Story
*I'm located in Georgia but can be transported* Name: Roxy Breed: Jack Russell Terrier Mix Sex/Age/Weight: Female/8 years old/10lbs Vetting: Up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Please see the special notes regarding Roxy's cancer diagnosis. House-trained/Crate-trained: I am fully house-trained and crate-trained, although my foster parents leave me out of the crate when they are not around. I spend most of my time sleeping anyways. Dogs/Cats/Children: I would prefer to be the only dog in the home. I also don’t like cats very much. I have never been around children inside a home but I have met a couple on walks and I seem to like them. Energy Level: Low energy but I enjoy going on short walks. Before FAR/My History: Before coming to FAR, I was surrendered due to a cancerous mass. Since then, I have undergone three surgeries to remove the masses. The vet mentioned that there is still a possibility that the cancer may have spread to other parts of my body. There is also a possibility that the cancerous masses that were removed will come back. The type of cancer I have is an aggressive form of doggy breast cancer. However, I have been doing well and have been gaining weight under the care of my foster parents. Things I like: Cuddles, treats, and getting love. Things I don’t like: Loud noises. Ideal Family/Home: I am a senior dog with special needs, but I am still a loving and sweet companion. I am hoping to find a peaceful and comfortable place to spend my golden years. Special Notes: Roxy is a senior dog with special needs, and due to her cancer diagnosis may require extensive medical care. Story
Pebbles is approx. 3 years old and weighs 9 pounds. Our best guess is that she is Jack Russell and chihuahua mix. What we do know is she is a long legged love bug! She loves to play with her fellow fosters and she is quite fond of her boyfriend, Donald. Those 2 can often be found snuggled up together, napping. Pebbles and her parents were rescued from a not so good situation. So, she is still working on her house training. She does do pretty well with the pee pads. She will just need patience and consistency to get her fully trained. WE DO NOT HAVE CATS. THEREFORE WE DO NOT KNOW CAT COMPATIBILITY. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND: OUR PETS ARE SHELTER PETS. WE HAVE VERY LITTLE, IF ANY, INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR PAST. PLEASE BE COMMITTED AND PREPARED TO TRAIN/RETRAIN YOUR NEW PET. REMEMBER, THEY MUST HAVE TIME TO DECOMPRESS. If you have not heard of the 333 Rule, please Google it. If you are interested in making this pup part of your family, please email us. Please give a brief description of your home, family and what you are looking for in a new furry family member. You may include anything else you think will move you to the top of the adoption list. We are located in Hollywood, SC. If you are not local to the area, we can refer you to a transport company. This company is not affiliated with the Rescue and will charge a separate fee.

Story
Huckleberry is all energy from morning till night. He needs a very active family without small children. He is bossy, so he would do best as an only dog. He is very affectionate, but because he lived his first three years on a chain, he is still learning to play. He loves stuffed animals and blankets, and is doing well on his crate training. We would like to find him a family that understands the Jack Russell breed.

Story
Howdy, everyone! Dolly here. I’m an outgoing girl who is good with most dogs and people. I was just spayed Oct. 8, and am now UTD on my shots, microchipped, and ready to roll after recovery. I am a sweet girl about 2 years old and am the “beige version” of my already-adopted sister, Penny (now Cookie). I am learning to walk on a leash and am really getting the hang of it. Before, I would just lie there like a brick and stare at you. Now I know it means we’re going on adventures! Woohoo! As with all of the rescues here, I will require a secure, above-ground fenced yard to keep me safe. https://www.jackrusselladoptions.org/adopt-a-dog/

Story
Hi, everyone. I’m Katie and I’m a special girl! I am beautiful and happy to be with my favorite people but very independent as far as most human society is concerned. I have come a long way since I arrived here at rescue in 2023. I came from the same backyard breeder as Angel and her puppies (Grace and Blackberry), but luckily I escaped the terrible genetic defect that shortened little Blackberry’s life. I will probably never be a true cuddle pup, but I’m good with other dogs, I love my porch life and my Dogloo and I definitely enjoy Benebones to the fullest! I’m not a fan of leash walking — and yes, they are working on that with me, but so far I’m “winning.” As you know, there’s stubbornness and then there’s JRT stubborn. 😉 When you look in my eyes, you see that I was not given the life I should have had and now that it is available, I sometimes don’t quite believe in it. I’m about 3 years, old, UTD on my shots, microchipped, and, most importantly, spayed! I will make a great quiet companion … well, unless the delivery truck arrives! I would do best in a house without small children as I have never been around them and they might make me uncomfortable. As with all of the rescues here, I will need a secure, above-ground fence to keep me safe. https://www.jackrusselladoptions.org/adopt-a-dog/

Story
Cash lives for the short, sweet breaks from shelter life - riding in the backseat of the car, going through the DQ drive-thru for a cup of whipped cream, sitting on a bench in a park together, feeling the sun and the breeze on your faces. Those trips, and the one-on-one time he gets with his favorite humans on our team, are the thread of happiness in Cash's life that keep him going. But, we know it's hard for him to see us say good night and head home at the end of the day, while his "home is the shelter. At 6, Cash Money has been at PAWS for most of his life, FIVE YEARS, except for a brief one-month break in an adoptive home. Cash is one of our longtime front office dogs, and he's also a bit of a self-appointment supervisor, giving us feedback on when we're talking too loudly or coming up short on our treat-feeding duties. He is a little man with a brash, sometimes rough exterior. But, inside, Cash is just a little boy dying to be loved. He has friends, but he wants his own people, his own home. The real deal. The kind of love and acceptance we all crave. Laura, our shelter manager, is Cash's buddy. She writes, "Cash is smart and treat motivated. He's my guardian and he takes his job too seriously, but he will let me do most anything with him because we've established a lot of mutual trust, respect and love. He is such a cuddle bug and is actually so very affectionate. He loves plush toys and is a master of interactive toys and doggie IQ tests. If he is not getting enough attention, he will let you know, trust us. Cash needs an adult home because little ones give him the heebie-jeebies, and he's a bit of a resource guarder, mostly with food. We're working on that. He has some dog friends but can be selective and prefers a low key, quieter canine friend who allows him to do the talking.
