I am kind of shy and timid, especially at first but I am an easy going boy and will just curl up and hide when I need a break. I am good with other dogs, people, and cats. I am currently living with two toddlers who make me a little nervous but it’s because I am still trying to there them out. I would love a fenced yard and another confident doggy friend to show me the ropes! I am up to date on vaccines and will be neutered and microchipped soon by the rescue. Introducing Libby!Libby is a 26 pound, 8 month old Jack Russell Terrier/Pitbull (?) mix that was found as a stray and unfortunately, no one ever came looking for her. Libby was brought in extremely emaciated, full of parasites and scared of her new surroundings. She would slinky along the floor between your legs and look up at you with those big puppy dog eyes for reassurance. With lots of extra food and love from volunteers and staff Libby has began coming out of her shell. She is all tail/full body wags and just wants to be by your side, pleasing you! She loves toys and gleefully paraded her ball around for her photoshoot. Libby did well with meeting dogs and would benefit from a confident dog at home to show her the ropes as she is only about 8 months old! Her adoption fee is $235, which includes her vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, heartworm test, current flea/heartworm prevention, registered microchip, and spay!

Eddie has had a whirlwind last few months. Not the good kind either. After the death of his owner, he was surrendered to the shelter because no one else could care for him. Then he was adopted briefly but returned because the person was moving, after only a few weeks. Ugh is all we are going to say. Eddie is mini in size but full of spunk. He loves to watch the yard for activity and eat treats. He is a simple man. *Adoptions are walk-in 12-6 daily at 2741 S. Western Ave. Chicago, IL *The building is open 12-7 daily and adoptions end one hour before closing. All visitors 18 and older must have a government issued ID. *All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog to dog meet and greets for your current dog to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up to date rabies vaccination for your dog or dogs. *Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.

Taco is the best! He's full of so much life and so much energy. He's always up for going outside to play and loves when other dogs are around. His ideal scenario is having a backyard to run around in and having other dogs around to play with. He's incredibly social with other dogs and children. He's the greatest dog on earth to play fetch with. You can throw the tennis ball with him for hours and he'll bring it back to you each time (but for some reason wants you to take it out of his mouth lol). If you're someone who wants companionship or a dog that gives you an excuse to stay active each day, Taco's your guy. It breaks me that I can't keep Taco anymore, but I'm on the road 2-3 times a month for work and am usually distracted with work even when I'm home. It's not right and Taco deserves someone who can give him the time and attention he deserves. He's well trained, housebroken and listens well. (Note: We're in NYC)
