Story
Maggie was rescued in the Big Bend, TX area by my father in 2017. He lived off-grid with her roaming the land he owned. In 2022 my father became paralyzed and could no longer care for Maggie. In 2023 a friend brought Maggie into her apartment but she works 10 hours a day 7 days a week and Maggie is home alone all day. I got Maggie back to my home in November 2024 where we have multiple dogs and she loves the company and someone being home. But I have a special needs son and she is terrified of him so she hides in our closet when he is home. She can not live a stressed life like this and needs a home where she can feel free to roam.

Story
LOOKING FOR LOVE:  Approx. 13 years old / Approx. 19 lbs.  Hi, I’m Nitro!  My foster says that I’m a sweet and loyal senior companion who has the cutest white eyebrows and brown Yoda ears, a wiggle butt with an adorable nub tail, and a happy, curious, and silly personality. I was adopted for about 3 years but came back to Mostly Mutts due to being protective of my mom and biting the grandson. I don’t really recall the circumstances of that, but I have not shown that behavior in my foster home and my foster will be happy to talk to you about how great I’m doing in their home.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I have previously wanted to be an only dog as I showed resource guarding, but in my foster home I’m living with 2 larger dogs, and I’ve done just fine with them after a proper introduction.  I am mostly disinterested in them and don't want to play, but we coexist and go for walks together well, etc.  I also like the other senior foster dog since she just likes to nap nearby.  So, if you have a dog that sounds like this, we could meet and see how we do together.  I also don’t react to them on walks, I’m quite indifferent to seeing them from afar.  / No cats please. / No kids please due to the bite in my former home. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m very devoted, loving, and sweet to my people! I’ll do best in a home where there are not too many new people coming and going because it can take a little bit for me to warm up to new folks. But once I trust you, I will nudge you to keep petting me if you stop, climb into your lap to kiss your face, and follow you everywhere around the house. I am a huge lovebug!  When I lived at the MM shelter, I was very overwhelmed/stressed with the number of people I was exposed to each day, so I had a few favorite people and there were a few bites when others came up to us suddenly.  Again, I haven’t shown any of this in my foster home.  I have a bit more weakness in my back legs and find myself a bit more tired these days so look for me napping on the multiple dogs beds around my foster home.  / My energy level is around a 3-4 and a bit higher if there is food involved! I get SO excited for food and will perk up my ears, do my tippy-tappy dance, and wiggle my entire behind whenever I hear the slightest crinkle of any bag, so cute!                           • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am very food motivated which is great for training. I’m an expert at sitting, and I will offer a sit to you anytime I think you have treats. I will come when you shake a bag of treats. My foster mom is working with me on not jumping up and other commands like stay, etc. When I lived at the shelter, I knew more commands, but I’m happy with the ones I remember now and if you would like to work on more with me, we can do that. / I've not loved the crate in the past, but I do great in a secure pen or a small room when you need to leave me alone. / I have good potty manners in my foster home on a schedule. During the day I can hold it for up to 4 hours, and then at night I hold it all night for 8 hours!    • LIKES/DISLIKES:  My two favorite things are eating food and being petted by my people. I also love short trots around the yard, bones, car rides, and fuzzy blankets! I enjoy looking out windows and rolling around in the grass outside too. I have a great nose and love to sniff around in the yard or play with puzzle toys inside.  I am curious about sights, sounds, and smells on my walks in the neighborhood or at the park with my foster.  My foster takes me out in a dog stroller so I can still have great adventures without walking too far. / I don’t like meeting people too quickly, so it is best to give me a little time to get to know you. Let me come to you instead of reaching for me. I will also bark at loud cars that pass by on walks, though I don’t bark much otherwise. I can't do stairs that well. I can manage a few, but if there is an entire flight of stairs, you'll have to pick me up which I have been fine with in my foster home. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love and attention too. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I have a collapsing trachea so I should take shorter walks, led with a harness not a collar.  I should also not be walked much when it’s hot outside - just to go to the potty or to a cool stream. I’ve been diagnosed with Cushing’s. I’ll need annual testing for Cushing’s, and I had that in Feb. 2024.  I am also being monitored for my liver function.  I take 3 medications, all quite easily for my foster! Just ask about these.  If you’re looking for a devoted dog and have a nice quiet home environment, we could be a good match!  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  November 3, 2024, 8:07 am

Story
A BUNDLE OF FUN & JOY:  Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 26 lbs. Hi, my name’s Jacob!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control.  I’m so glad to be in a safe, loving place where I am getting all the love and attention I deserve while waiting for my furever family to find me.  If you are looking for a fun, furry family member, come meet me soon! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met some dogs recently at Mostly Mutts and although I didn’t want to play with them, I also didn’t show any aggression.  I also did not react to the dogs I saw on a day trip at the park.  So, if you have a nice dog at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals.  / Cats unknown. / I haven’t officially met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, however I was sweet with two boys, around ages 5 and 12 that I met at the park on a day trip.  If you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a friendly fellow who is as sweet and smart as I am handsome.  A volunteer I went on a day trip with described me as ‘the perfect package’!  I will ask to be petted and love head/ear rubs.  Though shy and calm for my shelter bath and nail trim, I have a playfulness that is typical of my fun JRT breed. / My energy level is 4-6+. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I am learning lots of great commands with my trainer.  So far, I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’ and ‘leave it’ commands.  I’m working with my trainer on curbing my leg mounting behavior, so our walks to be fun for us both. This is improving, though someone with mobility issues should not walk me right now.  I bet you can teach me even more, as I am a smart guy! / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I absolutely love toys, so let’s have lots of great play sessions together.  I like riding in the car and I stayed calm in the backseat on the way to the park for a day trip.  I’m always happy to be with my people and look forward to being included in all the fun goings-on as part of the family in my new home. / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a great home with a loving furever family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 8, 2024, 8:42 am

