Story
Bowie is a 20lb Terrier mix (Vet thinks Jack Russell mix) about 2-3 yrs old looking for someone very patient. He was abused and then we believe he was let out to fend for himself and from what we see, he had a tough time on the streets by himself. When Bowie first came to us as a stray, we did everything we could to reunite him with his family, he was posted on over 50 social media sites, he was registered with every shelter within 50 miles just in case his family called the shelters looking for him. No one ever came forward. He has gone from a scared, growling, wanting to bite if you got near him little boy, to now being a lot more socialized, trusting us, sitting on our laps, wanting to play and just being a great rescue. It will take time for him to trust you, but once he does he is your best friend. Bowie gets along with our rescues here but we do notice that he gets a little attitude when we are showing the other pups attention. He really is just looking for attention and he is picky about who he shares that attention with. He also has some food aggression with other dogs, we can take his food away with no issues but he growls if any other dog tries to get near his food. We solve that by feeding him in another room and we do not keep food down in the house. He needs the perfect family to show him lots of love and attention and he will be the greatest companion pup to that family! Adoption fee $400 (We prefer that he is an only dog and all attention goes to him) He loves unconditionally once he trusts you.

Story
This is Buttercup. She is a 15 year old Jack Russell mix. She has been with us since a puppy. Our lives have changed a lot in the last year or so and time/attention have become a real issue. We decided as a family that Buttercup seems to have some time left to enjoy life (you would never guess that she is 15 years old) and that we are not giving her the attention that she once had and deserves. She is an extremely owner-loyal dog. In most of our children's photos through the years, there she is in one corner or another of the photo just watching over. She deserves to enjoy and be enjoyed. I think someone who can give her attention would truly enjoy her loyal companionship. She needs more people time, more walks, a little more of everything. As difficult of a decision as this is, I am doing what I feel and hope will be the best for her. She is crate trained. She also lived most of her life with another small dog.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bear Pup is a sweet Jack Russell Terrier mix, full of puppy enthusiasm wagging her tail constantly! She is very intelligent and loves attention! At six months old, Bear enjoys learning new things, playing ball, getting belly rubs, and giving lots of love. She likes the fetch game A LOT and will play fetch all day if given the opportunity (she brings the ball back every time). Bar would love having a fenced yard to run and play ball in, or a large indoor space with lots of toys accompanied by outdoor walks. Her favorite activities are holding or running after her ball, squeaking toys, and "shaking" her squirrel stuffy. But as soon as someone sits down in a chair, Bear changes her thought-process and jumps up to be next to him/her and lays calmly cuddling with that person. Bear has helped around the foster house…. Laundry = When getting a load of clothes from the dryer a sock was dropped. Bear picked it up and carried it in her mouth as she followed the person to the bedroom. Cleaning = Bear put her toy ball in her safe location and then to her surprise that room door was closed. When the door opened again (hours later) she remembered to crawl under the bed and got her ball. Sweeping = Because Bear wants to be wherever humans are she walked beside the Swifter pointing out to her foster if she saw a crumb. Bear would be fine living as an only dog or with another dog. Before coming to 4 Lucky Dogs she lived in a house with her littermates and at her foster home she lives with two dogs so is used to doing dog things with them. Bear loves people especially kids so she would also be ok having all of her owners’ concentration directed at her.   She is new to wearing a collar and being on a leash so is experiencing for the first time how to walk with them on. The adopter will need to continue to teach her this skill. She takes verbal correction easily such as firm tones. Bear does not bark however she is vocal with dainty, subtle whines. Bear still needs one more set of shots and to be spayed before adoption can be considered as final. She can go to her permanent home now, but the adopter must be willing to take Bear to one of the rescue’s veterinary clinics in Riverview, Orlando, St. Petersburg, or Sarasota for these remaining vet needs. Bear’s adoption fee is $620 and covers all shots including rabies, dewormer, microchip, and spay (which will take place after she is in the adopter’s home but paid for by 4LD). The average lifespan for this breed is 15 years. Therefore, Bear’s adopter will need to be prepared to care for her for around 14 more years so she will not have to move to a different home. She is currently being fostered in the Plant City area. ***We are a foster-based rescue with no shelter or facility to view our dogs, and our address is a mailing address only. Please be patient as we are an all-volunteer rescue, and our rescue dogs are in various loving foster homes throughout West-Central Florida. As a general rule we try to limit our adoptions to within the state of FL. If interested in one of our dogs, please fill out a foster or adoption application at www.4luckydogs.org, and we will contact you by phone/text if we feel your application is the best fit out of the ones received.***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 26, 2025, 10:50 am
