Story
Meet Colby Jack! Colby is a happy 4 year old Jack RussellBoxer mix. Colby adores being with his people especially when he gets lots of cuddles. He leans into your leg when he's getting lovies and shows you his big smile! Colby enjoys hanging out with laid back dogs. He and his foster sister, Elly, enjoy rambling around the backyard finding new things to sniff.  He weighs approximately 35lbs which is a good, manageable size for your lap!. He loves to play with humans but may be a bit too playful for toddlers or younger children. He’s crate trained but it is not his favorite place to be. He walks well on a leash and would make a great hiking or running buddy. Colby spent the first year of his life on a chain and has really blossomed into a very loving dog who craves attention. We think Colby would do best with a family that doesn't live in a congested area with lots of noise and has another dog to play with. He doesn't care for delivery trucks entering his domain or lots of strangers. Colby is very smart but craves attention and stong leadership, He really needs a strong pack leader to help him along his journey. . He passed his professional obedience training with flying colors so he already knows the basics. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, and microchipped. Colby is available for adoption at www.dirtroaddoggiesrescue.org         ##1087310##

Jack was taken to boarding in April but after many excuses, his family never showed back up… Jack, the black and white charmer, might not be fond of cats, but he makes up for it with his amiable nature towards other dogs and his affectionate demeanor towards people.

Story
Meet Honey Honey was named because she is as sweet as Honey! This young pup is an absolute love! Honey was at risk of euthanasia due to over-crowding. We rescued Honey, her mate Scout and another beauty named Dot. They are all safe at our no-kill shelter. We fell in love with Honey from the moment we saw her interactions with people, other dogs, and kitties! She loves them all. Honey is a gorgeous mixed breed – maybe Boston, maybe Jack Russell, it’s so hard to know. Honey is on the small side at eight months she’s only 31 lbs. She may top out at 35 lbs, but she is small and compact. She has a gorgeous fawn colored short coat, tall-standing ears, an alert and intelligent face and an athletic physique. She is stunning! Honey is friendly, affectionate, silly, fun-loving, calm, quiet, gentle, athletic, smart and sooooo sweet. Honey LOVES people, dogs and kitties. Every interaction is fun and she has an open and sociable personality. She walks well on a leash. She loves hiking, and playing with toys. Honey loves her mate Scout and will be adopted with her. Honey likes to travel and hike. She’d do great for those adventures out to wineries and cafes. She’ll love to curl up with her people on a comfy couch or a sunny porch. Hard to believe that someone let Honey go, because she is a keeper. We are smitten with this girl and know that you will be too. If interested in Honey and Scout, please submit a dog application online at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to let us know to be on the lookout. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Meet Oreo Oreo is a wonderful boy. He came in with his mate Smokey. He was surrendered when his mama went into a nursing home and he had no one to care for him. Oreo is pawfect. He is sweet, fun, affectionate, out-going, quiet, friendly, happy, and so adorable. He’s what we call a low-rider. He looks to be a Jack Russell mix, with short legs and a long body. He’s 4.5 years old and ready to go home. Oreo is house-trained, crate-trained, he loves people and kids, dogs and we can test for cats. He travels well in a car, loves going to events and meeting people. He welcomes affection and attention and always has the biggest smile on his face. Oreo loves to play. He is well-mannered and does great in a home. He’s the kind of dog you can take anywhere. He is a wonderful companion. He’ll do great with an active family or with a person or who wants an easy-going companion to share their heart and home with. Oreo is exceptional. He’d love to go home with Smokey, but the boys can be separated if necessary. Oreo was well taken care of and loved his whole life. Come get this boy and give him a second chance. If interested in Oreo, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Story
JosieBreed: Jack Russel TerrierFemaleDOB: 1/10/19Adoption Fee: $200Josie is a very sweet girl, who loves a snuggle and belly rubs. She was abandoned outside as a puppy, and has real anxiety about being outside. It is pretty sad to see, but we’re working through it. Inside though, she is a joyful dog that loves to lay by your side, play with toys, and is good with calmer dogs. She has a funny personality, and even likes to do a little dance for her supper. She understands sit, stay, shake, lay down, and is good on a leash. Josie is obviously a very smart dog, but the fear of going outside is her struggle in life, and as such, will need continued support in poty training. This is Josie's second time at the rescue. She has been in a foster home since October, where they are working to help her and love her, but she'll need someone to pick up where they leave off. She needs a patient and understanding adopter, who is able to work with her in a calm and loving environment. She really is a sweetheart, but so scared of being outside. This special dog needs a special someone to show her the way. Please read the animal bios completely before requesting additional information as we do our best to answer the most frequently ask questions in these bios. In order to adopt one of our animals an application must be submitted and approved. You can find these applications by going to http://humanemorgan.org/index.php?page=adoption ABOUT ADOPTING FROM THE HSMC: The shelter address is 1170 Fairground Rd. Madison, GA 30650. For more information on any of our pets, please feel free to email us at INFO@HUMANEMORGAN.ORG give us a call at 706-343-9977. All dogs are heartworm negative, current on vaccines/dewormings, and microchipped. All cats are FeLv/FIV negative, current on vaccines/dewormings, and microchipped. We are open 10am-5pm Monday-Saturday, we schedule our last adoption at 4pm everyday to allow our staff enough time to feed and walk dogs. We are an animal shelter and therefore are not able to individually potty train our residents. Many adult dogs do arrive “house broken” however due to animal behavior any change in environment will make an emotional impact on the animals and therefore initiate unwanted behaviors during the acclamation period. Please keep this in mind. Puppies do not have the biological maturity to maintain absolute bladder or bowel control and will require a certain degree of potty training and house breaking. Please consider the time and commitment it takes to provide the necessary building blocks for these special babies, prior to submitting your application. If you have any questions please email us at info@humanemorgan.org and provide name of the animal you are interested in, in the subject line. Thank you, HSMC Staff ADOPTION FEES Adoption Fees may change without notice.