A SWEET & FUN FRIEND:  Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 16 lbs.  Hi, my name is Darcey!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control with another dog and I’m happy to be here!  I was a bit nervous initially, but I am settling in as I realize I am in a safe place with lots of folks who love me and want to see me find my furever family.  I’m ready to do that now! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I came to Mostly Mutts with another dog – though I didn’t like the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts and recently, I’ve not really even cared for walking with the dog I came in with.  So, it doesn’t look great – but if you have another dog, we could meet along with a trainer and see if we can be pals. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over or that may fall on me.    • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  The volunteers took things slowly with me initially and now my wonderful nature has blossomed!  I’m described as fun, playful and super sweet and I know you will love my friendly nature.  I’m alert to my surroundings and am a barker, so best no apartment or condo-type home please.  I was a well-mannered little girl for my bath and did great for my nail trim, too. / My energy level is 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I look forward to learning lots of great commands with my trainer.  I’ve mastered the ‘sit’ command so far.  Check back soon to see my progress. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I've had a few accidents on the shelter schedule, so please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  Playtime is always fun, and I really like for the volunteers to bring out the toys.  I’m a good walker, so I hope there are lots of walks in our future.  I’m ready to be your fun companion! / Other than showing reactiveness to other dogs I see when out and about, I can’t think of any dislikes, though  I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I am looking for a loving home with a wonderful family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 6, 2024, 9:00 am

Story
A SWEET & ACTIVE FRIEND:  Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 15 lbs.  Hello – I’m Deeana!  I came to Mostly Mutts with another dog from animal control.  I’ve enjoyed the love and care I have received from the volunteers and even spent a day in a great short break foster home recently.  I’m now ready to find my new furever home and live the good life all doggies deserve.  Come meet me soon!   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I came in with another dog but didn’t really like the other dogs I met at the shelter; however, I recently visited a short break foster home and did well playing with the dog in that home that was a Border Collie/Husky mix.  So, if you have a nice dog at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / The cat in my short break foster home stressed me out, and I chased them.  Even when they were in a different room from me, I was not comfortable knowing they were around, so I should not live with cats. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over or that may fall on me.      • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  You will love my sweet and fun personality!  I’m a playful and active girl who has been friendly with all the people I’ve met.  A well-adjusted doggie, I settled in quickly in the home that I visited.  Even though I was a bit afraid of the bath sprayer for my first bath at Mostly Mutts, I did great for my bath and nail trim. / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I look forward to learning lots of great commands with my trainer.  I know the ‘sit’ command thus far, and I can’t wait to learn even more. Check back soon to see my progress. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts, though it’s not my favorite place. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, with just a few accidents.  I also did well in the home I briefly visited.  Hopefully that will be the case in my new home too. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love to play with toys when the volunteers bring those out, and they were great fun in my short break foster home, too.  I also love my walks and look forward to going on lots of them with my new family.  Car rides?  I’m all in!  Let’s make great memories together. / Other than cats, I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I am looking for a home where I will be a much-loved family member!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 6, 2024, 9:22 am

A WONDERFUL & BUSY LITTLE GUY:  Approx. 2 years old / Approx. 15 lbs.  Hello – I’m Stevie, a fun little pistol who Mostly Mutts rescued from animal control.  The volunteers are taking great care of me on the journey to my new home.  Come meet me soon and see if I am your new furry family member!   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them.  I became a vocal player once play engaged, so if you have a dog that won’t mind that, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over or that may fall on me.      • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am an adorable guy who has a lot of fun energy.  Sweet and friendly, I am ready to be a great companion.  I was very patient for my shelter bath and nail trim – so I got a “good boy” for that.  The MM photographer enjoyed our photo session and called me ‘bold, smart and fun’.  I bring a lot to the table for my new family, and I will reward you with lots of great memories. / My energy level is 6-8, so plan on being active with me!   • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:   I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I look forward to learning lots of great commands with my trainer.  Check back soon to see what I have mastered. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home too. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  As active as I am, you KNOW I love toys, so let’s have some fun with those!  Getting lots of love and attention from people makes me a happy guy as well. / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. Story
A SWEET SENIOR GUY:  Approx. 10 years old / Approx. 26 lbs.  Hi, my name is Meeko!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and have been soaking up the love from the dedicated volunteers ever since!  I can’t remember how I ended up at animal control, but I’m thrilled to get a new chance to find a loving home and family – hopefully soon! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and did not like them, so I want to be your only dog. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m described as a sweet, gentle, fun-natured and playful guy.  That’s right, I still have a spring in my step at 10 years old!  I’m not shy and can be vocal when I want your attention, so condo or apartment living would likely not be a good fit for me.  I was also not shy about showing my elation, with grateful sighs of appreciation during my shelter bath.  I am a smart and friendly guy who is sure to bring joy to my new home! / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I have already shown that I know several commands: ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’ and ‘come’.  I bet you can teach me even more! / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My potty habits have been pretty good on the shelter schedule, though I occasionally have a larger accident, so just ask how this has been going. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like to spend time with the volunteers and have fun play sessions with them and it’s always great when they bring out the toys!  You are not likely to find a bigger treat fan than me, either.  Another thing I enjoy is peanut butter filled Kongs and I enjoy going for walks and surveying my world. / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I came in with some broken teeth and needed a good dental cleaning when I arrived and thankfully MM has done that for me.  I’ve got a skin tag on my back leg, but it doesn’t bother me, and I hope you won’t mind it either.   I am looking for a wonderful furever home with a loving family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 19, 2024, 7:05 am
