If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $500   Tricycle is a 2 year old Jack Russell Terrier mix who is rolling his three wheels on a trail leading straight to your heart! Tricycle was rescued from a hoarding situation with his brothers, Unicycle and Bicycle. We promised to find these amazing pups the best forever homes and after inflating their tires and giving them some TLC, we were ready to hit the trails! Tricycle weighs 15 pounds and has that perfect JRT body for those who know and love the breed. If you’re ready for a new companion to take on life with, come on down to the DPS bike shop and meet Tricycle!        Tricycle is like a caterpillar: we know that inside of him is a gorgeous butterfly just waiting to unfurl his wings and fly! Tricycle came to us very scared of the world around him as it hadn’t been so kind to him. We gave him the time he needed to decompress and could tell he knew life was only going to get better from there. Fast forward a few days, Tricycle was getting comfortable and started giving some puppy kisses to his foster mom. He’s even started figuring out how amazing a good long belly rub can be and his little tail wags when he sees his treats. We’ve seen him gain bravery as the days pass by which is just the most rewarding aspect of rescue in the world. Tricycle even found out how amazing being cuddled is and he will sit by your side on the couch quietly as he soaks up your love. Tricycle is a loving guy who just wants to show you how much potential he has if you give him the chance. Once you earn his trust, you will be rewarded with a lifetime of devotion. Tricycle is super smart as well as any good JRT is and he’s perceptive too! One day he saw his canine foster sibling perform for a treat and the next day he was doing his best to mirror the behavior for the reward. What a genius we have on our hands! Tricycle can’t wait to pedal his way into your heart and never leave again!  Tricycle starts his morning when his foster mom starts the coffee pot, around 6 AM. He heads out for a potty session before returning to his pen for breakfast. Once he’s finished eating, he gets a cuddle session before his foster mom heads to work. During the day, Tricycle snoozes off and on in his various plush beds. He loves to sunbathe and is often found sleeping on his back as he soaks up the sun. Once his foster mom comes home, he goes out on a walk to stretch his legs and sniff. Dinner is served around 6 PM followed by some TV watching on the couch. He goes out for one last potty before going back into his pen around 11 PM.  Tricycle has always lived with other dogs and would benefit from a resident confident dog in his forever home. He adores his people and will cautiously meet new people as long as his person is nearby to encourage him. He loves his walks and is getting braver at exploring the world outside the front door. Tricycle will require a home prepared to continue his socialization and exposure training to ensure his confidence continues to grow. Come on and unlock the bike lock on Tricycle’s heart and meet your new pal!      Tricycle is only an option for homes with prior dog owning experience. He is an option for foster to adopt. Tricycle would be best suited for an adult-only home. November 2, 2024, 6:03 pm

Meet Maddy! She's one adorable JRT mix around a year old . This beautiful girl wins over every single person who meets her, she is kind, gentle and a loving soul. Maddy loves other dogs and people so much. She’s crate trained and does well in the house. Maddy was diagnosed with a birth defect of her heart called pulmonic stenosis and sadly is a poor candidate for surgery. She is on heart medications for the rest of her life and the cardiologist said she could live between 1-5 years. We are looking for a forever foster (or open to adopter) for this beautiful girl … She can live a pretty normal life for whatever time she has here. We will cover costs of her medications and any other costs. We provide food, crate and all supplies.

Story
In 2020, amid the challenges of Covid, my family and I made the decision to relocate to Little Rock, Arkansas. Upon settling in, we noticed that our son was feeling lonely. In an effort to bring some joy into his life, we embarked on a search for a small pet. After exploring different options, we came across a shelter, but unfortunately, the dog we had our hearts set on had already been adopted by someone else. Determined to find a furry companion for our family, we kept an eye on the shelter's website. To our delight, a month later, the same dog we had initially wanted was back up for adoption. Without hesitation, we rescued him and welcomed him into our family. For nearly five years now, he has been a beloved member of our household. Our dog, Theo, is incredibly friendly and loves to snuggle. He is well-trained and has a calm demeanor, making him a low-maintenance pet. However, he can be quite vocal if he doesn't recognize someone. With his abundant energy.

