He will continue to grow and mature, and could be a small to medium sized dog. Pepsi is dog and cat friendly - he currently resides with 3 other dogs and cat in his foster home and loves to play with them! He is currently working on his crate training and potty training, and has picked up on his basic commands. Like any young puppy, Pepsi does have a high energy level and will need a fenced yard where he can spend his days running and playing. He would also benefit from another playful pup in his forever home. Pepsi came to BarkVille Dog Rescue after spending time at an overcrowded shelter, and it was evident that he had not lived a great life previously. Cash lives for the short, sweet breaks from shelter life - riding in the backseat of the car, going through the DQ drive-thru for a cup of whipped cream, sitting on a bench in a park together, feeling the sun and the breeze on your faces. Those trips, and the one-on-one time he gets with his favorite humans on our team, are the thread of happiness in Cash's life that keep him going. But, we know it's hard for him to see us say good night and head home at the end of the day, while his "home is the shelter. At 6, Cash Money has been at PAWS for most of his life, FIVE YEARS, except for a brief one-month break in an adoptive home. Cash is one of our longtime front office dogs, and he's also a bit of a self-appointment supervisor, giving us feedback on when we're talking too loudly or coming up short on our treat-feeding duties. He is a little man with a brash, sometimes rough exterior. But, inside, Cash is just a little boy dying to be loved. He has friends, but he wants his own people, his own home. The real deal. The kind of love and acceptance we all crave. Laura, our shelter manager, is Cash's buddy. She writes, "Cash is smart and treat motivated. He's my guardian and he takes his job too seriously, but he will let me do most anything with him because we've established a lot of mutual trust, respect and love. He is such a cuddle bug and is actually so very affectionate. He loves plush toys and is a master of interactive toys and doggie IQ tests. If he is not getting enough attention, he will let you know, trust us. Cash needs an adult home because little ones give him the heebie-jeebies, and he's a bit of a resource guarder, mostly with food. We're working on that. Sugar Plum is an approximately 8-9 month-old Hound mix. She was apparently hit by a car when she was younger but was not treated. After being rescued, her leg needed to be amputated due to the damage, but this little girl is doing great. Based on her behavior now, you can see how uncomfortable she must have been. Sugar Plum was too thin when rescued, but she is now 32 pounds, a healthy weight. She loves to take walks and play (you wouldn't know she is a tripod). Sugar is very much a big puppy and is making up for her lost puppyhood. She’s very smart and sweet but had little to no prior training. But now, she is house-trained and crate-trained, though she isn't a fan of the crate. She is also learning to walk on a leash and is still working on that. She now knows commands like sit, down, paw, and, if lucky, a short stay. She loves meeting new people and car rides. Sugar Plum does like children, but because of her size, energy, and being a big puppy, only older children should be considered. Sugar is a good watchdog. Hence, she’ll bark at anything she hears, and, sometimes, when she’s had enough crate time. So no apartments or condos for her. Her ideal home will be with an active family, where she can take long walks and has a fenced yard. She also loves to lie in the sun and would love to have another dog playmate. She wants to play with other dogs so badly, but she is still learning how to play. She was able to get her foster mom's grumpy, 12-year-old pup to play with her, There is also some separation anxiety, so another dog would be helpful. She also needs an adopter who has dog experience and understands she needs further training and patience. She’s truly a great dog with a lot of good qualities who just needs someone to help her grow up. Loyal, feisty 17-lb. Rocky is eager to please, a super snuggle buddy, and very motivated by treats and affection. This rat terrier/Chihuahua mix LOVES to run in the yard, chase his toys, and take long leashed walks. He is also smart and was a star student in his recent training class! He knows many verbal cues like sit, lie down, off, and place. When he needs recharging, he'll seek you out for some cuddling. He is reliably house-trained, rides well in the car, and has nice house manners. Anxiety about new people and larger dogs, however, is a challenge. They make Rocky bark and appear 'on edge.' A stranger ignoring these signals could get nipped. It has happened before. Rocky can be charming and affectionate and would truly like making new friends, but any potential friend must first slowly earn his trust. And while he generally gets along with dogs his size or smaller, his discomfort around bigger dogs could cause a scuffle if he's not monitored. On walks he ignores calm dogs passing by but lunges and barks at big, energetic ones. Because cats fascinate him and he's driven to chase them, kitties wouldn't make good housemates. Now 5 years old, Rocky yearns for more space to run, fewer stressors, and lots of positive interaction with his trusted humans. His idea of heaven is a fenced yard and no other animals competing for resources or your attention.
