Story
Cash lives for the short, sweet breaks from shelter life - riding in the backseat of the car, going through the DQ drive-thru for a cup of whipped cream, sitting on a bench in a park together, feeling the sun and the breeze on your faces. Those trips, and the one-on-one time he gets with his favorite humans on our team, are the thread of happiness in Cash's life that keep him going. But, we know it's hard for him to see us say good night and head home at the end of the day, while his "home is the shelter. At 6, Cash Money has been at PAWS for most of his life, FIVE YEARS, except for a brief one-month break in an adoptive home. Cash is one of our longtime front office dogs, and he's also a bit of a self-appointment supervisor, giving us feedback on when we're talking too loudly or coming up short on our treat-feeding duties. He is a little man with a brash, sometimes rough exterior. But, inside, Cash is just a little boy dying to be loved. He has friends, but he wants his own people, his own home. The real deal. The kind of love and acceptance we all crave. Laura, our shelter manager, is Cash's buddy. She writes, "Cash is smart and treat motivated. He's my guardian and he takes his job too seriously, but he will let me do most anything with him because we've established a lot of mutual trust, respect and love. He is such a cuddle bug and is actually so very affectionate. He loves plush toys and is a master of interactive toys and doggie IQ tests. If he is not getting enough attention, he will let you know, trust us. Cash needs an adult home because little ones give him the heebie-jeebies, and he's a bit of a resource guarder, mostly with food. We're working on that. He has some dog friends but can be selective and prefers a low key, quieter canine friend who allows him to do the talking.

Story
Dollar was purchased from a Jack Russell farm. He’s an amazing dog. He’s not aggressive, house trained, protective of kids, and he’s will not just jump up on you if you tell him no. I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and can no longer care for Dollar. I’m now allergic to the pet dander, not able to groom or care for him in anyway at all. Which really is very sad and not fair to Dollar. Dollar needs to go to a family that will take care of him and love him. He loves doing zoomies. He loves to be loved on. Please save Dollar. I can no longer give him his needs at all.

Story
LOOKING FOR A LOVING HOSPICE HOME:  Approx. 13 years old / Approx. 19 lbs.  Hi, I’m Nitro!  My foster says that I’m a sweet and loyal senior companion who has the cutest white eyebrows and brown Yoda ears, a wiggle butt with an adorable nub tail, and a happy, curious, and silly personality. I was adopted for about 3 years but came back to Mostly Mutts due to being protective of my mom and biting the grandson. I don’t really recall the circumstances of that, but I have not shown that behavior in my foster home and my foster will be happy to talk to you about how great I’m doing in their home.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I have previously wanted to be an only dog as I showed resource guarding, but in my foster home I’m living with 2 calm larger dogs, and I’ve done well with them after a proper introduction.  As my health declines, I should only be with 1 or maybe 2 other dogs that are low energy, calm, and will not knock me over or sniff me too much. So, if you have a dog that sounds like this, we could meet and see how we do together.  I love human attention, so I wouldn't mind being your only dog either. / No cats please. / No kids please due to the bite in my former home. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m very devoted, loving, and sweet to my people! I’ll do best in a home where there are not too many new people coming and going because it can take a little bit for me to warm up to new folks. But once I trust you, I will nudge you to keep petting me if you stop, climb into your lap to kiss your face, and follow you everywhere around the house. I am a huge lovebug!  When I lived at the MM shelter, I was very overwhelmed/stressed with the number of people I was exposed to each day, so I had a few favorite people and there were a few bites when others came up to us suddenly.  Again, I haven’t shown any of this in my foster home.  I have a bit more weakness in my back legs and find myself a bit more tired these days so please have multiple dogs beds around the home for me to nap in.  I’m looking for a peaceful, loving and patient home where I can rest and be pampered during my final years or months – whichever it will be. / My energy level is 3-4 and a bit higher if there is food involved! I get SO excited for food and will perk up my ears, do my tippy-tappy dance as best I can, and wiggle my entire behind whenever I hear the slightest crinkle of any bag, so cute!                           • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am very food motivated and am an expert at sitting, and I will offer a sit to you anytime I think you have treats. I will come when you shake a bag of treats. My foster mom is working with me on not jumping up and the stay command. When I lived at the shelter, I knew more commands, but I’m happy with the ones I remember now, and I don’t worry about the others. / I've not loved the crate in the past, but I do great in a secure pen or a small room when you need to leave me alone. / I have good potty manners in my foster home on a schedule. During the day I can hold it up to 4 hours, and at night I hold it all night for 8 hours!     • LIKES/DISLIKES:  My two favorite things are eating food and being petted by my people. I also love short trots around the yard, bones, car rides, and fuzzy blankets! I enjoy looking out windows and rolling around in the grass too. I have a great nose and love to sniff around in the yard or play with puzzle toys inside.  I am curious about sights, sounds, and smells on my walks in the neighborhood or at the park with my foster.  My foster takes me out in a dog stroller so I can still have great adventures without walking too far. / I don’t like meeting people too quickly, so it is best to give me a little time to get to know you. Let me come to you instead of reaching for me. I will also bark at loud cars that pass by on walks, though I don’t bark much otherwise. I can't do stairs that well. I can manage a few, but if there is an entire flight of stairs, you'll have to pick me up which I have been fine with in my foster home. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love and attention, too. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I have a collapsing trachea so I should take shorter walks, led with a harness not a collar.  I should also not be walked much when it’s hot outside - just to go to the potty or to a cool stream. I’ve been diagnosed with Cushing’s. I’ll need annual testing for Cushing’s, and I had that in Feb. 2024, so that test is coming up again.  I am also being monitored for my liver function.  I several medications, all quite easily for my foster! Just ask about these.  If you’re looking for a devoted dog and have a nice peaceful home environment and want to give an old dog a wonderful end of life type home, we could be a good match!  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  January 25, 2025, 8:59 am