Story
All roads lead to Muttville, where Tiberius is happily awaiting your arrival! Tiberius is a noble senior Jack Russell terrier whose name evokes the grandeur of Ancient Rome. Much like the emperor himself, Tiberius has a regal presence, with a sparkle in his eye that speaks of the wisdom his years have imparted and a heart overflowing with love. Though his adventuring days may be behind him, he's ready to be the steadfast companion of your household, offering loyalty and affection like a true Roman hero. Adopt Tiberius, and you'll have a loving, devoted companion who brings a touch of ancient grandeur to your life. This dog is hospice due to a life limiting heart condition. Here's some notes from his foster: We have had the pleasure of fostering Tiberius. Ty (as we call him) is a sweet happy boy who loves his walks and loves his food even more! When he is not following us around, you will find him snuggled under blankets napping. He learned quickly to take himself outside to potty and has had no accidents in the house. He is a smart boy and is a very mellow Jack Russell. While Ty does have a heart condition, it does not hamper his activities, though we try not to let him over exert himself. He is excellent on the leash and is not bothered by other passing dogs. He gets along well with our very large grand dog and loves our granddaughter (age 10). He is incredibly gentle and affectionate and bonds deeply with his person/people. Ty is ready to live his best life and in return will bring much joy and unconditional love to your life!

Story
Meet Soda Stream, a retired left tackle for the famous Idaho Potatoes. This handsome Jack Russell, a former star of the Boop Football League (BFL), has retained his muscular build and quiet intensity, but he can play goofball like a pro. Comfortable with other dogs, humans and their kids, he's just a friendly lug with a face for shaving cream ads, if dogs shaved. Mostly he's a dang good boy looking to make a forever family feel very lucky to have him. Here's some notes from his foster: Soda Stream is easily the best-behaved dog I have ever fostered, and that's saying a lot because all of my foster dogs have been well-behaved. Soda is loving, gentle, friendly, and social. He gets along well with my dogs. He gets along well with my cats. He gets along well with the dogs, big and small, at the dog park. Soda has shown absolutely no aggression or even interest in my rabbits. He's an absolute dream of a dog. Soda Stream is house broken and pees and poops quickly when taken outside to do his business. He walks well on leash - no leash aggression whatsoever. Soda doesn't dig or search for "stuff" on the ground to eat. He enjoys his time outside, discovering new smells and walking off his breakfast. He does not react to sirens, screaming kids, or dogs barking at him from across the street. I've only heard him bark once, and it wasn't very loud. He also doesn't whine or pant loudly. Soda expresses himself through body language, like the full body wag he does when we're about to go for a walk. Soda Stream sleeps soundly through the night, cuddled up next to me. I picked Soda up on a Thursday afternoon and by Saturday he was walking off-leash by my side at Fort Funston. He stayed closer to me than my own dogs but not so close that he was annoyingly underfoot. I didn't have to worry about him straying towards the cliff or doing anything that would get him (or me) into trouble. He is the perfect walking companion. Soda is an active dog. He follows me around the house. He runs and rolls on the grass in park. He has a lot of pep in his step. If you're looking for a dog to sit and watch tv with you, Soda will do that, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you've first given him a reason to rest. Soda is too young of spirit to live a sedentary live and needs both the mental and physical stimulation of activity. If I wasn't already at full capacity, I'd adopt Soda Stream in a heartbeat. He's such a good dog that he must have been surrendered only because it was in his best interest. All dogs deserve good homes, but I really hope that Soda finds a family that will treat him as well as he treats them and love him with lots of walks and lots of cuddles. Soda Stream is so loyal and so gentle and so everything that a person could want in a doggie companion. He really is the best dog.

