Story
Tami is a Terrier/Dachshund/Beagle mix, born 12/20/25 in Texas.  Welcome to rescue Tami!  This sweet girl had a rough start in life.  Her mom was dumped while pregnant and ended up giving birth outside.  She did her best to keep her puppies alive.  With little food and 7 babies, they were fighting just to survive.  The kind person that found them contacted a Texas rescue, who reached out to an Omaha rescue.  That's when Muddy Paws stepped in to help save the litter. Two incredible volunteers flew their private plane to Texas to bring the puppies safely to Omaha.  Tami and her siblings are now thriving in their foster homes! Tami loves other dogs and she is learning what cats are - so far, it's going okay!  After such a tough start, she is ready for a loving forever home!  She only weighs 9 pounds now, so will probably be less than 30 pounds when full grown.   The suggested adoption donation for Tami is $465, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2680741##

HOW TO ADOPT: This animal is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this animal, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.---- Loves to play and especially enjoys squeaky toys - Walks nicely on a leash - Foster family says he is allowed to roam the house freely when they're not home and usually just curls up for a nap - Likes to rearrange his blankets by himself and tuck himself in - Definitely has favorite people and forms strong bonds with his inner circle; does well when meeting strangers but may not want to be best friends right away - Foster family says he is potty trained and will go to the door when he needs to go outside, just remember any dog may need time to adjust to a new schedule and routine - Foster family says he can be a bit vocal when he's stressed - Will do best in a teens-and-up home - Tends to be socially awkward with other dogs (dog intro recommended)This pet is considered to be in their senior years and may enjoy calmer activities and environments. They may also have medical or behavior needs related to their age. Click here for tips for making a comfortable life for senior pets. All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 19.3 Age: 12yrs 1mths 3wks

Story
Sugar is just as sweet as her name!  She is a Terrier mix, born 9/23/24.  Sugar LOVES toys!  She's curious and playful.  She is going to need a lot of time to warm up to her people - so PATIENCE is a must - BUT her foster mom says after a couple weeks, she's become the cuddliest little sweetie and asks for tummy scratches like they're going out of style!  Sugar also loves running and playing with other dogs.  She's quick to make dog friends at all of her play dates.   Sugar needs a fenced yard to zoom around in.  We think it would be helpful for her to to have a confident dog sibling to show her the ropes.  It would also be beneficial for Sugar if her person is home most of the day and not gone for long hours.  Sugar usually uses a potty pad and is still learning to potty outside.  She will need someone with patience and dedication to help her master this skill.   If you're interested in meeting Sugar, please contact us or apply today! The suggested adoption donation for Sugar is $475, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Story
Daisy is a sweet, young pup with a heart full of love, but she’s had a rough start. Just under a year old, she was surrendered due to extreme separation anxiety and is going to need a little extra support at first. At the shelter, she has just started treatment for anxiety and will likely need continued care post-adoption.Daisy would thrive in a home where she can slowly learn structure and that being apart from her people is okay. This may include kennel training, extra exercise, and plenty of enrichment activities to help her build confidence and, hopefully, be weaned off her anxiety medication over time.Despite her struggles, Daisy is a loving, sweet girl who is ready to give all the affection she has to offer to the right person who is willing to help her along her journey. Our dog adoption fee is $150 and includes her spay, heartworm testing, up-to-date vaccinations and preventatives, and her microchip. You can apply at agcshelter.org/adopt-1 or stop in to meet Daisy and our other adoptables Tuesday–Saturday from 1pm–4pm.
