog or cat receives $500 in medical treatment between intake and adoption. Variables in the cost are conditional based on guest needs with some topping out at thousands of dollars. Our adoption always includes: Basic health and wellness check by trained vet staffSpay/NeuterMicrochip with registrationUp-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies vaccine)Deworming, heartworm prevention and flea controlBasic Groom/BathFeline leukemia/FIV Combo testHeartworm testPost Adoption Benefits:Complementary veterinary wellness exam from AllPets Veterinary Clinic30-day free pet insurance policy from Trupanion30-day subscription to DOGtvLIFEtime Commitment from LIFEHouse for AnimalsLIFEtime Pet Companion Support from LIFEHouse for Animals A best friend for life!