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $650   Whatchamacallit (Cal) is a 10 month old Border Terrier x Dachshund mix ready to bring smiles to his forever home! Cal was rescued from the shelter with his sister, Jiggy. We don’t know why this handsome dude landed in the shelter but we promised him his next home would be perfect! Cal currently weighs around 12 pounds and we expect he will remain under 15 pounds when he reaches his adult weight. Cal is just adorable and he’s ready to bring the whimsy and joy to his new people!     Cal is an energetic and curious little gentleman who can’t wait to take on the world with you! He loves trotting after his people as they cover new trails… or as you drop snacks for him. Cal is a total snuggler who would be thrilled to spend the day in your lap, but he’s also down for some solo playtime! He is content to be in your presence even if he isn’t getting constant attention, but he would never say no to giving out some kisses or getting some snuggles. Like any puppy, Cal is full of energy. He loves to play and he’s always down for another lap around the block. Don’t underestimate the little dogs folks… their legs can take them far! However, once the adventure is over, Cal is ready for a long nap on one of his plush thrones. This guy is a huge lover as well and is often found curled up with one (or five) plush toys on his dog bed. His tail is always wagging and he is so amazing it’s impossible not to fall madly in love with him from day one! He would be a fabulous ambassador for those who love the Dachshund breed as he’s got that perfect low-rider body.  Cal wakes up around 8 AM and goes outside for a short walk/potty break. He gets breakfast at 9 AM before he settles in for his morning nap on the couch. Cal wakes back up around 10 AM and spends time exploring the house and playing with his toys. He goes outside a few times a day for potty breaks and some leaf sniffing. Once the workday ends. Cal goes out for a longer walk around 6 PM. He eats dinner once he gets back to his foster home as his people wrap up their day. Once he’s finished eating, he settles into the living room couch as he unwinds with some Netflix. Cal goes out for one more bathroom break around 10 PM and then heads into his crate for the night.  Cal has lived with dogs throughout his life and gets along well with them all. He is super playful! He is always down to meet new people, especially kids with snacks. He walks well on a leash but would benefit from additional training, as he’s still very much in the puppy stage. Cal can’t wait to find a family that will know they won the lottery with him. What(chamacallit) are you waiting for!      Cal is an option for homes with prior dog experience. We will consider first-time homes if they demonstrate readiness for a pup. Kids should be over 6.November 2, 2024, 6:03 pm

Giblet was rescued from the shelter when our volunteer arrived to help clear overflowing pens. We jumped into action and scooped this handsome boy up, promising a life of snuggles and love. Giblet weighs 15 pounds and he is just such a fabulously fun-loving little guy. He’s charmed everyone he’s met instantly, it’s impossible not to fall in love with his puppy dog eyes and his brilliant smile. If you have a 15 pound space in your heart for a new best friend, you won’t find a better one than Giblet!      Giblet is a loving and loyal dog who’s ready to fall in love with his forever home! Once he chooses you as his person, you are the light of his life forever and ever. Giblet loves nothing more than being wherever his people are. He loves snuggling, whether in your lap or in his favorite bean bag chair. He has a calm temperament and is content to enjoy a stroll but isn’t going to be a marathoner. Giblet loves his playtime when he’s in the mood for chase or toys, but for the most part loves his couch. He also discovered a best friend in the mirror and it is absolutely hilarious to watch him stare at himself for hours at a time. Giblet’s stubby legs make him an adorable little low-rider for those loving the long and low lifestyle. When he goes up on his hind legs he looks like a little meerkat, a pup worthy of his very own National Geographic show. Giblet is a little foodie who enjoys trying new snacks as often as he can. We can totally picture him making daily trips to the coffee shop for a pup cup (he even loves the smell of coffee) or hitting up the pet store for some tasty jerky. It’s pretty hard to say no to a face that adorable, trust us we’ve tried!  Giblet wakes up at 7 AM and goes right outside to potty and do some morning stretches. He comes inside for breakfast and then heads out on a walk around the neighborhood. During the day, Giblet is pretty low-key energy wise. He’s content to snooze for most of the morning and afternoon, taking occasional trips outside into the yard for potty and sniffs. He goes on another walk before dinner at around 4:30 and then enjoys his evening meal. After he finishes eating, Giblet hops up on the couch for snuggles and cuddles as everyone unwinds from the day. Giblet goes out for one last potty before heading to his crate for the night at 10 PM.  Giblet has lived with dogs of varying sizes and gets along well with them. He would prefer a home with teens or older as little kids can be a bit loud for him. Giblet walks well on the leash and follows his people loyally. He is house trained and crate trained. Giblet would be best suited for a calm home ready for a loyal best friend for life. He can’t wait to get his next adventure started with you.      Giblet is only an option for homes with prior dog experience, even if less recent. Kids should be over the age of 8. November 2, 2024, 6:03 pm
